My car tyres screeched as I drove out of the garage, hitting the road at full speed. I was already late to work, thanks to Sasha who had kept me busy with talks about the British royal family. I would've loved to continue talking about them, but I had my own life to live.

I wound down the car windows, feeling the cozy air hit my face as I drove. My ears were occupied by the softly jamming music on the radio, and I joined in singing the chorus to the song.

“ Baby you're a firework.

Come and let your colors burn.

Let it go oh, oh, oh.

As you you shoot across the sky tonight!”

I sang softly. The song had been on repeat on my mp3 player when Katy Perry released it, together with Roar, back in 2013. I was still surprised that I even remembered the lyrics.

“ Yo, good morning everyone. Hope we're all having a good day”, a friendly female voice said from the radio, interrupting the music. Why the hell couldn't they let the song finish before saying whatever rubbish t

“ Well, uh……. the plan? The plan. Yes, the plan. The plan was to uh……..it was to uh…….”, I never knew that I stammered, not until that moment, “you know what? I don't have any plan. Not right now. I haven't had time to come up with any, so yeah, but I will, I will come up with one”. “ When?” Hakim asked with a smug look on his face. “ Um……… I don't know, probably by…….in fact, I don't know, and I don't think that you are in the position to ask me such”, I snarled at him while the others moved their eyes from me to him and back to him. “ Well, permit me to remind you Mr Davids, or tell you in case you didn't know, that this case will be unlike any case you have ever taken on. It sure wouldn't be like your normal criminal cases, and trust me, everything will be different. It might even grow to become a national news, and I don't know for you, but I do not plan on taking the senator to court and loosing afterwards, or is that what you want?” Hakim asked, still looking at me, and

“ Mr Mali fixed a meeting this morning, have you guys seen it?” Dominic said as we all walked out of the courtroom. That was after the commotion had died down. “ What meeting?” I asked. “ He didn't send you guys a message?” We all brought out our phones to check if there was indeed a message. “ Oh, here's mine”, Francis chipped in. “ He also sent me one”, Mr Churchill prompted. “ And he also sent me one too”, Cole said, showing me his phone screen. I checked mine and saw no message. “ He didn't send me any message”, I said. “ That's weird”, Francis said and they all exchanged looks. I was becoming pissed. The anger was slowly gathering flames. How dare Hakim? How dare he fix a meeting with my team members without me? First of all he should've asked for my permission before fixing any goddamn meeting with my team members, and second of all, why the hell did he not include me? That godforsaken son of a ………… “ Your phone is ringing”, Cole said, cutting me off f

He looked different. And it wasn't just his looks, it was also how the chemicals in my body reacted upon seeing him. He was wearing a milky-white packet shirt drapped on top of wine colored pants, with a matching wine colored long jacket, and was walking towards me like Gigi Hadid on a runway, with a breathtaking smile on his lips. “ Hi”, he said, holding me by the waist and planting a long kiss on my cheeks. I smiled into the kiss, relishing in the smell of his perfume. “ Hey, how're you doing?” I asked. “ How was your night?” The smile was still on his face and his right arm was still around my waist. “ It was nice. I got enough adequate sleep if that was what you were asking, even though I don't know how I ended up coming late even when I woke up on time”, I looked at his face more observantly, “ there is something different about you but I can't quite point at what exactly it is”, I said and he chuckled, “ it's your hair, you got a new haircut”. “ Yeah. You like it

  • I Never Hated You     Chapter Eighty-eight

I was walking through a garden, an endless garden of sunflower and lilies. The white and yellow hue from the flowers created a spectacular view, with it's vast endless beauty. It was really a sight to behold. While I was in this world of white and yellow which spread under the clear blue skies, and while walking on the only pathway that divided the ocean of flowers into two, Cole stepped out of a huge sunflower. I should've been scared or surprised that someone magically stepped out of a flower, but I wasn't. It all felt completely natural, nothing out of the normal. He walked up to me and held my hand, and we continued on that lone path that led to God knows where. He was all smiles, glowing equally with the flowers and the beautiful sunset. His eyes were on me, lingering around my face with smiles, and I couldn't help but smile in return. While still walking and smiling, Basil suddenly stepped out a huge lily flower, and on seeing him, I tried to push Cole away, but it

I dropped by at the hospital with my broken heart. Basil was still looking so peaceful while snoring away, and he was becoming less paler, but he wasn't waking up, and the frustration from that almost made me cry. After spending about thirty minutes or so there, I left. When I drove to the parking lot in my apartment building, Cole was there, waiting for me in front of his car. I rolled my eyes as I went ahead and parked my car. I really wasn't in the mood for any long talks, at least not with Cole because precisely, I knew I shouldn't be mad at him, but I was, and I knew that things were not going to get settled without at least, a little bit of drama, and trust me babe, I was in no mood for any kind of drama. He followed my car and stood at my door. “ What are you doing here?” I asked as I got out of my car, “ like, what exactly do you want?” “ I just want to say that I'm sorry, okay? I am”. “ About what? Tell me, what are you sorry about?” My arms were folded. “

  • I Never Hated You     Chapter Eighty-six

I barged into Hakim's office, not giving a damn about whether or not it was rude. “ And what the hell was the meaning of what you did earlier?” I asked. He seemed a little bit angry, no, a lot angry, but he closed his eyes and heaved, as if he was trying to put his anger at ease. He looked up and said, “ close the door”. I rolled my eyes and banged the door, shutting it close. “ I said close the door, not tear it down”, he said. “ You haven't answered my question. What the hell was the meaning of what you did earlier?” “ You know you really look cute standing like that”, he said and I looked at myself to discover that I was standing like a child model posing in front of an audience, with my right hand to my waist. “ That is technically none of your business”, I prompted, taking my hand off my waist and attempting a more manly stance. “ Why did you make the announcement? What did you even mean by it and what are you aiming for?” “ Well, if you must know, I made th
