Logan

I stared at the phone in my hand. The screen glowed with the same thing I’d been seeing all day.

There was no reply.

I clenched the device so hard my knuckles turned white.

My thumb flicked down the screen again, rows of unanswered calls, read messages with no replies. I called once more.

It went straight to voicemail.

Switched off?

She turned off her phone!

The groan that left me was low, but it still echoed across the dining room.

"Is your wife not picking up?" A deep voice asked.

I looked up slowly.

My father sat across from me at the head of the long mahogany table, his eyes cold and unreadable beneath his silver-streaked hair. The clink of his knife hitting the edge of his plate was the only sound he made as he cut his steak.

“No. She hasn’t returned my calls. I'm sorry. She went to her father’s house, and I assumed she’d be back by now. She should have been here to welcome you.”

He paused, chewing thoughtfully before swallowing. “It’s fine, your wife also ha

Chloe I heard them before I even realized they were talking about us. “Oh my god, look at them!” “Are they celebrities? They have to be.” “They’re giving off main character energy.” “Right? That man, he’s so hot and tall. God, I want a man like that.” “She’s lucky.” “No, he’s lucky. Look at her, she's absolutely stunning.” I blinked, glancing around to see who they were whispering about. I didn’t see anyone else close enough. A hand gently pressed on my shoulder, pulling me closer just before a man nearly bumped into me. “Sorry!” the man muttered, walking off. Someone nearby gasped. “Omg. Look at him protecting his woman. His whole attention is on her.” My eyes widened. Wait. Us? They were talking about us? I glanced up at Alexander, whose hand was still on my shoulder. He didn’t seem bothered, or maybe just used to it. But I noticed a flicker of something in his expression. Annoyance? Even in a crowd this large, he stood out. Everything about him was unmissable. Chloe I splashed cold water on my face. It hit like a slap, just what I needed to pull myself out of whatever dream I’d been sinking into. I looked up at the mirror. My reflection stared back, clear, flushed, and strange. Who is this woman? I didn’t look like her anymore. She was not the Chloe I used to be, the one who kept her head down and her voice small. The one who did everything right and still got stepped on. I sighed. The date with Alexander had gone so well, better than I ever expected. We talked, laughed, and shared little things. I learned more about him, things I hadn’t known I wanted to know. After dinner, we were headed to the car when I excused myself to use the restroom. "You’d still look beautiful." His words echoed in my head, playing on repeat. I ran a hand through my hair, trying to clear my head. What the hell am I doing? Like him? Was that what I was thinking? That I… liked Alexander? God. That wasn’t just insane, it was dangerous. I wasn’t just so

  • I Mistook The Billionaire For A Stripper    Is it because I like him?

Chloe My heart started beating faster. I stared at him, the man in front of me was dressed in chef whites, with soft brown eyes, blonde hair, and that same easygoing smile I remembered. Roman? Yes. It was definitely him. He recognized me too, I could see it in the slight lift of his brow, a flicker of recognition before his expression turned professional. “Have you decided, ma’am?” he asked, voice pleasant, as if we were complete strangers. I blinked at him, caught off guard. Why was he pretending? He had to know who I was. Everyone knew who Logan’s mother was, and if she’d hired him for her brunch, he would’ve known exactly who I was married to. So why was he acting like he didn’t? “Ma’am?” Roman said again, still smiling. Before I could respond, Alexander’s voice cut in, his voice low. “Chloe?” I looked up at him, startled. His green eyes met mine. His expression was unreadable, but the faint crease between his brows told me enough. He was watching me carefully now. “

  • I Mistook The Billionaire For A Stripper    Should I choose for both of us?

Chloe The moment the car door opened, I sighed loudly. This had to be the longest, most stressful car ride of my entire life. Never, had I tried this hard to control myself over something. And it was all because of this man beside me. Who, for the past thirty minutes, had been casually brushing his fingers along my thighs. Skimming the fabric. Letting his knuckles graze my skin as if it was an accident. But I knew it wasn’t. Not with the way that insufferable smirk kept dancing across his lips as he stared out the window like he was innocent. My whole body was on fire, and I had to physically stop myself from grabbing Alexander by the collar and into the backseat to make him stop teasing and actually do something. But I didn’t, because I had just enough pride and I felt bad for the poor driver. So when the door finally opened and I could breathe real air again, I felt like I’d just survived a war. Alexander stepped out first. And the moment his shoes hit the ground, the men stat

Chloe I smoothed my hand down the front of my outfit, still not used to the way it hugged and complimented my body. Joshua really went all out. A cream satin bralette, paired with a high-waisted, ruched maxi skirt that hugged my curves, and a long matching coat draped effortlessly over my shoulders. The whole look was chic, bold, and elegant. It was nothing like what I normally wore. Nothing like the modest dresses my mother-in-law picked for me. Or the neutral tones that helped me disappear at family dinners. Right now, I didn’t look like someone’s obedient wife, I looked like a rich, and powerful heiress. I glanced at the glass door in front of me, and saw Alexander standing outside, leaning against the sleek black car like he’d stepped out of a magazine ad. Under the streetlight, his black coat swayed slightly in the breeze, one hand tucked in his pocket. Eyes lazily on the ground. He was waiting. After the kiss, I made him leave, so that I could get dressed. Because if he’
