Chapter 4

Author: Not Drunk
Phoebe was so overwhelmed by the enormous surprise that she hurriedly agreed.

"Simon, as long as I'm here, no one will ever spill the beans about what happened five years ago."

As I struggled, I felt Phoebe's dark gaze fall on me, and I shuddered. Just as she approached with a pair of scissors, a pretty figure stepped in front of me.

I looked up, only to find that it was Haley, the one who had always protected me the most. She spread her arms to block Phoebe and said something that sent me plunging into an abyss of despair.

"Phoebe, you want to take credit in front of Simon, don't you? I won't allow it!"

Kayla also stepped forward and stood next to Phoebe. "Didn't the three of us agree to compete fairly? How could you do this without discussing it with us, Phoebe?"

I watched as the three women fought over who got the "honor" of cutting off my tongue. A bitter smile spread across my face.

Weren't the years I spent in prison enough time for me to see them for their true colors? Why did my heart still hurt now?

The three were still arguing relentlessly when a staff member of the auction house appeared.

"The auction is about to begin!"

Three strikes of the auctioneer's gavel rang out, signaling the start of this evening's main event.

Perhaps their desire to marry Simon outweighed their current urge to silence me for good. The three exchanged glances, then walked toward the stage side by side.

As Simon passed me, he kicked me hard and grinned smugly at the sight of me spitting blood.

"I'll let you enjoy yourself for a few more days. You'll get to watch as I replace you completely and have my fun with them. Once I've had my fill, you can have them back."

The crowd around us followed behind the three women, stepping over me as they passed. They made sure to leave their footprints all over me, as if offering proof of their allegiance to Simon.

I lay on the floor like an abandoned dog, yet the corners of my mouth slowly curled into a smile.

The real show was about to begin.

The first few lots were nothing special, and in less than half an hour, the final lot had arrived—the chance to marry Simon.

He stood in the center, surrounded by the three women, and met my gaze through the crowd.

"Loser." He silently mouthed the word at me, raising an eyebrow with a wicked grin.

Phoebe, Kayla, and Haley fought to raise their paddles. In the end, they were even willing to stake their entire fortunes to make the winning bid and claim the prize.

Watching the three women who had once stood high above everyone else exhaust themselves trying to win the chance to marry him filled Simon with immense satisfaction.

Money, status, and women. There were the things he once hated that I had. But now, he was confident he was going to have far more than I ever did.

Just as the bidding between the three women reached its fiercest point, Simon clapped his hands and stood up.

"I know the three of you love me. If there's a way to keep the four of us from breaking each other's hearts, would you be willing to do it?"

Simon took the three women's debit cards and held them in his hand.

"Who says we can't have three weddings? Who says true love has to belong to only one person? At tonight's auction, I've already seen how sincere you all are. I am willing to—"

"Hold it!"

Simon's words were interrupted by a woman who opened the door and walked in, wearing a fitted dress and four-inch heels. He was instantly drawn by the sway of her hips as she walked.

"May I know your name, miss?" he asked.

Without even looking at Simon, the woman walked past him. She got up on stage and placed a USB drive on the display.

"This is the final lot on auction today, brought to you by Mr. Ian Luther. Enjoy."

Amy glared darkly at Phoebe, who was lingering at the door for reasons unknown, her voice ominous. "How I wish I could send her right down to hell with a kick."Amused by her childish rant, I reached over and ruffled her hair. "Let her in. It's time to put an end to all this."Phoebe was overjoyed when she saw the door open. But now that she could enter, she started getting afraid. She took a deep breath and walked into the villa, looking like she was here for her final judgment. The moment she sat down, Amy shot her a sidelong glance. "You're going to need to wait. The other two aren't here yet."Once Kayla and Haley had both taken their seats on the couch, Phoebe suddenly got the feeling that this wasn't a good thing.I looked down from the top of the stairs. When I saw the three women sitting meekly on the couch, I couldn't help but recall the first time I met them.Afraid their dirty clothes would stain the expensive couch, the three of them had only dared to perch on the ver

