Mike’s scoff was almost a bark.“You expect me to believe that?”

“She knows everything now. There’s nothing left to hide.”

“Bullshit,”Mike snapped.“She might not want me anymore, fine. But she’ll never fully trust you. You don’t get to have her heart. Not really.”

  Adrian didn’t respond at first.

But then Mike’s eyes narrowed, his words caught.

He was staring at something—something just beneath Adrian’s collar.

A faint, pale mark at the curve of his neck. Barely visible, but unmistakable.

  His expression froze. Then shifted.

  Rage. Envy. Realization.

He stepped back half a pace, as if the air had knocked out of him.

But then, calmly, he adjusted the collar of his coat.

His voice came low—measured, but with an unmistakable edge.

“Well, since we’re throwing around the word liar…”

  He stepped forward, gaze steady.

“You want to talk about deception? Let’s talk about you using someone else’s phone to send that message to her. Pretending it came from someone she tru

The storm of their bodies had stilled, but neither moved. Adrian lay half-curled around her, their limbs tangled, her cheek resting against his bare chest where his heartbeat thudded in a quiet, steady rhythm. Emily’s fingers traced idle circles on his side, slow and absentminded, as if she were memorizing the shape of him all over again. He kissed the top of her head. “I don’t want to leave,”he murmured, voice husky with sleep.“Just a few more days and I’ll be gone for a month. I already miss you.” Emily tightened her arms around him without a word, burying her face a little deeper against him. “Me too,”she whispered.“But I’ll be right here. Waiting.” He let out a breath that sounded like both relief and ache, and pulled the blanket higher over them, pressing a lingering kiss to her temple. ⸻ The next morning. Sunlight poured softly through the curtains. In the quiet kitchen, the smell of toasted sourdough and coffee lingered in the air. Emily, still barefoot in

She was close—so close. Her body trembled at the edge, every nerve taut, desperate for release.“Adrian…” she gasped, the word a breathless plea, her head tipping back, eyes fluttering shut.He didn’t slow. Didn’t falter. His grip on her thigh tightened; his other hand anchored her hip as he drove into her with a fierce, steady rhythm. The intensity was overwhelming—her core clenched, her thighs shook, and the heat deep in her belly snapped like a pulled wire. Her climax hit hard.A cry tore from her throat, raw and broken, as pleasure surged through her like a wave crashing without mercy. Her body convulsed, her inner walls tightening in rhythmic spasms that made her entire frame shudder. Her nails dug into his back. Her leg trembled where it rested on his shoulder.Still, Adrian didn’t stop. His breath was ragged, almost animal, eyes dark with need that hadn’t dulled. He kept moving—slower now, deeper—drawing out the aftershocks that made her whimper, too sensitive to bear it, too w

Emily blinked, startled. “Adrian—”she whispered, barely getting the word out before his lips found hers again—deeper this time, no longer asking, only answering. The air between them changed—softness giving way to something more electric, more charged. His hands moved with reverence, like he was memorizing her all over again. Her breath hitched when his fingers found hers, lacing them together, grounding her even as the rest of her felt like it was coming undone. Steam still lingered faintly on her skin from the bath. Every inch of her felt warm, sensitized, like the lines between comfort and desire had quietly blurred. The room, dimly lit and silent, held its breath around them. Adrian’s gaze followed the curve of her bare shoulder where the robe had slipped slightly. He didn’t speak, but something in his eyes deepened—dark as ink, soft as velvet. Emily shifted, meaning to adjust the robe—but his hand came up first, gently easing it back into place. His fingers linger

Emily didn’t say a word. She walked over barefoot, the hem of her robe brushing her ankles, and quietly climbed onto the bed. She curled herself sideways into his space, resting her head gently against his hip, one arm loosely draped across his waist. At first, Adrian didn’t notice. His fingers were still moving across the trackpad, eyes flicking across lines of text. Then he paused. Looked down. A smile softened his face. Wordlessly, he reached out and stroked her hair—slow, deliberate, fond. Then, without a sound, he closed the laptop. And the room settled into a peace that needed no explanation. Adrian pulled her gently into his arms, drawing the blanket over both of them as they settled into the hush of the night. Just as his breathing began to steady against her neck, Emily whispered,“I just remembered something.” He hummed lightly, eyes still closed.“What is it?” She hesitated, then said softly,“I found out a few days ago…that you’re the sole investor

Emily’s brows furrowed sharply.“What? When did that happen?” Adrian looked at her, his voice quiet but precise. “Five years ago. May 18th.” He pulled out his phone, unlocked it, and tapped a few times before handing it to her. A message appeared on the screen— May 18th. From:Emily. “I might not be able to come out much these days. There’s a guy helping me study now—we’re doing revision together at my place. I like him. I’ll be studying with him from now on, so I won’t bother you anymore. Thank you.” Adrian watched her closely. “This wasn’t you, was it? Because you came to see me on the 20th. So there’s no way you sent this.” Emily’s eyes scanned the message, her expression darkening with every word. Her hand tightened around the phone. Her voice dropped into a disbelieving fury. “Mike is such a piece of—” She cut herself off, jaw clenched.“Unbelievable.” Adrian reached for her hand, his fingers firm but warm. Adrian reached for her hand, steady and warm
