"Ah! You beast!"

Winnie White’s face crumpled in agony, cold sweat instantly covering her forehead.

She instinctively raised her hand. Just then, the sound of a white cane tapping against the floor came from the hallway.

It was my owner, Tim Cooper.

Winnie’s raised hand froze in midair.

The murderous intent in her eyes had not yet faded, but the moment Tim felt his way into the living room, it transformed into her usual tenderness.

"Tim, slow down. Be careful not to trip."

She spoke with a hint of grievance. "Lucky may have entered an aggressive phase. He suddenly bit me just now. But it’s fine. It doesn’t hurt."

I released her and let out an angry growl.

[Liar! You murderer!]

Tim’s sightless eyes filled with panic when he heard Winnie’s words.

He nervously felt his way to Winnie’s pant leg and touched the patch of wet blood.

"Winnie, you’re bleeding! Lucky has never bitten anyone before. What happened today…?"

His voice was filled with alarm.

Winnie took advantage of the moment and clasped his hand, gently rubbing the back of it with her thumb.

"Tim, I’m really fine. This proves that Lucky needs this AI pet translator collar even more. He has emotions, but we don’t understand them. With this collar, we’ll finally be able to understand him, and he won’t be so agitated anymore."

As I watched her flawless performance, I finally understood why Tim had fallen so completely in love with her in my previous life.

Winnie had originally been a struggling college student whose education was funded by Tim’s parents.

Tim’s parents died in a car accident, and Tim’s optic nerves were injured in the same accident, leaving him completely blind.

Tim had fallen from the heights of his life into endless darkness. He suffered a breakdown and even tried to take his own life.

Winnie appeared like a ray of light during his darkest days.

She dropped to her knees at Tim’s parents’ graves and vowed to care for him for the rest of her life on their behalf.

For three years, she showed him meticulous care and kept him company without fail every day. Through it all, she had deceived him into giving her his complete trust.

"All right. We’ll put it on him, just as you suggested."

Tim felt sorry for Winnie. He turned around and felt his way toward me, following the sound of my panting.

I desperately retreated, whimpering in protest.

However, I was a guide dog. My instincts and training made it impossible for me to attack my owner.

Tim felt his way to my neck and fastened the metal collar around it.

The indicator light on the collar blinked once. A mechanical voice immediately sounded:

"I was too scared just now. I didn’t mean to bite anyone. I’m sorry."

Tim’s shoulders relaxed.

He rubbed my head, and the concern on his face softened into tenderness.

"See, Winnie? Lucky didn’t mean to do it. He was just scared."

He then turned to Winnie with a deeply guilty expression.

"Winnie, I’m sorry I put you through that."

I stared at Tim’s completely trusting face, my tail spinning rapidly like a propeller.

[No! I wasn’t scared! I wanted to bite her to death!]

I barked frantically at Winnie.

However, the collar played the words Winnie had prerecorded:

"Mommy, I’m sorry. I’ll listen to you from now on."

Tim smiled with even greater relief.

Winnie stood behind him and looked down at me.

A vicious smile tugged at the corner of her lips as she silently mouthed:

"You filthy mutt, you’re no match for me."

I desperately clawed at the collar around my neck and whimpered.

I couldn’t speak. How could I save my owner?
