Chapter 5

Autor: Aurelia
Explain?

In ten more minutes, we would be people from two different worlds. What was there left for me to explain to a man like you?

"And the third question?" I leaned back into the chair and prompted Winnie lazily.

Winnie's eyes moved around as she said, "Third question!"

She pulled a dull gray conch shell from Hank's pocket, its surface carved with strange patterns. "Lilibeth, this piece of trash is what you gave Hank for his birthday last month! You lied and told him it was some family heirloom, but really you picked it out of a trash heap by the shore, didn't you? You're just a gold digger, trying to mooch off Hank!"

The moment the conch shell came out, Kaplan's amused expression suddenly wavered. He frowned, as if trying to remember something while keeping his stare on the conch.

Meanwhile, the livestream comments were already tearing me apart.

[This is hilarious. She gave him a conch shell for his birthday? What was she thinking?]

[Even if she's poor, she could at least buy a piece of cake that's worth a few dollars, right? Instead she gives him trash!]

[I feel so bad for Hank, letting a gold digger near him like this.]

Hank looked completely humiliated as he snatched the conch shell from Winnie's hand and threw it on the deck. "Lilibeth! you have embarrassed me enough! I bought you expensive skincare and you give me this piece of junk in return? This isn't over!"

I watched the conch shell roll across the deck, my eyes cold. That was no ordinary conch shell. It was a Poseidon Emblem I had carved out with my own hand.

As long as someone carried that conch shell anywhere on the open seas, even if they crossed paths with the most vicious pirates, one blow from it would be enough. Every pirate would steer clear of them. Some would even provide armed escort.

If that thing ever went up for auction on the black market, the opening bid would start at fifty million dollars! I gave it to Hank so he could run his future shipping business in peace, yet he threw it on the deck like garbage.

"Hank." My voice was calm. "Since you didn't want that conch shell, then I'll never give you another one even if you get on your knees and beg me someday."

Hank heard my words like it was the funniest joke he had ever heard. "Beg you? Me? Begging a toilet cleaner? Are you insane?"

Kaplan looked away from the conch shell and waved his hand. "Enough. It's just a useless seashell, so stop wasting my time. This truth or dare is getting so dull. Since this cleaner has such a thick hide, we're going back to the previous game."

He pointed at the shark tank, where the water was churning. "Get in! Get down there and swim two laps for me! If you survive, I'll throw in another hundred grand!"

The security closed in at once, their expression vicious. I simply let them shove me toward the shark tank, but Winnie suddenly spoke up after she schemed for a moment. "Wait! Captain Levin, there's something you need to know. This woman has very nimble fingers. If she pulls some trick in the tank and hurts your precious sharks, that would be bad!"

Winnie paused, her voice full of malice as she finally said, "How about tying her hands and feet before you throw her in?"

The whole deck went silent again. Even the wealthy guests who had seen plenty in their lives were taken aback. If someone were thrown into a tank full of starving sharks with their hands and feet tied up, they could not even make it to the surface for air, much less avoid being torn apart by the sharks. There would not be much of a corpse left to find after that.

Hank frowned and a flicker of hesitation crossed his face. But when he saw Winnie's pleading look, he turned his head away without a word after a glint could be seen in his eyes.

Kaplan waved impatiently. "Do it. Move fast. Don't spoil everyone's fun."

A vicious glint appeared in Winnie's eyes. Shielded by the bodyguards and hidden from the livestream camera, she leaned close to my ear and whispered, "Lilibeth, you can drown in that tank now. A cheap woman like you is never worthy of Hank."

One of the bodyguards pulled out a rope. He was just about to tie me up when a deep voice belonging to a man came from the couch's direction. "Wait."

  • I'm the Pirate Queen   Chapter 12

I went to the Leviathan to inspect the renovations. The luxury liner had already been retrofitted into a mobile sea fortress, with all the illegal gambling and violent entertainment removed. As I passed the lower hold, a revolting stench hit me. A man in a filthy work uniform and a gas mask was bending over, struggling to clear a clogged pipe. The supervisor walked over and gave her his report. "Ms. Bell, this is the new sanitary worker. He works hard, but he's a little dim."The man turned his head when he heard the voice. Through the mask, I could still see Hank's red eyes.He froze. The shovel slipped from his hand and fell on the floor. He looked at my tailored suit and the dozens of muscular men behind me. Then he looked down at the filth covering his own body. He couldn't help but choke back a sob.I stopped and looked at him. "Hank, are you satisfied with this job? If it's too hard, you can resign. But the penalty for breaking your contract is ten million dollars."Hank

