CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT: Convince Him

“Everything about her. What does she like? Favourite food, color, place. I want to know her more.” My grip on my sweatpants loosened after telling him the question. I was just getting started. I have a lot of questions for him.

Morbid drew on his face. He reached for the picture frame that was placed on his desk. He ran his palm down the surface.

“I know nothing about her in particular. We live under one roof but we don’t talk much. We were together for more than nineteen years but she’s behind my reach. All I know is she likes jewelries and designer dress, bags, and shoes.” Sadness dulled his eyes. “Her entire life, all I did was feed her and gave her material things. I thought they were enough.” He was speaking from his heart. He was telling me how bad he is as a father. I didn’t just heard him, I felt him.

“Every father have different ways on how to show their love for their children,” I said and when he lifted his head, our eyes met. His lips instantly formed a smile.
