Chapter 4

Author: Ringing Bells
They claimed that I had bribed a staff member and plotted that incident.

Luther immediately accused me. “Oliver, I was supposed to stand in Nate’s position… However, I felt that Nate’s original position wasn’t ideal, so I switched places with him so he could have a chance to shine.

“Oliver, is it because you wanted to harm me, but you accidentally harmed Nate instead? How could you do that to me?

“Camila, Oliver’s insane…”

Because of Luther’s immediate accusations, everyone believed him.

Ruth broke my fingers, and Camila forced me to disfigure my own face with a knife.

My parents immediately sent me to a mental asylum.

“You’re too vicious. You don’t deserve everything that we gave you.”

Those two years were the most horrific, hopeless years in my life. I would never forget it.

No, I did not want to go back to that life!

I suppressed my fear and tried to sound calm.

“I never caused that accident. That time, the staff member mentioned that someone from the Anderson family had bribed him. Why would that person be me and not Luther?

“If it was truly me, why couldn’t they provide evidence of the transaction? There isn’t any solid proof!

“Luther said that I wanted to harm him and Nate, but he was the one who arranged the position for us when we took photos after the performance! How would I be certain of everyone’s specific spots?”

I remembered clearly how Luther had hinted at me to stand at the spot Nate was standing at. He claimed that it was the best spot for the photo.

However, I did not want to take Nate’s spotlight, so I turned him down.

Who was the true culprit?

Even though they had no evidence, why would they nail me on the cross after a few crocodile tears from Luther?

I did not expect them to come to their senses. I just wanted them to calm down and realize that they had misunderstood me. I wanted them to let me leave.

However, just like the past, it was dead silent. Everyone was staring coldly at me with hostile eyes.

“Enough, you’re the one who always bullied Luther. How would he be capable of harming someone else?

“We thought you’ve learned to be better. But it’s obvious that you’re still the same!”

They looked disappointed. They did not notice the guilt flashing in Luther’s eyes.

It was not my fault at all! The culprit was just next to me, but I had to take the blame!

Why?

“No, it really isn’t me…”

I still wanted to explain myself, but I suddenly recalled the night when I was sent to the mental asylum two years ago. My voice went hoarse after I tried to explain myself, but no one believed me.

I could not help but laugh helplessly as I broke down.

“Camila, Mom, Dad, please don’t force him anymore. Oliver’s going crazy. Let him rest.”

My parents no longer looked at me, and Camila looked away in disgust.

Only Ruth had complicated emotions in her eyes. Even though she looked disappointed, she also seemed guilty.

However, I really wanted to leave this family.

I looked at Ruth with pleading eyes.

“Ruth, we grew up together. You knew that I was very close to Nate.

“Why would I harm him? It doesn’t serve any purpose to me!”

Ruth remained quiet for a while. Then, she let out a long sigh under my expectant gaze.

“Oliver, you’ll be the only son of the Anderson family if Luther’s gone.

“Isn’t that why you’d want to hurt him?”

Camila’s voice was icy.

“Even though you’re no longer locked up in the mental asylum, you still haven’t redeemed yourself.

“From tomorrow onwards, you have to take care of Nate personally at the hospital. If he doesn’t regain consciousness, you’ll have to take care of him forever. If he dies, you can die with him too.”

Of course, I was not going to answer them. Initially, I had wanted to get a good sleep. I had been rudely awakened. I walked to the gate. Ruth grabbed my sleeve. She looked at me guiltily, but she did not dare to meet my gaze. “Oliver, where are you going? Won’t you stay home? I’ll take you for treatment tomorrow! I’ll make sure to treat your fingers!”My parents also ran over to stop me. “Oliver, please, don’t leave us.“Are you really going to desert us?”I struggled free. Before I left, I turned around and looked at them. “Have you not once suspected Luther at all back then?”Their faces immediately became pale. I laughed. Of course they did. However, they chose to sacrifice me instead. I still had some money in my bank account. I had saved the money in the past as I wanted to buy Ruth a birthday present. It was enough for me to get a hotel room, buy a new phone, and a new phone number. I also bought a ticket to River City. The next morning, I went to the