Ignoring the pain from his broken hand, Hank crawled toward me even as he slammed his forehead against the deck again and again as he slipped until he was a bloody mess. "Lily! I know my mistakes now! I really understand my mistakes now! That witch Winnie blinded me! You're the only one I ever loved! Can you please forgive me? Please don't break up with me! I'll be your pet dog from now on. I'll do whatever you tell me!"He reached out with his good hand, trying to grab my leg.Grant glared at him and kicked Hank straight at his chest, sending him rolling across the deck. "You think you can touch the captain with those filthy hands? You have a death wish or something?"I looked at Hank coldly as he twitched on the deck. "I gave you a chance, Hank. You were the one who threw it away. From the moment you chose to put me into that shark tank, you were already dead to me."The mood in the livestream changed at once.[Hank's a complete idiot! He threw away the Pirate Queen for an idiot

A genuine smile finally appeared on my face as I looked at my crew. "Get up. This past year must have been miserable for you, huh?"The leader of them, Grant, scratched the back of his head before giving me a sheepish grin. "It must have been tough for you, Captain! This sorry excuse of a ship isn't worthy enough for you to clean their toilets! But all of us have followed your rules exactly. We've been legally hauling and moving cargo for the past year. We didn't even rob a single seagull!"He pulled a thick stack of wrinkled certificates from his jacket. "Look, Captain. We have a captain's license, a first mate's license, we got all of them! We're a legitimate shipping company now!"I nodded, satisfied. "Well done. Regardless, I've won the bet. From now on, we're going to make money the legal way."Hank was still sprawling on the deck, staring at me like he was looking at someone beyond his understanding. His mind had already stopped working. "Lily... You... You're really a pirate

"Lilibeth... What... What have you been hiding from me?" Hank said as I looked down at him like the trash he was."Hiding from you? I never hid anything from you. You were the one who was blind," I said.Just then, deafening roars came from over the ship in the air. Three heavily armed helicopters hovered above the ship and their rotor blades kicked up a violent gale.At the same time, more than a dozen black speedboats fitted with heavy machine guns appeared across the surrounding sea.All of them completely surrounded the luxury liner in an instant!Rows of black gun barrels swung toward the deck in unison and the crowd broke into panicked screams.Hank's legs gave out again as Winnie's eyes rolled back and almost fainted on the spot. The viewers in the livestream lost their composure too as the screen was filled up by exclamation marks. The helicopters' jump doors opened and tag lines dropped one after another as sixteen muscular men landed steadily on the deck. They were th

"You... You're..." Kaplan stammered so badly he could not finish his sentence.I sighed, stepped forward, and patted him lightly on the shoulder. Kaplan was one of the men I had saved, so he had always had deep feelings for me.Twelve years ago, when he was still just a minor pirate captain, he was kidnapped by a group of ruthless mercenaries. They demanded one hundred million dollars in ransom and planned to kill him after they got the money.I took three of our brothers and slipped aboard under cover of night. I fought from the front of the ship to the back with a combat knife, and tossed him onto a lifeboat like a lost child.During the year I was gone, Kaplan was the one who had searched everywhere for any news regarding my whereabouts."Captain, where have you been? Everyone has been looking for you all over the place..." Kaplan said as he sobbed. Everyone stared and was shocked to see his legs give out as he fell on his knees in front of me!Stanley's pistol slipped from hi

Stanley suddenly opened his mouth as he stared at my back, his brows furrowed tightly as I was marched to the shark tank. "Kaplan, something's off about this woman's reaction."I never begged or screamed for mercy from the very beginning. Even my breathing stayed steady. No ordinary cleaner could possess that kind of mental fortitude."What's off? She's just scared stiff!" Kaplan said as he waved him off. "Stanley, you're too suspicious. I've seen plenty of people put on an act like this."They dragged me to the edge of the shark tank with lead weights pulled at my ankles, and the sea breeze hit my face with the scent of blood."Lilibeth, go to hell!" Winnie suddenly rushed over. The moment the bodyguards let go, she shoved me hard.I dropped straight into the freezing seawater as I lost control of my body, and three huge tiger sharks closed in on me. But I did not hold my breath. I simply let the oxygen in my lungs run out slowly.I was waiting for the last second. The ropes we
