The elevator doors slid shut when they stepped in, and Cassie felt the world narrow into a small golden-lit box where time suddenly moved differently.

Neither of them spoke in the quietness. It wasn’t uncomfortable silence, it was almost intimate.

Cassie could feel the warmth from Nikolai’s hand, the steady pulse in his fingers, the weight of his gaze that kept drifting over her even when he tried to pretend he wasn’t staring.

Her heart wasn’t racing...no...it was fluttering, like the delicate wings of a butterfly brushing against the inside of her ribcage.

He kept staring at her. Not constantly, but often enough to make her feel her cheeks heat every single time their eyes met.

Finally, he broke the silence.

“You nervous?” he murmured, his voice low enough that it vibrated softly through the small space.

Cassie let out a short breath of amusement and let out a soft chuckle.

“Should I be?” she teased, turning her head toward him.

Nikolai’s lips curled into a smirk, the kind

  • I Married His Enemy: Return Of The Forgotten Princess    The Sensation Of Being Watched

The seating arrangement itself spoke volumes. Rafael had placed the Rosewoods at the central table, not too obvious, but unmistakably strategic for their status. Close enough to the hosts to signal importance, far enough to maintain distance from curious guests who might try to eavesdrop or intrude under the guise of politeness. Lucas took his seat first, Gloria beside him, naturally assuming the quiet authority of people who didn’t need to announce their status. Stacy settled in gracefully, while Adrian sat across from her, his posture relaxed but his eyes observant, absorbing everything without missing a detail. Nikolai pulled Cassie’s chair out for her before sitting beside her, Emily wedged comfortably between her parents, swinging her legs under the table, blissfully unaware of the undercurrents swirling around them. Veronica sat beside Cassie, elegant and composed, her smile practiced yet genuine, though her eyes kept flicking toward the room and back to her man, Adrian.

Veronica leaned closer to Cassie, her fingers brushing Cassie’s arm as she whispered under her breath, careful not to let the cameras lingering at the edges of the hall catch their lips. “Why are they fucking staring at us like that?” she muttered, her eyes darting around dramatically. Cassie couldn’t help herself. She chuckled softly, the sound light but confident, as if she owned the space they stood in. “I think this is just the command of the Rosewoods,” she replied quietly. “They don’t need to speak. Their name alone can silence a room.” Veronica let out an exaggerated sigh, placing a hand over her chest. “Great. So I'm going to be married into Hollywood fame, and now I’m stuck standing next to corporate royalty. I guess there’s no escaping destiny.” Cassie smiled knowingly. “I guess we’re stuck with this family. And stop being dramatic. You already have Hollywood fame. The Rosewoods' fame is just the top of the iceberg.” Veronica huffed before glancing at Nikolai, then Luc

  • I Married His Enemy: Return Of The Forgotten Princess    The Whispers

The moment the Rosewoods stepped fully into the grand premises of the celebration, it was as if the air itself shifted. Conversations faltered mid-sentence. Laughter dimmed, and glasses paused halfway to lips. And then... The whispers began. They came in waves, soft at first, before swelling into a low hum that filled the entire hall. “That’s them…” “The Rosewoods…” “Do you see Cassie McCarthy?” “My God, she’s even more beautiful in person…” “That’s Nikolai Rosewood. He’s terrifying.” “No, that’s the one who never smiles…” “I heard he bought out three companies last week alone…” Cassie felt it immediately, the invisible weight of attention pressing against her skin. She had walked red carpets before, endured flashing cameras and judgmental stares, but this was different. This wasn’t admiration alone. It wasn’t curiosity either. It was awe and fear. People didn’t just look at the Rosewoods. They also fear them. The people lowered their voices instinctively, as if speaking to

The Rosewoods began filing out toward the driveway, where a line of sleek black cars gleamed beneath the evening sun. Their chauffeur, dressed immaculately in a black suit and white gloves, stood by the first car, opening the door for Gloria and Lucas. Cassie adjusted Emily’s pink bow while Nikolai fastened the tiny straps on her silver shoes. “You look like a princess,” he said. Emily nodded proudly. “Because I am one. Thank you, Daddy!!!” Cassie grinned. “And who’s the king, hmm?” “Uncle Adrian!” Emily shouted. “Excuse me?” Nikolai’s head snapped up. “What about me?” “You’re the funny one,” Emily said sweetly. Cassie burst out laughing again, and Nikolai groaned. “The funny one. Not even the handsome one?” “Naaa... naaa... naaa,” Emily said innocently. Cassie kissed Emily’s forehead. “Smart girl.” “Why are my own family members my biggest enemies today?” Nikolai muttered as he helped Cassie into the car. Inside the luxurious black interior, Cassie leaned back against

Nikolai stood there, surrounded by laughter that didn’t seem to include him. It wasn’t that anyone was ignoring him, they just didn’t see him the way they used to. It was like the moment Adrian walked into any room, the atmosphere rearranged itself around him. Every voice tilted his way, every smile stretched wider, every glance found a reason to land on his annoyingly perfect face. And right now, Nikolai was painfully aware that even his own daughter had traded him for his brother. He watched as Adrian swung Emily around one more time, the little girl squealing with joy, her soft curls bouncing with every spin. “Higher, Uncle Adrian! Higher!” she shrieked. “Little Emily Rosewood,” Adrian teased, slowing down and pretending to look shocked. “If I throw you too high, you might end up on the moon!” “That’s fine!” Emily giggled. “I’ll bring you a star!” Everyone laughed again... everyone except Nikolai. He folded his arms, staring with exaggerated misery. “Unbelievable,” he mu

  • I Married His Enemy: Return Of The Forgotten Princess    Sulking Nikolai

The Rosewood Mansion looked as though it had been carved out of a dream that only the wealthy were allowed to touch. Their wealth spoke volumes without any of them shouting it out. Everyone was dressed perfectly and impeccably. As though this was not merely an anniversary dinner but a ceremonial gathering, one that required them to wear not just fine fabric but the weight of the Rosewood name itself. Nikolai stepped inside first, Cassie beside him, Emily’s small fingers curled trustingly around Cassie’s hand. He wore a sharply tailored black suit, that fit his broad shoulders like it had been molded onto him, but his expression was anything but cold. A deep frown was etched on his face. Cassie noticed it immediately and chuckled to herself. Behind them, Gloria stood near the center of the living room, already dressed in an elegant emerald gown that hugged her figure gracefully, pearls resting against her collarbone like a signature. Lucas stood beside her, adjusting his cu
