Chapter 4

Author: Golden Time
The private room was covered in smoke. I coughed lightly, and the man sitting in the middle laughed.

“Is this the entertainment you brought me?” The man blew smoke out and pointed at me. “He looks quite pretty, but you know I don’t like anyone who’s disobedient.”

Jimmy glanced at me indifferently. “Mr. Smith, don’t worry. He’s known for being obedient.”

After that, he tore my clothes open and exposed my unhealed burn wounds.

Mr. Smith frowned and exchanged glances with Jimmy. Then, he passed me a glass of wine.

The moment I entered the private room, I already had an ominous feeling.

My head was throbbing.

My gut told me that everything here was not right. I also knew that I should escape immediately.

However, when I thought of the burn marks on my father’s hands, I believed that he did not even treat the wounds because he did not want to spend money.

If I could drink enough today and make enough money, it would alleviate my father’s burden a little.

“Are you still going to pay me two thousand dollars a glass?” I asked Jimmy.

Mr. Smith found this interesting. He patted Jimmy on the shoulder as he smiled. His beer belly shook when he laughed.

“Jimmy, I like the one you brought me today. After this, I’ll introduce you to the CEO of Glory Corporation, Mr. Reid.”

After that, he nodded at me. “If you drink ten glasses, I’ll give you thirty thousand dollars.”

I struggled internally as I reached out with trembling hands to hold the glass. Then, I drank the whole glass in one big gulp.

The fiery liquid exploded in my chest, and I immediately teared up from the sensation.

I did not wipe my tears because I started to feel dizzy after drinking one glass.

I thought it was because of my allergy, so I was afraid of losing momentum. I quickly drank the rest of the glasses.

My stomach was burning with pain, but I extended my hand toward Mr. Smith. “I’ve finished all of them! Give me thirty thousand dollars!”

He laughed and passed the cash to me. At this point, I was already very dizzy. I forced myself to walk out of the room. I just wanted to pass the money to my father so that he could work a little less.

Just as I reached the private room’s door, I saw someone that I never thought I would see there.

My father, who was usually dressed modestly, was dressed in luxurious clothing. He looked rich and powerful in his tailor-made suit.

The people around him were fawning over him and pleasing him with rare jewels. Every single one of those jewels would be more than enough to sustain my father and I for the rest of our lives.

However, he looked like he was used to these offerings. He did not even glance at them.

I was stunned, and I dared not step forward. When he held his hand up and I saw the burn marks underneath his long sleeves, I was certain that he was my father.

I grabbed the doorknob, and I was about to open the door when a huge force dragged me back into the dark.

He easily tore my clothes into pieces. When he touched my body, I mustered all my strength to yell, “Dad!”

However, I turned back and saw through the gap in the door.

My father had a smile on his face and had his arm around Jimmy, who had bullied me for three whole years.

He took off his expensive bracelet and put it on Jimmy’s wrist. Then, he gently said, “Jimmy, you’re an excellent and kind young man. Your future will be very bright.”

My screams mingled with my father’s voice. Everyone was looking at Jimmy with admiration.

We were just separated by a wall. Jimmy was being praised, while I was filthy and ruined.

When Mr. Smith was assaulting me, the pain woke me up a little.

I extended my hand toward the door and said in a hoarse voice, “Dad, save me…”

My father, who was standing in the middle of the crowd, suddenly stopped smiling. His face was stern as he glanced in my direction out of reflex.

Then, he met my gaze.

Jimmy covered his mouth and sobbed. “He’s basically crazy. He keeps reading a password-locked diary every single day. He says he’s damned, but then, he claims that I killed his son and wants me to pay for it. He wants to send me to hell so that I’ll never recover!” I was stunned when I heard what Jimmy said. Initially, I thought it was a family enemy who had been torturing him. After all, the Anderson family was huge, so they could have offended some people when they were doing business. Besides, Jimmy was a troublemaker. He had done a lot of bad things, so it would be normal for an enemy to want revenge. However, when I heard that the man was exacting revenge for his son, my heart skipped a beat. My father was torturing Jimmy for what he had done to me, and he left Jimmy in a terrible state. Time would heal all. My new life was filled with hope. All the past hatred and anger had left me along with my love for my father. I thought I could face this calmly. However, when

