Chapter 21

~RILEY’S POV~

The sight of Elena at my doorstep last night raised a sense of insecurity, like she was here to take away or destroy what I carefully built. Alex was the only ticket I had to a life filled with wealth, luxury and every good thing that comes with it. And this child in my womb is the only reason I'm tied to the fox family. I feared that having Elena around Alex could ruin my chance at having a good life.

So, instead of Elena destroying my life and plans, I'd rather destroy her first. Like my mother would always say, ‘The best form of defense is to attack.' I sort of way to completely sabotage and cut off every tie she has with Alex. I knew the best way to accomplish that was to make her a threat to the one thing Alex loved most, which was his unborn child. I guess my plan worked.

I lay on my hospital bed, deeply immersed in thoughts, when I got knocked out of my imagination by the creaking sound of the door hinges. I tilt my head slowly towards the entrance. My mother, Ton
