Chapter 3

Author: Worry-Free Strawberry
When I was diving in the deep sea to get a special seaweed, I took a risk and took off my protective gloves.

A mysterious sea creature that guarded the seaweed bit my hand.

However, I endured the pain and plucked the seaweed.

After I returned to land, I went for a checkup and discovered that I had been infected by the West Nile virus.

There was no known cure for it.

On top of that, the last phase of the infection was extremely painful. It would turn anyone into a shell of a person.

I did not want to die without dignity. Hence, I arranged euthanasia for myself in Switzerland a month later.

After I was discharged, I went back to the Anderson family’s house.

It was my twenty-fourth birthday.

When my mother was still alive, she would throw me a huge birthday party every year.

She would prepare a huge cake that was as tall as a human in the living room. Then, she would personally put a custom-made diamond crown on me and dress me in a gown that she had made herself. She would take photos of me and embrace me as she called me her most beloved little princess.

Even though my mother had passed away, I kept the tradition of throwing my birthday party.

Every time I saw the cake in the middle of the banquet, I felt as though my mother was still here with me.

However, when I returned home tonight, I saw that someone had already cut my cake and dirtied the living room with whipped cream.

Mandy was wearing the crown that my mother had custom-made for me when she was alive. She was also dressed in the gown that my mother had sewn for me. She was laughing and having a good time with Brandon and Benjamin.

The dress was covered in whipped cream.

I was furious!

I strode forward and snatched the crown off Mandy’s head and slapped her.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I questioned them, “Why are you at my place and using my stuff?”

Mandy was shocked by the blow, and her face momentarily twisted with rage.

She was just about to hit me when she remembered that Brandon and Benjamin were still around.

So, she immediately changed her expression.

When she looked up again, she appeared pitiful.

“Olivia, I’m sorry. I’m just…”

Before she could finish speaking, Brandon and Benjamin had shielded her.

They carefully touched her cheek and worriedly asked if it hurt.

When they saw her silent tears, they were furious.

Benjamin slapped me with an angry look in his eyes.

He yelled at me, “Olivia, why did you hit her?! Mandy knows that it’s your birthday, so she asked us to come over to celebrate your birthday with you. But you didn’t even clarify anything before you hit her!

“Why are you so unreasonable?”

I stared at them sharply. “Celebrate my birthday with me? You’re wearing my gown and crown without my permission, and you ruined my cake! Is this how you celebrate my birthday?”

Brandon averted his gaze before he exclaimed, “Mandy said she grew up in a poor family. She’s never seen such a pretty crown and gown. Is it a big deal if she wants to try them on?

“You were born into a rich family. You don’t lack gowns and crowns. What does it matter if she tried them on?

“Besides, it’s just a cake! There’s more than half left. That’s more than enough for you to eat. Why are you being so petty?”

“Olivia, didn’t we promise each other that if you were to marry anyone, you could only choose between Brandon and me?“What are you doing? You actually left the country to marry someone else? Do you feel it’s right to treat us like that?”I looked at the twins and found it ridiculous hearing them recount the promise we made when we were young. They did not remember that promise when they repeatedly hurt me because of Mandy. They only quoted it when they saw me getting married. I stared at them mockingly.“Didn’t you push me to do this? Why? Won’t Mandy be upset that both of you are at my wedding?” Brandon fell silent before he explained, “Olivia, we know what happened. Everything happened because of Mandy! She purposely created misunderstandings, and it drove a wedge between us.“But Benjamin and I already see her for who she really is. I’m sorry, Olivia. We misunderstood you in the past.“We’ve asked Mandy to leave. You can return to our side. We can start again, just like

“Olivia, you’re getting married? Who are you getting married to? How dare you?”What a madman!I did not want to waste another breath on him. I told him it was my business and hung up. Then, I blocked this number too. After I changed my phone settings to reject calls from all unknown numbers, I departed excitedly with Vincent to view my wedding gown. However, I was a little curious about Mandy’s situation after what Brandon had told me. I asked some friends in the country and learned about the situation. It turned out that after I left the country, Mandy thought she could covet everything that once belonged to me. First, she went to my mansion alongside Brandon and Benjamin. Due to my close relationship with Brandon and Benjamin, everyone thought that I was going to marry one of the twins. Before Mandy appeared in our lives, I thought so too. Hence, they could enter my mansion freely. Then, they brought Mandy along with them. They treated my mansion as their own h

Just as he was about to turn, I grabbed his hand and told him the truth about my condition. I thought he would be upset and disappointed. However, he was overjoyed. He hugged me and spun me around. I looked at him in confusion. He ran back into his study excitedly and passed me a document. I was shocked after reading it. The feeling of hope filled me while I was in a desperate place! It turned out that a month ago, Vincent and his team had developed the cure for the West Nile virus! I could live! After I recovered, I decided to marry Vincent. The wedding date was the day that the medicine for West Nile would go public. I had purposely chosen that date. Vincent had cured my heart, and his medicine had cured my body. He was my cure and my new life. However, a week before my wedding. I suddenly received a call from Brandon. “Olivia, did you do it on purpose? Why are you still torturing Mandy after leaving the country? Do you hate her this much?” I was confused

At that time, I was having the seasonal flu. It was mild with a slight cough, and I did not even have a fever. However, Brandon and Benjamin treated it very seriously. They took care of me all day and night. Judging by how anxious they were, someone might have thought that I was terminally ill. After I recovered, they always kept a spare jacket for me in their backpack. They were afraid that I would fall sick again from the cold. However, it had since changed into Mandy’s jacket. I did not know when Mandy began to replace me. When I thought about it, it made me feel dejected. I had left without any hesitation and discarded my care for Brandon and Benjamin. Even so, I always felt a little upset when I recalled the past. When Mandy first arrived, she followed me around like a puppy. I was also really fond of this new junior. Whenever I conducted research, I would include her. I patiently taught her things that she did not understand too. Her research skills were rea

“Besides, it’s Olivia’s personal claim that it can cure you. It’s not completely believable.“After all, Olivia is so good at acting…”Her words made Brandon and Benjamin turn their questioning gazes on me. In the end, Mandy was more trustworthy in their eyes than I was.In the past, I would have been upset if I saw them believing Mandy without any hesitation. However, I no longer cared about them. Naturally, I would not be upset about their distrust. I shrugged and said, “It’s up to you to decide if you believe me or not. It doesn’t matter. After all, I’m leaving the research lab. I’m only here to get my things today.”“What?” Benjamin and Brandon asked at the same time. They exchanged glances and realized that I had been serious when I said that I was writing my resignation letter. “Are you really leaving the research lab? Why?” Brandon asked with a dark expression.I stared at him and Benjamin. “Didn’t both of you contribute to my reason for leaving? Why are you fei

I reached out to pat her shoulder as I said, “You shouldn’t apologize to me. You should apologize to Brandon and Benjamin. “After all, I’m not the one with a genetic disease.”After that, I no longer cared about the confused gazes of those in the research lab. I also ignored Brandon and Benjamin’s shocked expressions and left. When they realized what I was talking about, Brandon and Benjamin immediately chased after me. They stopped me from leaving as they nervously asked, “Olivia, what do you mean? What’s that seaweed for?” I glanced at them and pulled out a stack of papers before passing them over. It was information that I had gathered all these years to treat their genetic disease. It also contained the solution that I had finally found to save them. There was a genetic disease that ran in the Neal family. The men’s bodies would immediately weaken after they turned thirty. Their muscles would weaken, and their eyesight would worsen. Their internal organs would fail,
