Alpha Herveaux POV
The leader of the Lycan Prowler Pack.
I stood on the terrace in my mansion, thinking about everything that had happened so far.
I saw someone very familiar that night; she looked so much like Ashina.
My wolf was also consoled, he wasn’t as furious as he used to be when I met with other women.
“You should heal faster, Tristan.”
Tristan is my wolf. He loved Ashina more than I did. I noticed it only after she was mated to me.
The day before Ashina was murdered he was restless. If only I gave into his feelings, I could have saved her.
Tristan gave out a loud growling cry.
“I’m here, Alpha. You called for me”
“Sit Fernando!” Fernando is my beta and right-hand man. He had been with my father before he died. He entrusted me to his care. Though Fernando was older than me, he served me as a beta, should serve his alpha.
“Do you think the last attack was truly by the earth-dwellers and not the Lone wolves?” I asked Fernando.
There have been frequent attacks on our neighboring territories, if I don’t get to the end of it. The small threats might escalate into something big; my greatest fear might come to existence.
“No Alpha Herveaux. It was a mere coincidence" "The humans were after a woman. They got into the ongoing fight between the warriors from our pack and the Lone Wolves.”
I do not buy into coincidences, I have a great feeling it was all planned. I could have headed out to war myself, but I would be considered a weak alpha, "One whose warriors can't conquer mere lone wolves...."
This weight could be light, if only they understood my ways of doing things. “The meeting is in a few hours, do you think I should attend?”
“Yes, Alpha, it shows you are not scared or afraid of the council leader and other Alpha's, that would be present.”
“Why do I always need to prove myself? Because my father made me the Alpha, without having to fight anyone for it?”
I spent most of my reign as the leader of the Lycans prowler pack, proving my worth, fighting and sacrificing my desires.
“I’m sorry, Alpha". "You have no choice. You just have to be there, we should be on our way.”
Fernando was principled, but he was too rigid, even though everyone thinks I am just like him. That's a lie, I am different. I am a dynamic man, I don’t believe in just one way of doing things.
************************
“What is the outcome of the meeting, Alpha?” Fernando asked. He was waiting for me at the back of the building.
"They always find a way to get on my nerves. I made my point clear to them though" "I’m coming, I have to meet someone" I replied Fernando, my Beta.
“You should stop seeing her Alpha, they might misinterpret, If they see you with her”, Fernando tried stopping me.
I needed to see Rudina. Only her, can help me find out the truth about Ashina’s death.
Rudina was also waiting for me, “How did your findings go?. Did you get anything vital?” I asked her.
Rudina’s face said it all. She wore a melancholic expression.
“No Alpha Herveaux. I summoned her wolf but it was raging" "I’m confused, her soul was peaceful but her wolf was vengeful”.
I could feel my wolf shake vigorously within me, “Stay calm Tristan, not here”. I cautioned him.
I felt the same way, it was a slap on my face. If I couldn’t protect my own mate, no one would respect me.
“There will be a prophecy soon. I hope it will be about Ashina. She was a good one when she was with us."
"Even after she left, when she was mated with you, she never turned her back on her home”.
Rudina said it all. Ashina was an angel, the perfect Luna for an Alpha like me. “I failed her!”.
“One more thing, did the earth dweller have anything to do with her death?” I asked Rudina. That was paramount to me.
She was severely wounded before she came back to our world. She finally died right under my nose, but it was ruled as a suicide. "Ashina would never commit suicide".
“Ashina was strong, Alpha Herveaux. There is no way an ordinary human would hurt her that much. The poison had it's effect but she had bruises and cuts all over her body.”
Rudina had tried all means she could for me. Ashina was her niece. I believed, she could feel the pain I felt.
“Whoever planned this, has a greater plan. I urge you to beware Alpha Herveaux!” Rudina bade me farewell and left.
“Greater plan? What else could the person want?”
I was deep in thoughts all through my journey back home. The thought of seeing my children again, brought me relief.
Although, Ashina had left, she left me with treasures, I could only love and remember her for.
The meetings always took place at midnight, it was almost morning. My children would be ready to head to school, ever since their mother died, and I moved out of the mansion. I took on the role of a mother. I wanted my children to feel loved and secure.
“Father, you are back!” Dante, my son, and the eldest, rushed to greet me. He is just ten years old. His mother’s death hit him hard, but he’s just like me, pretending to be fine.
“Yes son, how is your sister?” Tala is my daughter. She’s the youngest. Tala used to be very strong and fast willed, at times, I feared she would be the one to take over my place. At that young age, she competed with her brother for everything, facing off anyone that crossed her.
Ever since her mother’s death she withdrew from everyone. I have changed a thousand maids and nannies just to please her.
“She has locked herself up in her room, she doesn’t want to go to school” Dante said. He is very truthful and straight forward, just like his mother. He was Ashina’s favorite. I knew he would have tried calling her out but she refused.
“Tala, It's daddy open up”. I beckoned to her. It took her a while but she finally opened the door.
“Why aren’t you dressed up, you will be late for school?” Tala was so unkempt and dirty, blaming the maids would be needless. I knew what she was capable of.
