XARION'S POV

I shouldn't be here.

I know I shouldn't.

But here I am anyway, sitting in a dark corner booth of Luminara with Andrew beside me, both of us wearing reading glasses we don't actually need like we're just two business associates having a quiet dinner.

Which we're definitely not.

"This is a terrible idea," Andrew mutters under his breath, his eyes fixed on the menu in front of him like he's actually planning to order something. "You know that, right?"

"I know," I reply curtly, my gaze locked on the table near the window.

On her.

Megan.

And him.

Vance Stone.

They're sitting across from each other, laughing about something I can't hear from this distance.

Even from here, the low glow of the restaurant settles over Megan's face, highlighting the curve of her smile.

She looks beautiful.

Gorgeous, in fact.

That emerald dress hugs her in all the right ways, and her smile, goddess, her smile is radiant.

But it's not directed at me.

It's directed at him.
