Chapter 3

Author: Wedding Seven
On the day of the wedding, everything went smoothly and wonderfully.

At the largest luxury hotel in Metro City, flowers covered the long carpet leading to the stage.

Hank, dressed as my best man, dutifully handed me the rings onstage.

Wilma looked at me with tears in her eyes as she exchanged vows with me. She said that I was the only man she would ever love in this lifetime.

During the toasting session, I had several drinks with my relatives.

Despite normally having an excellent tolerance for alcohol, I soon began to feel dizzy and weak in the limbs.

Hank helped me to the hotel lounge.

"Tim, rest for a while here. Wilma's handling things out front. I'll come get you after the reception ends, and we'll head home."

Hank drew the curtains for me.

I forced my heavy eyelids open and glanced at him before falling into a deep sleep.

I didn't know how long I had been asleep before I was awakened by a sudden chill.

I opened my eyes. Everything around me was pitch-black, and I was still lying in the hotel lounge.

I fumbled for my phone and turned it on. Its screen cast a harsh light in the darkness.

Immediately after that, the web app suddenly appeared at the center of the screen.

[It should be your wedding night now. You woke up at eight, didn't you?]

I checked the time. It was accurate down to the minute.

The uneasiness I had ignored earlier instantly returned with a vengeance.

No matter how poor my tolerance for alcohol was, there was no way a single drink could have knocked me out for so long, especially without me waking up once.

As if it could read my mind, another message from my future self appeared.

[Hank drugged your drink with sleeping pills. I know this is hard for you to believe, but I have to tell you the truth. In my timeline, they caused both my parents to die and destroyed my family. Wilma eventually drove me to jump from a building, leaving me paralyzed from the waist down! I lived a fate worse than death!]

[Wilma will use every means at her disposal to seize your family's assets. Hank has been jealous of everything you had from the beginning.]

[Tonight, on your wedding night, you're sleeping alone in a cold hotel lounge. Meanwhile, they're leaving their traces and scent in every corner of your marital home!]

[When I eventually learned the truth and confronted Wilma, she shamelessly said, "I married you and let everyone know you're my husband. What more do you want? I hope you won't interfere with where my heart lies!"]

I was completely stunned. It felt like all the blood in my body had frozen solid.

Considering the fact that I was still in the lounge, Wilma hadn't taken me home, and Hank, who had promised to come get me, had never shown up, this might all be true.

I didn't dare think any further. I stumbled to my feet and prepared to hail a cab back to our marital home.

But the moment I stepped out of the room, I suddenly stopped.

Forcing myself to calm down, I retrieved my phone and sent a message to both Wilma's and my parents, as well as several family group chats.

[Dad, Mom, everyone, Wilma is missing! I woke up alone at the hotel and couldn't find her anywhere. She's not answering her phone either. I'm worried something happened to her. Can everyone come to the marital home and help me look for her?]

As soon as the message went out, everyone immediately panicked and said they would head over.

I arrived at the upscale neighborhood where our marital home was located before the relatives did.

I waited downstairs until both our parents and eight other relatives had arrived. The large group of us anxiously made our way up to the 26th floor.

Holding the key, I opened the door with an expressionless face.

The apartment was dim, and only a few wall lamps were left on.

Wilma's wedding dress and high heels were scattered across the living room.

I led my relatives toward the master bedroom. As soon as we got close, we heard rustling noises coming from inside.

I kicked the door open and immediately switched on the bedroom's main light.

Wilma's nightmare was far from over.Since she had been involved in illegally purchasing an organ and falsifying medical records to defraud investors, the police officially opened an investigation into her.The day Wilma was arrested, I went to the police station as a member of the victim's family.Through the glass of the visitation room, I saw Wilma in a prison uniform. Her hair was disheveled. The elegance and arrogance she once carried were completely gone. The moment she saw me, she ran to the glass, and tears streamed down her face. "Tim! Tim, please save me! I know I was wrong! I'll pay all the money back! Just ask your dad to drop the charges, okay? I don't want to go to prison!"I looked at her coldly like I couldn't care less."Wilma, you should be grateful you were arrested. The loan sharks outside are searching everywhere for you. If you get out, they'll probably kill you."Wilma slid helplessly into the chair, covered her face, and burst into tears."As for Hank."