“You’re so dirty. I tickled her on her ribs and stomach. She had my beautiful yellow eyes but her mother’s black hair with streaks of silver lining. She gave out a smile. "I would kill to get to see that smile forever"
“Here is what I would do. I will follow you to school and wait until you return. Is that okay with you?” with her hands hugging my big body, unable to fold around me, she nodded her head.
“Call the head maid for me”, I ordered whoever was listening. “She left, since yesterday night but hasn’t returned since then” said one of the maids.
"That’s unusual". Veruska is one of the oldest maids here, she worked for my parents and now me, and she is also one of my trusted servants.
That’s a big problem. Apart from her, Tala wouldn’t let anyone else take care of her. I have to go back there.
I had to appease her, so she could allow another maid to take care of her. It was a tug of war, with begging and pleas.
“Don’t you think you’re spoiling Tala, she might turn out irresponsible” only Fernando would dare question how I trained my children.
“I understand Fernando, Tala would change. She just needs time to heal from her mother’s death. Let’s head to their school”.
Fernando looked at me. “Why? I can take them there myself. If you feel the need, you don’t have to do that all by yourself Alpha. Leaving the mansion, after Ashina's death, is enough topic for the people”.
I understood Fernando’s fears. He was worried about what people would think. But I cared less.
“I want to go myself, take care of things till I return!” Fernando insisted on following me. “I will drive you there, Alpha, let me accompany you?” he requested.
"I wanted a personal family time with my children. It’s the least I could do. Ashina did everything while I was focused on being the perfect Alpha for my pack."
We arrived at their school. Tala was reluctant to go in, I had to carry her playfully inside. “I want to see their teacher, I asked the school’s principal.”
“She called in sick today, we have a sub to take her role for her. I would call her, if you want to speak to her, Alpha Herveaux.”
The school’s principal wasn’t a Lycan, she was a hybrid. The elders of our clan were against me taking my children to this school, just because the principal is a hybrid. The hybrids and Lycans rarely mix.
Ashina chose this school. I don’t know why she chose this school, but it stands!
“I would like to speak to her, it’s about Tala!” I said to the woman.
“Give me a minute sir” she asked, and she hurried out to get her.
While I was waiting for the principals' return, Fernando rang me on the phone, “Hello Beta speak!”
“I found the head maid. She was murdered!"
SAMANTHA’S POV. ONE YEAR LATER. His broad hand drew me into his arms with a tight hug that i felt in my soul. "Happy birthday, my beloved Luna," his coarse, seductive voice whispered in my ears."Hmmm," I heaved, still pretending to be asleep. He placed a small box beside me. "I want to go to the bath; will you join me? I know you’re awake," he uttered. He took off his clothes, and I fell in love with him all over again. It was my birthday again, a day I have regretted and wished never came just because of that unforgettable night. Alpha Herveaux changed that. It became a day I now look forward to."So what’s my first gift?" I asked him jokingly. "Me!" he coerced seductively. "What else can I ask for? Can I have you now?" I can’t wait to see his expression when he finds out I am pregnant with his child. "That night a few months ago, I thought you left; I would have been miserable without you. Thank you, Samantha," he uttered as he made out with me.He carried me down to
ALPHA HERVEAUX’S POV.I rolled to the other side of the bed, expecting a push or a sound, but none was forthcoming; Auriel had left. It sent me a bewildering, intense feeling of sadness that swept all my happiness away."Don’t be sad; she probably went for the kill; only she can defeat Falcon," I consoled Tristan. If it turns out otherwise, then I’ll just go with the flow. I am back to full strength. Before Sunrise reveals its glory, I will go and defend the city. It won’t go down with me alive. She left the clothes she had picked out for me to wear at the extreme edge of the bed. She still cares, but maybe as a friend and not as my Luna. The clothes seemed like camouflage. There was no way I could hide without getting spotted or noticed; it was pointless hiding or wearing camouflage. I got dressed and was ready for the kill. I stepped out, and a smile returned to my face when I saw the moon. I growled. It meant she was still around. "I hope she sees me before leaving," I wished o
SAMANTHA’S POV. My heart fluttered watching him sleep soundly like a baby. His heart was beating slowly, and his face had a mild smile. "I am his peace," I muttered, blushing uncontrollably. "I’m sorry, my love, I’ll have to leave before you wake up. Just let’s stay alive all through. I really can’t decide now." I whispered and kissed him goodbye.I didn’t care if I would make it or not, but my love for him and his children was driving me to my peak."Avayah, Valerie, we are going to find Falcon and kill him. Easy, right?" I asked them jokingly. I tiptoed out of Ashina’s house so Herveaux would continue his sound sleep. The only place on my mind where I felt I could find Falcon was at Derrick’s mansion, the same place where Alpha Herveaux was held hostage. The mansion was miles away from the house. I wondered what made Ashina come this far and live there alone; not even Herveaux knew of the place. "Thank you, Avayah; you led me there, right?" I shifted like a pro as I ra
