Chapter 2

Author: LL
I didn't know why I didn't expose Arthur's betrayal.

With the pack's blessings, we began preparing for our wedding.

Arthur brought me to a bridal boutique to try on wedding dresses. Although I tried on 18 different dresses, he never once lost his patience. He even said good-naturedly, "Let's get all of them if you like them."

"Your mate loves you so much," one of the wolves said enviously.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at Arthur.

Arthur ruffled my hair lightly when he saw my teary eyes, saying, "No need to get so emotional, darling. It's my duty to pamper you."

The other wolves chuckled in amusement.

"The two of you truly are madly in love with each other."

Night had fallen by the time we finally decided on my wedding dress.

When we returned home, Arthur thoughtfully prepared a glass of warm milk for me and filled the bathtub with warm water. He also prepared my towel and bathrobe and lit a scented candle, so that I could thoroughly enjoy soaking in the tub.

He pressed a kiss to my cheek when he was done, saying, "Get some rest after you're done soaking in the tub. You must be exhausted after trying on wedding dresses all day. It breaks my heart to see you so tired. There's a full moon tonight. I have to lead the pack on a hunt. Goodnight."

A wave of panic crashed over me when I realized that Arthur was leaving. I frantically grabbed his shirt and asked, "Can you stay, Arthur? I want you to stay by my side tonight."

Arthur frowned. It was something that he always did when he was mulling over his thoughts. In the end, he shook his head and said, "Tonight's hunt is very important. I'll come back to you right away after it's over."

I stared at him for a long time as I processed his answer, searching his eyes for any hint of guilt. However, I failed to find what I was looking for.

Arthur gently pulled me into his arms and murmured, "Be good. I'll come back once the hunt is over."

I blinked, trying my best to hold back my tears. "Okay… You can go," I mumbled.

Arthur tried to cheer me up for a long time. He tried to kiss me right before he left, but I turned my head away. He let out a helpless laugh, assuming that I was just throwing a tantrum.

He didn't hesitate when he turned around and left. He shifted into a massive, black wolf and disappeared into the night.

The moment Arthur left, I swiftly shifted as well and chased after him, following his scent. I sprinted over 40 miles without resting before finally stopping a short distance away from a house that was hidden deep in the mountains near the border.

I hid in the shadows as I watched Arthur shift back into his human form. He was wearing a smile on his handsome face.

Just then, a young and beautiful she-wolf strode out of the house. She was wearing a sexy minidress, and her long hair fell past her shoulders in gorgeous waves.

The she-wolf hugged Arthur tightly, saying, "I missed you so much, Arthur."

Arthur gave the she-wolf a once-over before he leaned down and kissed her impatiently.

I felt as if the blood in my veins had turned to ice as I watched them.

I stayed outside the house until the early hours of the morning, only leaving when the cold became unbearable.

The truth was, I wasn't surprised by Arthur's betrayal. I had seen their chat yesterday, learning that he had been involved in this tryst with the she-wolf for the last three years.

"I'll come find you as soon as possible after I'm done picking out a wedding dress with her, sweetheart. Don't forget to put on the dress that I picked out for you."

The she-wolf had then sent a photo of her wearing the sexy minidress. "I'll be waiting for you at home, Artie."

I had clung onto one last thread of hope that day, hoping that Arthur would stay. But in the end, he had still chosen to leave.

Every word that came out of his mouth was a lie.

I didn't understand. Didn't he feel any remorse at all for lying to me?

There were dark bruises under his eyes, and he looked as if his strength had fled him.I scoffed. "You betrayed me, and she betrayed you. What goes around comes around."Arthur was stunned by my words. "It's so satisfying to know that the traitor was betrayed," I said mockingly.…Arthur never sought me out again after that day.Peace was restored to my life. One day, an Omega ran over to me while waving her phone at me, exclaiming, "I have shocking news, Ella! I dedicated all my attention to improving myself, easily agreeing when Mom arranged for me to hone my skills with the Glenvale pack. After ensuring that all the business in the pack was accounted for, I still spotted someone standing at the border, despite the long distance between us.It was Arthur. His tone was colored with impatience as he spoke to someone using a mind-link."I already told you to stop bothering me. I've already arranged a place for you to stay. I want you to leave the pack. Do you not understand me? I don't care that you're expecting. That has nothing to do with me. I already told you that I don't want it."I don't love you. I never marked you. I was just fooling around with you, Lilian. I'll never mark you. So what if the pup is mine? I'll never accept you as my mate. You should give up now."Just then, Arthur spotted me from the corner of his eye. He immediately severed the mind-link and approached me."I prepared some things that you can bring with you to

After relaxing in the fields for a month, I returned to the Southland pack's territory. The moment I returned, I spotted seven fresh prey lined up in a neat row outside my door. There was also a card with a message inside."I miss you, Ella."Although there was no name attached to the gifts, everyone knew there could only be one sender. The other she-wolves in the pack spoke to me with envy dripping from their words."I'm so jealous of you, Ella. You have such a romantic mate.""He loves you so much. You've been together for seven years, so he hunted seven prey for you.""They're all your favorites too.""I heard that you'll be having your mating ritual soon. Don't forget to invite us to be part of the happy occasion."In the past, I would have turned as red as a beet from their teasing. However, at that moment, I felt nothing but disdain. If Arthur actually loved me, he wouldn't have fooled around with another she-wolf. It was preposterous. I didn't need this type of love

When I first got together with Arthur, his admirers attacked me relentlessly. They called me a promiscuous and shameless she-wolf. They also said that a wolf from the south didn't deserve to be with Arthur. Some of them even dug up information about Mom's territory. They then created signs to insult me right outside the border of her territory.Malicious words haunted me during that time. I nearly broke down, but Arthur stood up for me and announced our relationship to the pack. "Ella is my mate. Anyone who touches her will be making an enemy out of me."Chaos erupted among the pack the moment the words left his lips.I walked over to Arthur and asked, "Won't this affect your status as the future Alpha of the pack?""That's not important to me, Ella," he replied while hugging me tightly. "I just want to protect you. I won't let anyone hurt you."I could still remember his expression that day. He had looked at me with such unbridled sincerity and adoration.Despite everything t

Arthur tried moving closer to me."Don't touch me, Arthur!" I hissed coldly. "You disgust me."Arthur became even more flustered and helpless upon hearing my words.I removed the wolf fang engagement ring and pressed it into his cold palm. I then grabbed the suitcases that I had already packed beforehand and strode toward the door with hurried steps.I paused for a moment when I opened the door, saying, "I've already cancelled the wedding dress order, Arthur. Let's call off the mating ceremony as well."I didn't spare Arthur another glance after I was done speaking and left the house.…I felt lost and broken when I returned to Mom's territory in the south. The moment she saw me, she asked, "My darling daughter, what happened to you?"I hugged her tightly and answered, "I called it off with Arthur, Mom.