Meanwhile, Simon was deluded enough to think he could make a run for it. He had Phoebe, Kayla, and Haley's debit cards in his pocket. All he had to do was escape from the auction house. He could already envision the life of pure luxury that awaited him.Just as he opened the doors, feeling as though hope was within reach, he found a sea of bodyguards waiting for him to deliver himself right up to them.Even when Simon was pinned to the floor, he still hadn't realized what was happening."Let me go! Let me go!"A pair of boots appeared in front of him. Simon looked up, his breathing quickening. "I didn't mean to do any of that, Mr. Johnson. You're the bigger man. Please spare me just this once!"Eric raised an eyebrow and dusted the air in front of him. "Why do I hear a dog barking? Don't let it sully my auction house. Take it away and wash its filthy mouth out."His stern expression instantly softened when he saw me, and he hurried over to tell me, "Ian! I found a doctor who can

Like everyone else, I turned toward Amy, who shrugged. "Oops. Sorry about that. I pressed the wrong button by mistake. But why are all of you looking at me like that? Was this some kind of dirty little secret that shouldn't have been exposed?"Phoebe and Kayla froze. Even Haley, who was still lying on the floor, turned to look at Simon."Simon, what did you mean by that? What do you mean you made up the stories? What is that supposed to mean?"Kayla, who had always been the calmest of the three, was actually the first to lose control. She grabbed Simon by the collar, her body trembling uncontrollably."Answer me, Simon! What did you mean by that?"A flicker of panic crossed Simon's face, but he quickly regained his composure."Kayla, it's obvious that they created a fake recording with my voice! Are you seriously going to let such a clumsy forgery fool you?"Unfortunately for him, the next second, a video began playing on the giant screen."Once I've had my fun with all three w

Amy set the opening bid extremely low—one cent. She glanced at Simon, who was sweating profusely, and announced loudly, "For everyone here, the incriminating evidence on this USB drive is hardly worth anything. You might even think it's just a joke. But for certain people, this one cent could doom them for life."The auctioneer brought down the gavel. "The auction is now open."Almost instantly, Phoebe raised her paddle and bid one million. She turned to look at Kayla, her gaze determined. "Kayla, Haley is already out of the running. Don't compete with me. I'll marry Simon, and you keep the promise we made by marrying Ian. Isn't that a win-win for everyone?"Kayla shook her head and raised her paddle. "Two million."The two of them continued bidding back and forth, driving the price all the way up to 100 million.Simon smiled and slipped over to me while no one was paying attention. He came over to gloat."Well, Ian, I bet you never thought you'd end up like this, huh? You have

Kayla, who was the most level-headed of the three, stepped forward with a frown as she started questioning Amy. "Everyone knows this auction house belongs to Mr. Johnson. Don't you think you're disrespecting him by pulling a stunt like this here?"She was referring to Eric Johnson, who was the strange man I met in prison. He was Amy's boss.Snorting, Amy looked at the crowd and declared, "Mr. Luther is Mr. Johnson's representative tonight. If you're dissatisfied with the current situation, feel free to take it up with Mr. Luther."The people in attendance exchanged glances before bursting into raucous laughter.Only the four of them—Simon and the three women—stood amid the crowd with grim expressions, seemingly distracted by their thoughts.I snapped my fingers, and the video on the screen switched to one showing how Phoebe had swapped my DNA with Simon's.Everyone started muttering about what was displayed on the screen, while Phoebe's expression darkened."Ian! The moment Amy Davis finished speaking, the crowd broke into an uproar. Doubtful eyes fell on me, and only then did everyone realize that at some point, I'd managed to get back on my feet."Did I hear that right? Ian Luther? The impostor?""Everyone knows that this auction house requires bidders to put up an amount equal to the value of an item to prevent it from going unsold. Can Ian even afford that?""Simon beat him into a pulp just now, didn't he? What's Ian up to now?"Simon stared obsessively at Amy, who was still onstage. His eyes kept roaming over her graceful figure. He was so captivated that he hadn't even heard what she had said."Simon! Simon!"Phoebe shot Amy a glare and tugged on Simon's sleeve."Stop bothering me! Can't you see I'm busy?"Annoyed, Simon shoved Phoebe, knocking her to the floor.Amy smirked and walked down, her hips swaying. Simon hurried forward to meet her."I'm Simon Luther, the real son of the Luther family. May I know your name?"To his di
