Chapter 3

Alex stared at her phone in disbelief. How the hell did he figure out her username? She never used her full name on her socials. She opened the text and sent him her phone number. Alex preferred phone calls over texts because she never responded to people.

Less than a minute later her phone rang.

"How did you find me?" Alex giggled.

"I found the guy your friend was making out with, he gave me her username so I went onto her account and found you. I really missed you and wanted to hear your voice again"

Part of Alex thought this was creepy but it also didn't count because it was a dashingly handsome man.

"You're sweet Oliver. I hope we can meet up again soon."

"I'd love nothing more." His deep voice sent chills down Alex's spine.

"Listen. Is it okay if we spoke tomorrow. I feel exhausted." Alex asked while fighting the urge to fall asleep.

"I'd say yes but I have lunch with my best friend Will. I'll call you afterwards alright?"

Alex agreed and hung up.

The next morning

"Hey Peanut." Alex's dad greeted as he stepped into her bedroom. Since Alex was a baby he never bothered using her name. He only used her name when she was in trouble, which was very rare. "You fell asleep before we got home. Aunt Mae is coming over for lunch later on with her new fiance. I just wanted to let you know early so you'd have time to get ready."

Alex let out a laugh at the thought of her aunt getting married. Mae didn't seem like marriage material. The longest she had been with someone was six months. This marriage would definitely go downhill very quickly.

"Aunt Mae? Like aunt Mae, as in your sister?" Alex needed to confirm that the two of them were speaking about the same woman because there was no way her aunt would commit to one person.

"Yes, aunt Mae, as in my sister."

Even William struggled to believe she was getting married. When she told him the news he laughed, hoping it was a joke but unfortunately it wasn't. Aunt Mae Jones was indeed getting married.

"Do you know who she's marrying?" Alex asked and took a sip from the water bottle on the side of her bed.

"Yea actually." William responded and scratched the back of his neck. "I've known him since we were little. We actually work together. The two of us own J&C Enterprise." Alex never knew her dad was a co-owner. She didn't really care too much about that.

"Oh?"

"But anyways Peanut, breakfast is on the table. We'll see you down there." William got up, kissed his daughter on the top of her head and left.

After breakfast Alex took her time getting ready. As soon as she finished she sat down on her bed and waited for her aunt to arrive.

"Hey dipshit, your aunt is here." Theo said as he stood against the door frame. He walked into her bedroom and farted before he burst out laughing.

"You know what I love about you Theodore? Your fucking maturity. You're just so mature." Alex said and pushed passed him.

"Well if it isn't my favourite niece!" Mae pulled Alex in for a hug. Alex hated physical touch. She hated any sort of affection. Mostly from her aunt because Alex knew she didn't mean it.

"I'm your only niece." Alex responded coldly.

Alex pulled away from her aunt and turned to her soon to be uncle. As soon as she laid eyes on him her stomach dropped. His face went from happy to worried. There was no way. She just stared at him till Mae broke the silence.

"Alex, this is my fiance, Oliver. Oliver, this is Alex."

He cleared his throat and put his hand out to shake hers. "It's a pleasure to meet you Alex."

Alex just nodded and walked over to the table. After everyone was seated she found herself seated right across from him. Just perfect.

"Have you guys thought of a date for the wedding?" William asked.

Meanwhile Alex was busy putting all the pieces together. The one guy she craved so very much was getting married to her aunt. Not to mention he was her fathers best friend.

"Not yet but I did want to ask Alex something." Mae said and turned to Alex. "I was wondering if you'd be a bridesmaid at my wedding."

Everyone at the table were smiling. All except Alex and Oliver. Oliver never planned on telling Alex about his fiance.

"She would love to do it." Alex's mother, Scarlett, responded after she noticed Alex wasn't paying attention.

"Why don't we all head to our lake house this weekend?" William suggested and everybody seemed onboard. "Next week is the last week of school so I'm sure we can spend the entire week there."

"Daddy, why do you say it as though we weren't going to the lake house anyways? School holidays are around the corner. Of course we were going to head to the lake house." Alex said with clear irritation in her voice. She wanted Mae and Oliver to know there was nothing special about them and they weren't the reason the family was going to the lake house.

William sat in silence, not knwing what to say to Ale

William bought the lake house a few year ago and used it as a family vacation home. The family would often go on trips, including Ava.  As much as Alex didn't want Ava to go with, she needed her to come with to help get her mind off of her aunts fiance.

At the end of lunch the whole family went into the backyard to listen to music and have a few drinks. Alex went up to her bedroom and decided to call Ava.

"What are you doing next weekend and for the rest of the week after that?" Alex asked as soon as Ava picked up.

"Nothing much, why?"

Alex stood by her window and watched her family in the yard. She couldn't help but feel angry. He could have at least told her he was engaged. Alex wasn't a homewrecker and never planned on being one. In that moment she shut out all her feelings for him.

"We're going back to the lake house because my dear old aunt is engaged and we need to celebrate."

Ava began to laugh on the other side of the call. "Aunt Mae? Don't bullshit me Alex."

"That was my exact reaction." Alex sighed and sat on her bed.

She had no idea how she was going to survive this trip. Oliver didn't even bother speaking to her all day so it was clear to her that it wouldn't work out between them.

"Is he hot?"

"He's just as hot as Oliver from the club. Matter of fact, it is Oliver from the club. "Alex casually said with a laugh at the end thinking it would lighten her mood but it only upset her more.

Ava stayed quiet as though she was trying to process what her friend had just told her. "Alex you lying piece of shit! You almost had me. Just tell me who she's actually marrying. Stop being such a fucking twat."

"I'm not messing with you Ava! I'm be so fucking serious right now."

After arguing back and forth Ava finally believed her. As soon as the call ends Alex heard a knock on her door. She opened it and suddenly felt someone's lips smash into hers. She pulled back and saw Oliver. He walked into her room and closed the door.

"Oliver get out, I really don't wan-" She was interrupted by his lips slamming into hers once again. This time she didn't pull back. She tilted her head to the side and gave him access to her neck. He gently nibbled on the sensitive area and moved back to her lips.

"I'm sorry Alexandra. I really am." He said with his lips inches from hers.
