Chapter Seventeen

Tears welled up in Samara's eyes as she entered her bedroom. She had just awakened from a vivid dream, a dream she wished was reality. But now, it seemed she wouldn't have the chance to tell him how she felt, as he was scheduled to leave soon. She collapsed onto the bed, letting her emotions flow freely.

A sudden knock on the door startled her, and she hastily wiped away her tears. She didn't want anyone to see her in such a state. "Come in," she said softly

Colonel Frederick opens the door and walks in. “Are you okay?” He asks with genuine concern in his voice.

If anyone had told Samara that the Colonel could be so patient, caring and understanding, she wouldn’t have believed it. He really baffled her. And she could no longer deny the growing connection between them.

"I'm just sad that you'll be leaving so soon," She admitted.
