FELICIA

“You're pregnant ma'am,” the doctor's voice still rang in my head as I sat in the living room, my arms folded.

It's been three days since I slept with that call boy. I feel ashamed of myself right now.

But I still remembered that night, just one mistake and I'm used as a scape goat. I don't know how Harry will take it and I can't even tell him about this.

The image of him was still in my head, his scent, everything.

I still feel ashamed after that night, he didn't collect the money and I didn't see his face. I'm a whore and it breaks me to know that's the truth.

He just vanished that morning, leaving only a cufflink that I accidentally found when I was packing my stuff by the drawer and honestly, it still surprises me.

I held it and stared at it, his initials were boldly written and I couldn't say it, it felt too heavy in my mouth, too unreal.

The slamming of the door made me jerk sharply, my gaze quickly locked towards it. Of course there’s only one annoying human who could have stormed in here…

Harrry!

But he took a pause, stopping briefly at the door, his cold piercing gaze met mine and I felt my chest squeeze.

“Where have you been all day?!” He quipped.

“Uhm, I went to…”

“Never mind, just get dressed now.” He paced around endlessly searching for something.

“Felicia get up!” He scolded. “Get dressed. Can't you see that the company's stock is dropping?!” He rolled his eyes at me.

“That merger is the only solution except you have another. it's been lingering too much and we need to close that deal soonest!” He quipped, sighing deeply.

Paranoid and bossy as always, I didn't reply to him though, I just stood up and still held that cufflink, folding it into my fist because Harry can't see it with me.

I headed upstairs and quickly got dressed, but I hid that cufflink in my purse, I didn't trust that home anymore. That was the only key to verifying my claims about the father of this child.

“Felicia! Can you hurry up, for crying out loud!” Harry's impatient voice boomed from downstairs.

I hastened my feet down the stairs and finally got to him. He just rolled his eyes at me and we walked out.

We drove swiftly to the company and the moment we stepped out of the car, my heart fluttered for a split second. The cufflink? It had the same insignia of the company? What's really going on?

We walked in together, our hands clasped together and the receptionist directed to his office on the top floor.

We got into the elevator, but my heart didn't find peace. I was terrorized by my mind, the guilt, the self blame. Good Lord.

The elevator finally came to a halt and the office door opened. Harry's face was beaming with joy, but my face was sour. We walked in and took our seats, his chair backed us, he was staring at the city view, his legs crossed and his aura unmatched. That same cologne, it choked me again.

However, when he finally turned his chair, my heart sank, not in fear of his aura but the recognition of the same cologne of the call boy hit me hard.

He stood and walked over to us ans stretched his hand for a handshake and it only got worse. I spotted it, the exact royal blue insignia of the cufflink in my purse…

He offered me a seat and his gaze lingered further on me, as if he knew but his expression changed quickly to a stern look.

I used this moment to quickly check the one in my purse to be sure and it was its exact match. I stared at him again as he spoke to Harry and those sharp intimidating blue eyes, I recognized them immediately.

And once again, he focused on me, staring at me for a while, maybe trying to ascertain his thoughts of me, but finally looked away and turned to Harry.

“Have you finalized the proposal?” He spat, but his voice was rude. And Harry wasn't done with that yet, he was supposed to finish up with it tonight, but he was the one that called us to show up here immediately.

“Sir, My wife here…” he turned to me, and I knew he was confused, but he still forced himself to remain calm. I just had to help him.

“Oh, about that. The proposal is almost ready, I just needed to show it to him for the final ascent…” I quickly put in.

“Yeah, that's right…” Harry joined in, but the other man just nodded with a rather cold stare.

“Hmm.” He took in a deep breath and looked away for a while.

When he turned back to me, he smiled warmly and just shrugged it off.

“Don't worry, nevermind,” he replied, his voice firm.

He was being unusually nice to me, but hostile to Harry. I was already growing too uneasy with his character and I had to tell him the one thing that has been bothering me, but I didn't know how.

An idea popped up and I quickly turned to him.

“Uhm, please can I have a glass of water?” I begged and he quickly agreed.

“Sure,” he stood up immediately to get the water from the dispenser and I quickly grabbed my pen and scribbled it on a piece of paper boldly.

“I'M PREGNANT.”

When he gave me the glass, I stylishly slid the paper into his hands and we exchanged awkward glances at each other.

Harry noticed it and raised an eyebrow at me, but I looked away.

When he took a seat, Harry was already feeling something was off, but didn't have a say, but that didn't even matter.

When Richard opened the paper, he turned to me and raised an eyebrow, giving me a blank stare. And I choked on the water.

“Is everything alright?” Harry asked now, staring at me with a cold look.

But he got no reply and I didn't even bother to look at him either. I quickly grabbed my phone and sent Richard the pregnancy report I had gotten from the doctor a few days ago and the check up I got when I visited the hospital earlier today.

He was speechless and just stared at me, his face folding softly into a deadly scowl.

“Sir, is everything alright?” Harry asked again.

But he was too busy to answer that as he was busy checking his phone.

“Get out of my office!” He spat, his voice cold and too calm.

“But Sir…” Harry tried to persuade him but he immediately shouted at us again to get out.

“Leave here now before I call the security!”

We got up immediately and rushed out. Harry was awkwardly surprised about how it suddenly ended that way, but I keep exactly why he acted that way and it broke me.