ALPHA HERVEAUX’S POV.The wavering sounds of the waters at the sea stirred my eyes to open and my soul to awaken. Still in pain, I struggled to get up on my feet. "Hey, just lie down there; you’re still hurt."The voice I had always wanted to hear spoke to me. I beamed with a smile and fell back onto the bed. She hurried up to meet me."Herveaux, are you with me?" She asked worriedly, holding my hands. She placed my hand on her face. It still felt like a dream. I never knew she’d return to me. Especially now that I needed her the most."Samantha?" I murmured tiredly. "Yes, it’s me; I am here," she responded. My hands found her blonde hair, and I flicked them away from her face. "You’re beautiful," I said to her, smirking."I know there is no time to waste; tell me what to do; how can I heal you?" she asked instantaneously. She dragged me up the wall so I could rest my back. "Where is this place?" I asked anxiously. I had never been there, and it was pleasant. "It Belonged to
SAMANTHA’S POV. Gwendolyn helped me pack my bags. She was skeptical about it at first, then I was the one eager to leave."Will you tell your father about it first? Have you made any plans?" She asked me carefully. "None for now. I have been trying to call Alpha Draglun, but he isn’t responding. Do you think he’s also caught in this?" I asked her concernedly. "Keep calling, he might answer before you get there. Your father is not home right now. I will just tell him when he returns," Gwendolyn responded impatiently. I sat down on the bed tiredly. "Why are you acting like this?""Don’t tell me you’re backing out or having second thoughts, okay let’s do this, if the thing get out of your control, just say goodbye and come back to us, how about that?" Gwendolyn asked. Gwendolyn was done packing my bags. She collected the cellphone from me and put it inside. "So how do you get there? You’re not going by car, right?" she asked confusedly, and it made me blush. "Partly by ca
ALPHA HERVEAUX’S POV. The dangers of the night were out; the whole place was dark and sneaky. Not a single soul was around. The whole place was dark, and the absence of the moon didn’t go unnoticed. For once, I doubted the information Brenda gave me. It came so easily; just a few minutes after she left me, she returned overhead and came to me. "I don’t mind; I have no other choice," I said loudly to myself to stop the non-stop pondering in my mind. I checked the whole area. The woods, underneath, and even the sea that was nearby, but there is no sign of anyone there. "I will wait a while and leave if no one shows up," I coerced. I checked the paper she gave me again. "It’s here; I definitely am in the right place. Where are you hiding my children, Falcon?" I whispered, still searching. "Right here!" he responded with a wild roar. He threw Miranda’s body down from the tree. "Damn you, Falcon, I knew it!" I groaned painfully. She was still alive but writhing in pain."Don’t wor
SAMANTHA’S POV. He was dressed in the prisoner’s uniform. It suits him really well. "I still can’t believe I once liked men that looked like him," I whispered into Gwendolyn’s ear."You’ve said that before, okay? Thanks to Herveaux, you got to know there were better men than he was," she snapped.Lorenzo was called up, and he was sitting right in front of me. He was sad and teary. "I will have my revenge, Lorenzo; I really can’t wait to crush you and end your life; no one will save you from me," I said to him."I will take whatever punishment you give me; please spare my wife and our innocent baby," he pleaded with me. He fell on his feet and held onto my legs.I kicked him off angrily. "The police, you can’t assault him," Gwendolyn pulled me back."Dummy, I tipped them off; I am Samantha Eduardo!" I replied, laughing loudly, and continued kicking him. "I will kick them out of that house and throw them into the streets. You did the same to my innocent father, so why can’t I do th
ALPHA HERVEAUX’S POV.Fernando fought against me with all his might, and I realized he wouldn’t stop until he was dead. I stopped fighting him. "I did you no wrong! I need to go save my children. I will kill you this time if you attack me again," I said to him."No, you will have to go through me!" he growled wildly. "You’re not in control Fernando, you can still get yourself back; I don’t want to kill you," I pleaded, ready to give up everything. It hurt so much to see the man who raised you like a father ready to kill you. I know he wasn’t as powerful as I was, but living with the guilt of killing him would be hard on me. "I forgive you for everything you’ve done against me, even though you think I was the one who offended you!" I yelled. "You were ready to choose another Beta and shamefully disperse me; you never trusted me; you handed over the throne to your brother; you could have promoted me to Alpha!" he grunted. It sounded so odd. I never knew he wanted to become Alp
SAMANTHA’S POV. I snuggled my body meekily under the tender, silky cover on my bed. My back ached so bad, but it’d turn into a soothing pain as I starched on the bed.My normal routine before sleeping started, whereby I had to think about every disgusting thing I did that day and even years ago, blame myself, praise myself a little, and have a mixture of regrets."Did I do the right thing with Alpha Draglun?"I shunned him. I could have just said NO politely, but I said it in a rage. I just hope he understands that I don't want that life anymore. Alpha Herveaux is the strongest man I know, and I believe he can fight off whoever threatens his pack. Moreover, He places it on a high pedestal, so he’ll never watch it fall."I just hope my thoughts are right," I said, thinking out loud. Like usual, I fell asleep without knowing it; all I knew was that I felt peaceful with a great ache in my heart that I refused to acknowledge.I felt a soft, hairy hand on my face. "Alpha Herveaux,"
