Alessia didn’t sleep.

She didn’t even try.

She lay in bed, stiff as a corpse, eyes locked on the ceiling as the hours dragged by like a funeral march. The dark pressed in around her.

Sometimes she was crying without realizing it, silent tears soaking into the pillow. Sometimes her hands clenched the sheets in white-knuckled fists, rage humming beneath her skin.

Mostly, she just waited.

Waited for her phone to ring.

Waited for a voice on the other end that made her sick.

Waited for any sliver of proof that Silvio was still alive.

Her thoughts spiraled. Was he cold? Was he bleeding out somewhere in the dark? Was he calling for her?

By the time the sky started to pale with early morning light, her nerves were shot. Her throat ached. Her heart felt like it had been clawed out, stitched back in, and set on fire.

And then, her phone lit up on the nightstand. It was Rino's number. Her breath caught in her throat. It rang once. She grabbed the phone

Hey everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the book so far. I know there’s a lot going on right now, and I just want to say how much I appreciate every single one of you for sticking with me through it. Let’s be real, this wouldn’t be my story without the drama, angst, pain, betrayal, and a little revenge thrown in. I truly can’t write without the chaos, and honestly... would you even want me to? 😈 Thank you so much for being here and loving this messy, emotional ride with me. XOXO 💋

  • I Saved the Mafia Boss—Now I'm His Obsession.    Chapter 86 - You deserve someone

Told from Afar 𓎢𓎠𓎟𖦁‎𓎟𓎠𓎡 Alessia sank into the leather backseat of the car, her coat still draped over her lap. The city lights streaked past her window, but her thoughts were still in the basement of Saint Agatha’s. Still echoing with Rino Lombardi’s voice. When the car finally slowed to a stop outside the Capone estate, Alessia stepped out into the chilled evening air and stood for a moment under the front arch. She needed a plan. A way to talk Vincenzo down from whatever hellfire he was preparing to unleash. Maybe this time, he’d listen. But not yet. Not before she checked on someone else. She crossed the foyer, her pace unhurried and turned down the east wing. Vincenzo’s side. But the second she stepped in, she knew it was empty. Claire wasn’t here. Alessia frowned. She retraced her steps, walking back through the main corridor, passing portraits and locked doors until she reached her own wing. She opened the door, already halfway thinking about kicking her heels

Told from Afar 𓎢𓎠𓎟𖦁‎𓎟𓎠𓎡 He turned slowly. His eyes found her, scanned her head to toe, neck, waist, legs, back up again. A dark smile curved his lips. “Look at you,” he said quietly, the smoke curling between them. “Dressed for a funeral. Is it mine or yours?” Alessia stepped forward, “That depends,” she said, “Are you here to kill me, Rino?” He smiled wider, “If I were, do you think I’d do it in a chapel? Even I’m not that blasphemous.” She rolled her eyes, “You’re plenty blasphemous... just not stupid.” She noticed that glint in his eye, the one she remembered from a thousand years ago, when she was young and furious and too naive to know what a man like Rino Lombardi could become. He tilted his head, that infuriating smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Now what could the infamous ice queen Alessia Capone possibly have to say to a peasant like me?” She sighed, already tired of him, “Call your wolves off, Rino. Tell your son to stand down. Withdraw the demand fo

  • I Saved the Mafia Boss—Now I'm His Obsession.    Chapter 84 - Took you long enough

Told from Afar 𓎢𓎠𓎟𖦁‎𓎟𓎠𓎡 Alessia couldn't stop pacing back and forth. Back and forth. Her bare feet dragged across the rug like she didn’t even feel the floor under them anymore. Her nephew’s voice echoed in her skull like a warning shot that never stopped ringing. “Let’s just say I’ve got a smoking gun and their graves already dug.” What did he mean by that? She shook her head, she knew exactly what he meant but it was the coldness in his voice, the finality of it, that had her stomach twisted in knots. Adriano wasn’t bluffing. He wasn’t capable of bluffing. When he said he’d end the Lombardis, he meant bloodline, name, legacy, wiped clean. He'd do it. She sat down on the edge of the bed with a slow exhale, her spine straight but every muscle buzzing. Her eyes flicked to the phone on the nightstand. She hated this, she hated how quiet everything had gotten since she shut the family out. She’d sent a dozen texts to Allegra’s number, even more to Scott but all went unan

Adelina, face streaked with tears, voice trembling, confessing everything on camera like a girl with a knife to her throat. “Few hours ago,” I said flatly. Luca’s jaw ticked, “And you didn’t think to tell me?” I turned my head slowly, looking him dead in the eye. “Why? So you could light a candle and bake her another cake?” His whole posture changed. Shoulders rolled back and mouth flattened. “What the fuck’s that supposed to mean?” I pushed off the table, “Is there something you wanna confess, Luca? Something I should know? You got a thing for birthday girls locked in cells beneath our feet? You make a habit of bringing chocolate to the enemy’s little sister, or is this some brand-new kink I missed?” He took a step forward, “Don’t fucking go there, Adriano.” “Oh, I’m already there.” Vincenzo still hadn’t sai

Madeleine 𓎢𓎠𑄻𑄾𓎠𓎡 I blinked, or maybe I didn't and my eyelids just fluttered. I couldn't tell where sleep ended and awareness began, everything felt heavy and distant. My eyelids peeled open slow, sluggish, like they'd been glued shut. The lights above were too white. My mouth tasted like metal. My head... my head was cotton and static. Beep. Beep. Beep. There was a rhythm somewhere. It took me a second to realize it wasn’t in my chest, it was the monitor beside me. A little green heartbeat line dancing calmly while I lay there. My fingers twitched. There was tape on the back of my hand. An IV. Drip. Drip. Drip. Where the hell was I? I turned my head slowly, the movement was tight in my neck, and everything swam for a moment. The room tilted. I blinked hard, twice. It was a hospital. Wait—what?! My chest squeezed. I was at the animal Sanctuary with Adriano. I was... I was kissing him. We were kissing. And then everything was gone. No pain, just a drop off a clif

  • I Saved the Mafia Boss—Now I'm His Obsession.    Chapter 81 - Believe the lie.

Adriano ⫘☠︎︎⫘ I saw the glint of the rifle scope before I heard the breeze shift. Twelve o’clock. Elevated. Treeline. And not a fucking coincidence. I didn't think. I reacted. Madeleine was still talking, still smiling at me, sweet and soft and so painfully unaware of the red dot flickering just inches from the back of her skull. I moved. My hand wrapped around the base of her neck like a cradle, gentle for half a second, and then I slammed her forward into my chest, let her head fall just right. I knew exactly where to hit. The pressure point behind the ear. It would knock her out cold, no pain, no memory. Just lights out. She went limp in my arms, a soft exhale leaving her lips. Then I heard the crack. Gunshot. It barely fucking missed. I dropped down, taking her with me, rolling us both off the blanket and behind the bulk of my duffel. She was dead weight in my lap, fragile and small, her head resting against my thigh. I reached into the bag, past the food containe