We walked out together in silence and he was confused, but I was broken.

“Why the sudden change?” Harry asked. He was clearly confused. “He was nice to me the other time I came here.”

“I don't know!” I spat, forcing the tears back in and just left him behind.

Why me? Just why?!

RICHARD By 8:00 a.m next day I was already seated behind my desk, skimming through the day’s briefing notes with a cup of black coffee cooling untouched at my side as I tried to focus. Or so I thought.A sharp knock cut through the stillness. Before I could respond, the door swung open.Professor Raymond didn’t wait for permission. At sixty-seven, the board chairman carried authority like a second skin; measured, composed, almost surgical in his movements. But today… something was off. His face was drawn tight, the usual calm replaced with something far less controlled.Agitation.“Good morning, Professor…” I greeted him as usual. He didn’t answer.Instead, he strode forward and dropped a folded newspaper on my desk with more force than necessary. It slid across the polished surface, stopping just short of my hands.“Have you seen this?” he asked. His voice was steady but only just.I leaned back slightly, eyeing the paper; City Herald. “Seen what?”“Open to the centre pages.”There

RICHARD Felicia was already at the lab when I walked in that evening after I returned from work. Seated at the workstation, her posture slightly leaned forward, eyes fixed on the monitor as she scrolled through the data we had recently gathered. One hand rested lightly on the desk, the other moved the mouse with steady precision. She didn’t look up immediately.Good.That meant she was focused.I dropped the file I had in my hand on the counter beside her.“We’re not working on the multivitamin this time,” I said, pulling a stool closer. “This batch is from the antimicrobial suspension trial.”That got her attention. She glanced at me briefly, then back at the screen. “The one with the instability under variable temperature?”“Yes.”She nodded once, already scanning through the results more carefully now.I pulled up the extended data set on the adjacent monitor, crossing my arms as I studied the figures.“Baseline degradation started earlier than expected,” I added. “Especially in

HARRYMy heart hammered against my ribs. I understood. I moved, my lips kissing a trail down her golden skin, over the smooth plane of her abdomen, past the dip of her navel. The sheets rustled as I settled between her thighs. The sight was intoxicating. She was open to me, utterly vulnerable and utterly powerful.I looked up at her. Her head was tilted back, eyes closed, a faint smile on her parted lips. One of her hands rested on my head, not pushing, but claiming. Her fingers threaded through my hair. “Please,” she said, the word a soft, desperate plea.I lowered my mouth. My first touch was a gentle kiss on the inner skin of her thigh. She shuddered. Then, I moved to her center. I didn’t plunge in. I teased. My lips brushed against her, feeling the soft, swollen heat. My tongue traced a slow, lazy circle around her, avoiding the core, tasting the salt and warmth of her skin.Jessica gasped. “Don’t… tease me now,” she moaned, her voice tight with need.I listened. I parted her with

HARRYI’d lingered in the study for one last call after our guests left, trying to wrap up the loose ends of a deal. After that I found my way upstairs.I pushed open the door to our bedroom, and the sight on the bed stopped me in the doorway, my breath catching in my throat.Jessica was in bed, the sheets pooled around her hips. She was naked, the soft light from her bedside lamp painting her skin in warm gold. She held an iPad, her focus apparently on some article, but the curve of her lips, the slight tilt of her head, told me she had been waiting for me. This was her invitation, silent and breathtaking.I didn’t speak. I just stared, taking in the elegant slope of her shoulders, the dark fall of her hair against the pillow, the gentle rise of her breasts. Mesmerizing. The perfect, intimate end to a beautiful night. My clothes came off in a hurried, quiet ritual. Each piece falling away felt like shedding a layer of the world outside. By the time I was naked too, the cool air of th

HARRYBy the time I got home, the day had settled into that quiet, satisfied kind of exhaustion. But there was more waiting for me. I reached for the doorknob, already loosening my tie with my other hand. But the door flung open before I could touch it.Jessica stood there. Jessica was now my wife officially, we had a court wedding seven months ago.Radiant.Her smile was wide, bright, almost conspiratorial, like she had been waiting just behind the door, listening for my footsteps.“Here comes the birthday boy,” she sang lightly. Before I could respond, she stepped closer, her hands sliding up my chest as she leaned in and kissed me; deep, warm, deliberate.“Happy birthday, darling, once again.”I exhaled softly against her lips before pulling back just enough to look at her.“Thank you, dear,” I murmured. And I meant it, not just for the greeting. For the effort. For the glow she carried into my space.“Happy birthday, my boy!”My father’s voice came from the living room.I looked

HARRYThe chairman cleared his throat just as the last slide faded off the screen. It was our quarterly board meeting. “Before we adjourn,” he said, folding his hands neatly on the polished conference table, “I would like us to take a moment. Today happens to be a special day.”A few heads turned toward me.They already knew what was happening.“Myself and the board thought it fitting that two of our most respected members say a few words about Mr. Harry Sterling; his leadership, his resilience, and what he has meant to Treeline Biosciences, especially in these past months. In honor of his birthday today.”A small smile tugged at my lips as I leaned back in my chair, adjusting my cufflinks subtly. I kept my expression modest and measured but inside, something warm had already begun to bloom.Recognition.Finally, something untainted.“Dr. Wallace,” the chairman said, gesturing toward the man seated two chairs to my left. “If you would begin.”Dr. Andrew Wallace straightened, a man in
