Chapter 2

Auteur: Summer Tonic
Not only had Tiffany unleashed online harassment at me, but she had also driven my parents to their deaths.

Frank, the very driver asking me to testify for him, had turned on me just as ruthlessly in the previous timeline, all for attention and to escape blame.

In the previous timeline, he had surprisingly contacted Tiffany a week after the incident. They connected during a livestream and put on a touching performance about a victim and the person who had supposedly been coerced.

Frank broke down in tears in front of the camera, slapping himself as he swore to the millions of viewers that I had forced him into everything that happened that night.

His twisted version of events completely cemented my supposed "crime."

As outrage exploded online, Tiffany and Frank quickly realized how much they could gain from the attention. To keep the momentum going, they even formed a "Victims' Alliance."

They showed up at my home with a professional livestreaming crew and dozens of fanatical followers they had riled up.

My parents were simple, hardworking retirees who had never faced anything like that.

The crowd stormed into our home like a pack of rabid animals, shoving cameras into my parents' faces and demanding that they apologize on my behalf. They shoved my elderly mom around and hurled the cruelest insults at Dad.

"You raised a son accused of assault, and you still have the nerve to stay alive? Like father, like son. Your whole family is trash!"

Dad had already suffered from severe high blood pressure. After they berated him relentlessly, he suddenly convulsed and collapsed to the floor.

Mom screamed for help in tears as she called emergency services, but the influencers and their followers, desperate to keep their livestream numbers up, linked arms and blocked the building entrance, refusing to let the ambulance through.

They said Dad was getting what he deserved and accused him of faking it for sympathy.

By the time the police arrived and forced the crowd to disperse, it was too late.

Dad suffered a brain hemorrhage and missed the critical window for treatment, passing away while on the way to the hospital.

Mom could not cope with the shock and suffered a sudden heart attack. She spent three days in intensive care, but she did not make it either.

In a single week, my family had been torn apart.

As for me, several of Tiffany's fanatical followers ran me over while I was on my way to the hospital to see my parents one last time. They were still cursing and calling me a monster even when I took my final breath.

Meanwhile, Tiffany and Frank made a fortune by exploiting the tragedy that had destroyed my family. They bought luxury cars, moved into mansions, and smiled brightly for their livestream audiences.

One was a vicious, ungrateful opportunist, while the other was a greedy hypocrite. At their core, both of them were driven by nothing but selfishness and malice.

Tiffany's scoff pulled me back to the present.

I shifted closer to the car door, putting as much distance between us as I could.

"I fell asleep just now. I didn't see or hear anything."

I met Frank's eyes in the rearview mirror, my voice perfectly calm.

"Whatever happens between you two, deal with it yourselves. I'm not getting involved."

Tiffany lifted her chin smugly when she heard my reply, convinced her threat had worked.

"See? At least he knows better!"

She rolled her eyes at Frank, her tone growing even more arrogant.

"You're just a broke nobody driving a junker. What makes you think you can challenge me? Just take me downtown already. I don't have all day!"

The corner of Frank's eye twitched violently twice. He looked at me. A sinister glint flashed in his eyes, but he said nothing more.

As the car accelerated again, I lowered my eyes and glanced at the map I had secretly opened on my phone.

'We're going off course. There's no downtown intersection ahead, only a dead-end road leading toward an abandoned reservoir deep in the mountains. Frank is definitely up to no good,' I thought.

I tightened my grip around my phone and, without hesitation, pressed the release on my seat belt.

'Money has a nose sharper than a bloodhound's,' I thought. One moment, they were using Tiffany and her followers to tear me apart online. The next, they saw the tide turning, dropped her without a second thought, and turned around to profit off me instead."You think I'd work with the people pulling the strings behind the scenes who nearly got my entire family killed?"I stared into his eyes without touching the tea in front of me.Leonard's smile slowly faded. He took a drag from his cigar and let the smoke drift into the air."Young man, things aren't always as black-and-white as you think. You may be the hero right now, but online justice rarely lasts more than three days."He leaned closer and lowered his voice. His tone was dripping with the arrogance of someone backed by money and influence."All I have to do is have my network of accounts publish a few articles questioning why you just happened to record everything, then steer the narrative toward the idea that you planne

"Do you think I'd be standing here listening to you haggle with me?"Barbara's expression stiffened for a moment, but she quickly changed her tune."Oh, come on. That was all hypothetical. It didn't actually happen. Why are you being so unreasonable? Do you really have to ruin an entire family before you're satisfied?""I'm ruining you all?" I stepped closer, fixing my eyes on hers. "It was your sons and husbands who came after me with weapons, all because of some influencer they didn't even know. Now you're telling me to show some mercy?"I turned toward the officer handling the mediation, Malcolm Boone. He was seated at the head of the table."Officer Boone, my position is clear. I won't accept any form of financial compensation, and I absolutely will not sign a statement of forgiveness."They're suspected of causing a public disturbance, illegally entering my home, and intentionally destroying my property. They should face whatever punishment the law calls for."As soon as I

Before leaving, Ross pointed a finger in Tiffany's face and tore into her."You're in for a world of trouble! The company's losses and your breach-of-contract penalties are coming out of your pocket. Every last dollar!"Tiffany completely panicked. She could not understand how the millions of followers she had worked so hard to cultivate had turned on her overnight, suddenly eager to tear her apart. She frantically posted explanations across social media, insisting that the recording had been taken out of context and that Frank had threatened her into saying it. However, no one believed her anymore. That was only the beginning. As I watched the engagement on my account surge, I released the final recording: the 911 call I had made from the side of the road after getting out of the car.I pinned the recording to the top of my profile with a short caption: I did what I could.By then, Tiffany had completely broken down. All of her social media accounts were permanently banned,

She was hiding a smug smile.Night fell, and more and more of Tiffany's fanatical followers gathered outside my building.Suddenly, a brick smashed through the living room window with a loud bang, sending shards of glass across the floor as cold air poured through the opening.Moments later, someone began kicking the front door over and over. Heavy blows shook the door while a stream of vicious insults came from outside."Evan Litchfield, you coward! Get out here and apologize to Tiffany!""Come out and face us, you accomplice

Just then, word came from Frank in the detention center. Hoping to gain sympathy and reduce his sentence, he broke down in tears in front of the cameras during a media interview."I never meant for any of that to happen that night. It was that male passenger!"With bloodshot eyes, Frank frantically clawed at his hair as he desperately shifted all the blame onto me."He put the idea in my head. He's a sick psychopath who wanted to watch me commit a crime. I lost my head for a moment and let him manipulate me!"A few hours later, every last piece of my personal information had been dug up and exposed. My name, phone number, home address, workplace, and even my parents' names had all been posted online. The phone sitting on my desk began vibrating nonstop. Countless calls from unknown numbers came pouring in, making the screen flash with an almost blinding red light.I picked up the phone and answered."You murderer!