In the end, he went to Nate and offered him his spot. Nate was young. He had only been learning piano for a few years, so he wanted a good spot to get more exposure. Naturally, he agreed happily. “Camila, when I passed out, I really saw him passing money to a staff member!“I swear I’m telling the truth. He used a different account to transfer the money. We can trace it!” After Nate finished speaking, it was dead silent in the ward. Luther voiced up first. He shook his head fiercely and glared at Nate. “Nate, did you misremember it? Oliver’s medicine is acting up! It caused Nate to talk nonsense!“Camila, since young, Oliver has been bullying me. When did I harm him? Did Oliver buy Nate over to turn Nate against me?”His explanation was futile. Camila loved Nate a lot. There was nothing I could offer that would change Nate’s mind. However, I no longer wanted to speak up. I had lost the desire to speak after many years of distrust. I did not care if they believed me.

I met her gaze calmly. Camila, what about you? Were you happy? Was everyone happy? If I tortured myself and fulfilled their expectations to redeem myself, they should be happy about it, right?Luther never managed to put the ring onto Camila’s finger. Luther smiled awkwardly and urged Camila. Before Camila could speak, someone yelled, “Ms. Reid, Mr. Reid has regained consciousness!” Camila abandoned everyone and rushed to the hospital. My parents brought us to the hospital too. Nate was lying on the hospital bed as he held Camila’s hand. He looked fragile and helpless. The doctors said that due to the long coma, his consciousness was still blurry. We would have to wait until nightfall before he could start speaking. Camila was over the moon. My parents and Ruth also congratulated her. Luther was the only one standing in the corner. He looked frazzled. “Doctor, are you sure Nate is alright? Why did he suddenly wake up?”The doctor was also surprised. “We also didn’t

At the priest’s direction, Luthor took out the ring. He was about to put the ring on Camila’s finger when he suddenly looked in my direction. “I have loved Camila for many years, but Oliver loves her too.“I know I don’t deserve Camila, but I respect Camila’s choice for choosing me!“I just hope Oliver will forgive me and play a song for us on the piano as a form of blessing.”Camila and I were once engaged for a really long time. However, in order to take it out on me, she posted a statement online and claimed that Luther was the one she loved all along. I suddenly became the homewrecker in their relationship. Everyone was looking at me in disdain. They were waiting for me to take off my gloves to play a song for him.I looked at my parents and Ruth. “Do you really want me to take my gloves off?”My parents frowned and hesitated. Ruth was seated near where Luther stood. She stopped him. “Luther, enough. It’s your wedding today. Focus on your wedding ceremony.”Luth

“You can’t afford to risk Nate’s life.“Why are you still putting on an act?“No one’s allowed to feed Nate anything. Otherwise, I’m going to make your life a living hell.” I laughed. “Alright.” Camila glared at me, but she did not ask me to leave. She only wanted me to take care of Nate at the hospital to let everyone know that I was the culprit. I had to take care of him day and night, and I had to bear all the harsh words from others. “I don’t understand why such vicious monsters exist. He almost married Ms. Reid.” “Fortunately, Ms. Reid is dating Luther now.”“Have you heard? They’re getting married next month! They’re going to have a grand wedding. It’s been going all over the news!” I clenched my fists to stop myself from reacting. When I was seventeen years old, Camila and I had discussed our grand wedding.I once said that I wanted to turn her into a princess. I wanted everyone to know how much I loved her. However, she became someone who hated me the mo

I finally understood. There was no trust between us. All my explanations were hilariously ridiculous to them. I shut up. From that day on, I kept my mouth shut. I looked at them silently as they discussed the wedding in the living room. “Luther, you’ve suffered all these years. We’ll transfer twenty percent of Anderson Corporation’s stock to you to make it up to you.” “Luther, I don’t have anything to give you as your older sister. Back then, I had reserved a venue in River City for a seaside concert. When you have your honeymoon with Camila, I’ll make the concert come true for you.”“Luther, let’s relocate overseas after we get married, alright?”Everything that once belonged to me became Luther’s. Only I seemed to spot his vicious smile. No one else took notice. Camila sent me to the hospital to take care of Nate. That night, I sat next to Nate’s hospital bed. Camila had sent someone to keep an eye on me, so I did not manage to sleep at all. The next morning, I bo