Thirty minutes later, a police car came to a screeching halt downstairs. The officers came upstairs and frowned at the mess throughout the apartment and Hank, who was still disheveled and barely dressed.I explained everything truthfully and requested an immediate blood test at the hospital. The police escorted the terrified Hank and the pale-faced Wilma away to the same police car.At the hospital's emergency department, the blood test results came back quickly. My blood did indeed contain a large dose of sleeping medication. With the evidence conclusive, Hank was arrested on suspicion of deliberately causing harm to me.At the same time, Ian pulled strings overnight and obtained all the surveillance footage and confidential medical records from the private hospital where I had undergone my kidney transplant years ago. It was the same hospital where Wilma supposedly donated her kidney.Under pressure from money and influence, the doctor Wilma had bribed years ago finally confe

Seeing how furious my dad was, Wilma immediately crawled over and tried to grab my leg. "Tim! I was wrong, but I really do have genuine feelings for you! You can't forget about everything I've done just because I made one mistake!"She raised her head and looked at me. There was a hint of madness in her eyes."Tim, have you forgotten? Three years ago, when you suffered kidney failure, I donated my kidney to you! I gave you my life! Isn't that enough to make up for this mistake?"When my parents heard the words 'donated my kidney,' their expressions changed slightly. That had always been the biggest reason I trusted Wilma without question.Just as I fell silent, the phone in my pocket vibrated again.I pulled it out.It was a message from my future self.[There's something else. She never donated her kidney to you! She used the 300 grand your father originally gave her as startup capital to buy a kidney on the black market! The scar on her body was simply a superficial incision

Seeing that there was no way to salvage the situation, Hank decided to go all in.He suddenly looked up with bloodshot eyes and glared viciously at me. "Tim, why did you hit her? What right do you have to lay a hand on her?"Do you think you're the victim? Wilma and I have been together for seven years!"You only got in the way because you were relying on your family's money and connections! If it weren't for you, Wilma would have married me a long time ago. You're the homewrecker here!"Hank's blatant attempt to twist the truth shocked everyone present.I laughed in sheer anger. "Seven years? Why didn't you tell me I was the third party seven years ago? Why only tell me now?"Hank clenched his jaw. His eyes filled with jealousy and resentment. "Wilma needed your family's resources and money to start her business. She begged me to pretend!"I endured all of that for the woman I loved. I had to watch the two of you flaunt your love in front of me. Do you have any idea what I've b

"Tim! Why would you look at a cat in the middle of the night?"Wilma grabbed the curtain and tried to stop me. "This is our wedding night, and Mom and Dad have been exhausted all day. Let them go home and rest!"The more she tried to stop us, the more suspicious our relatives became. My parents were the first to sense something was wrong. My dad Ian Luther walked over with a stern expression. "Wilma, move aside."If Tim wants to look, let him. This apartment is on the 26th floor. What kind of stray cat could possibly climb this high?""Mr. Luther, there's really nothing to see. It's windy outside, and it's dangerous–" Wilma was still desperately trying to resist.I could no longer stand her pretentious behavior. I grabbed her wrist and violently shoved her aside.Whoosh!I yanked aside the heavy blackout curtains and opened the massive floor-to-ceiling sliding window in the master bedroom. The hot summer night air instantly rushed into the room. It was accompanied by gasps fro

Wilma was alone on the large bed.Apparently awakened by the sudden brightness, she sat up from beneath the covers with her shoulders bare. She rubbed her eyes. The moment she saw me, a smile immediately appeared on her face. "Honey, there you are! I thought you were playing hide-and-seek with me."With that, she threw off the covers and got out of bed to hug me.My relatives behind me barged into the room.Wilma froze. The smile on her face instantly disappeared. She clearly wasn't expecting so many people to show up."Oh, look at these newlyweds playing around!" My eldest uncle joked. "Tim, Wilma was right here sleeping peacefully. You're making a fuss over nothing."I ignored their teasing and stared at the messy bed. An indescribable scent lingered in the air.I coldly shook off Wilma's hand, turned toward the wardrobe, and yanked it open. Nobody was inside.I went into the bathroom and pulled open the shower curtain. Nobody was there.I then checked the guest bedroom and