However, I had lied. The password was not my birthday. However, that did not matter. They had to take my word for it. As expected, upon hearing my response, my father did not ask anything further. He took the diary with trembling hands. I did not read the diary or look at my father’s face. After all, I was already familiar with the content. It was details of Jimmy’s bullying. I had written them down at midnight when I could not sleep from my wounds hurting. Showing him the diary was intentional. I did not care if it was a cruel and heartless move. I wondered if he would regret it when he saw that Jimmy, whom he praised to have a bright future, was such a cold-blooded and vicious person in private. That day, I left with Captain George. He scolded me because of my actions. He kicked me out of the case and asked me to calm down. After I became Sam, I lived a good life. I wanted to compensate Sam for giving me his life. Maybe it was escapism, but I focused on studying

I reached out and pulled the torn rag further down to expose all the horrible wounds to my father. I carefully touched the scars. “Do you recognize this? It’s a scar from being burned. It recovers very slowly, and it’ll leave you in pain for a really long time as it gets infected. Whenever it’s hot and humid, it’ll get extremely itchy. You’ll wish you could bury yourself in the snow or rub it against the floor.”I looked at the scars that were healing on the back of my father’s hands, and I simply said, “But it’s not impossible to treat it. There’s a special imported medicine. After applying it for two weeks, the wounds will magically recover.”Hearing this, my father’s hands suddenly started trembling uncontrollably. He grabbed his right wrist to stop the tremor. I continued, “But this medicine is extremely expensive for a small volume. It costs two thousand dollars for a single tube. For a normal scar just like yours, you’ll need at least three tubes to recover.” Two thousa

Captain George grabbed my arm and dragged me out. When we reached the door, I struggled free from him and rushed inside. Then, I pushed my father onto the floor. “Sam, what are you doing?” Captain George quickly dragged me out, as he was afraid that I would do something overboard. However, I did not care. My eyes were filled with tears as I glared at my father’s frozen expression. “Why are you so cruel? When he was alive, you allowed him to be tortured. Now that he’s dead, you’re still protecting the killer. He’s your son! He was willing to give you everything, and he was the closest person to you! How could you be so cruel?!” I roared and let my anger loose. Captain George grabbed me and dragged me out. “Sam, what’s wrong with you? Get out!” I did not know how I gathered the strength, but I broke free from Captain George’s grip and ran over to tear the clothes off my dead body. The clothes, which were already ragged and torn from the torture, easily pulled apart. The sca

Maybe heaven had taken pity on me for having such a hard life. Even though I was dead, I had been given another chance to survive. I became a policeman who had just joined the police force. I was holding a notebook while recording the details of a murder case. I was still in shock from dying and living again when I heard the captain verifying the identity of the corpse. Then, he called my father. “Hello, are you Ben’s father? I’m sorry to inform you that Ben has sadly been murdered. Please come over to assist in our investigation…” My father sounded very calm, “Are scams nowadays this ridiculous? How dare you pretend to be a cop? I bet you don’t know who I am. Otherwise, you wouldn’t dare to come up with such silly tactics.” After that, my father immediately ended the call. The beeping sound from the phone indicated that the call was over. All the police officers who were working on the case were shocked by the reaction. They tried calling a few more times, but my fat

“Mr. Reid, what’s wrong?” Jimmy asked as he looked at my father, who was lost in thought when he stared at the private room. My father stared intently at the room. It was dark inside, so he could not see anything, but he felt strangely uneasy. His heart was beating violently. He rubbed his temple and smiled at Jimmy gently. “Maybe I didn’t get enough sleep yesterday. I thought I heard my son calling me.” Jimmy was stunned. He subconsciously glanced at the private room before he immediately looked away. “Mr. Reid, your son is of high social status, and I bet he’s an excellent young man. How would he be in such a normal private room?” After my father heard Jimmy’s words, he thought the same. “That’s right. My son’s good and obedient. He wouldn’t be here.” My heart sank when I heard that. I had too many questions in my head. Why would my father be here today? Why was he so close to Jimmy, who was utterly disgusting? Why was everyone who dressed wealthily here pleasing
