RACHEL

"What!" Jeremy let out. "Are you crazy?"

My brows furrowed, and I leaned my head backward as I tried to comprehend what the issue might be.

"Pardon?" I asked, startled by his outburst.

"How can you have a boyfriend when you have me?" His tone held disbelief as his jaw clenched.

For a few seconds, I stayed mute to understand what he meant, but I couldn't come up with anything.

"What do you mean?" I asked calmly. "But you have a girlfriend when you already have me, your wife." My gaze dart

RACHELWe were about to stand when my eyes caught Jeremy and Clara walking toward the restaurant. I froze on the spot, my eyes widening. My heart thumped hard against my chest, and my feet dug into the floor. Of all places... why here?"Let's-" Sebastian's words cut off when he noticed my panic. He tilted his head, his gaze following mine. "Do you know them?" he asked.I couldn't respond. "Let me quickly go to the restroom," I told him. I didn't wait for his response. Instead, I stood up and headed toward the back. Thankfully, it was located there, so I could disappear easily without them seeing me.As soon as I got into the bathroom, I rested my hands against the sink and breathed out heavily. This seemed harder than I thought. I had barely started the game, and I was already this stressed. I stood there for minutes, unsure whether to leave or not. If Jeremy saw me with Sebastian, this wouldn't end quietly. After what felt like an eternity, a waitress walked in. "Are you Ms. Rachel?"

RACHELI'd been standing in front of the restaurant so long that time had completely lost meaning, not taking a step forward or backward, palms sweaty and knees shaky. This was the place I was supposed to meet Sebastian, and I just couldn't gather the courage to go inside.A multitude of thoughts sprouted in my head. Was I really ready for this? What if Jeremy took me seriously and assumed I was really enjoying the open marriage thing?I hesitated. Meeting him would either destroy what was left of my marriage, or be the only thing that could save it. I recognized a risky game when I saw one, and the step I was about to take was one.Inhaling deeply, I clutched my bag tightly and took a step into the restaurant. The game was risky, but I could endure anything for the success of my marriage. The interior design of the restaurant almost knocked me off my feet. It wasn't built like the normal modern restaurants we're all used to. It was styled like an 80s diner, but elevated, like nostalg

I was certain she didn't expect things to play out the way they did. I was equally caught unprepared. That reaction was unexpected in every way.He stood up. "But you can't compare yourself with me, Rachel," he said. "We're different."I stared at him for a second, trying to process how easily he rewrote fairness to suit himself.A part of my brow creased. "What! I don't understand where you're driving. Can yo

RACHELMy mobile buzzed relentlessly, penetrating my slumber and forcing me awake even though I didn’t want to. After a lot of grumbling and turning, I snatched the phone from the shelf and put it to my ear without checking the caller.“Why are you doing this to me, girl?” I heard Lena’s childlike voice. I squinted, pressing the phone tighter to my ear as my brain slowly registered her voice. That sent me fully awake. “I know I was extreme yesterday, but you don’t have to keep ignoring my calls. Don’t you want me anymore?” I frowned. She was definitely overacting, “Don’t you want to be my friend? And you know very well that I cannot do without you. If you leave me, how do you expect me to breathe?” Her voice trembled at the end as if she wanted to cry, but I could swear she was faking it. She was definitely pretending to be moved to tears because she knew that would make me forgive her instantly.Hissing, I yawned. “I hate that your voice is the first thing I hear as soon as I wake

RACHELWhen I opened my eyes, I saw her standing on the stairs, holding the railings on both sides. She was dressed in a short, white, transparent nightdress. Even with the dim light, I could see her nipples pointing.I sneered, tilting my head to the side. Obviously, she was the devil, but I wasn't in the mood for her tonight. My head was already heavy from the alcohol and the argument with Lena. All I wanted to do was take a bath and tuck myself into bed. So, I kept walking and climbing the stairs.Something about the house felt wrong tonight. Too quiet. Too still, like it was waiting.Just as I reached her, attempting to walk past, she swerved to the right, blocking my path. Inhaling deeply, I ignored her and moved to the left, but she followed suit. I moved to the right; she did the same again. At this point, what she was trying to do was obvious-instigate trouble. But I wouldn't give her the win. Giving her attention would make her feel like she was more than she was-nothing-so I

RACHEL “Is that what upset you?” Lena asked after I finished narrating what happened between Sebastian and me, and she didn’t seem to find anything wrong with it. She stared at me as though she didn’t understand what I had just said. “What do you mean? Are you listening to me at all?” I sat up, gradually getting sober. “He asked me to leave Jeremy. That’s like divorcing him,” I emphasized with my palms. A sharp unease settled in my chest. Divorce. The word sounded too final… too real. As if saying it out loud might actually make it happen. She nodded, thumping her chin. “Okay…? I’m still trying to understand where the problem lies.” My lips parted, and I let out a hollow snicker. “You are unbelievable.” “No, Rachel. You’re the one who’s unbelievable. This Sebastian or whatever gave you candid advice… advice anyone who truly cares about you would give,” Lena’s jaw clenched. It was still dark, but the little rays diffusing from the city were enough for me to see the scowl on her f
