Chapter 3

Author: Nameless
When I pushed open the door to the dean of students' office, Ms. Winslow was frowning at a notice in her hand.

"Ms. Winslow," I began, pointing to the blood still drying on my forehead.

"Matthew Gould from Senior Class 1 pushed me down the stairs from the second floor this morning. That's attempted murder. I've already called the police, and they'll be here in ten minutes."

Ms. Winslow's head jerked up, her heavy black-framed glasses nearly slipping down her nose. "Aaron, you can't just throw around accusations like that! You're talking about a serious crime!"

"Whether it's true or not, we'll find out when the police get here," I replied, looking her straight in the eye.

"You've always been fair and principled. If something this serious happens at our school and the victim's family sweeps it under the rug, what does that do to the school's reputation? I just need your help with one thing."

Ms. Winslow stared at me in silence for a long moment before finally gritting her teeth and asking, "What do you want to do?"

Ten minutes later, Sierra Chase, an officer from the local precinct, strode into the academic building with two other officers behind her. Dressed in full uniform, she swept her hawk-like gaze down the hallway before it landed on the wound on my forehead.

She frowned and asked, "You made the call? Who's suspected of attempted murder?"

"I did," I replied, then turned to Ms. Winslow.

"Ms. Winslow, if you'd lead the way."

Under Ms. Winslow's conflicted gaze and Sierra's watchful eye, we walked down the hall and pushed open the door to the school's broadcast studio.

I stepped up to the console, expertly switched on the equipment, and cranked the microphone volume all the way up.

"Aaron, are you sure about this? There's no turning back once you do it." Ms. Winslow put her hand on the console, checking one last time.

"I just want him to know exactly what brought him down."

I brushed her hand aside, hovered my finger over the schoolwide broadcast button for a beat, then pressed it down hard.

A sharp burst of static blared through every speaker across campus.

I leaned toward the microphone, my voice calm and clear, drowning out the noise of the whole school.

"Fake heir Matthew Gould of Senior Class 1, you're suspected of attempted murder for pushing me, the real heir, down the stairs from the second floor. I've already called the police, and they're now on campus. Report to the broadcast studio immediately to assist with the investigation.

"I repeat…"

My voice echoed over the PA system, plunging the entire school into dead silence.

Just five minutes ago, Matthew had been brazenly smearing me as a servant's son.

But now, three explosive phrases—"fake heir", "real heir", and "attempted murder"—sent shockwaves through the campus.

According to the students who later rushed over to watch the drama unfold, the moment the broadcast came over the speakers, Matthew's aggrieved expression twisted.

The classmates gathered around comforting him all jumped back several feet, as if they'd been electrocuted.

"The fake heir? Matthew is the servant's son?"

"Didn't he just say Aaron was? Talk about projecting!"

"The real bombshell is the attempted murder! No wonder Aaron had a bandage on his head today. My God, that's sick…"

Disbelieving stares and scathing whispers tore through Matthew's fragile ego.

The image of the perfect young gentleman he'd spent 18 years building fell apart in an instant.

Driven into a frenzy, he shoved his desk aside and scrambled out of the classroom, desperate to reach the broadcast studio and stop me.

But just as he reached the stairwell, he ran straight into the two officers who were on their way to get him.

I pulled a mini voice recorder from my pocket and turned it over in my hand."By tomorrow morning, the scandal surrounding the Gould family's real and fake sons will be the lead story on every news site in the country. Care to guess how many days in a row Gould Group's stock will hit the daily limit down?"Signing the agreement went off without a hitch.Between preserving Gould Group's reputation and losing part of her wealth, Roslyn chose the former without hesitation. As that astronomical settlement hit my private bank account, Matthew was dragged out of the Gould residence by several bodyguards, left with nothing but a one-way ticket to the slums. His biological father, Gavin, had already been taken in by the police for questioning. What awaited Matthew was his penniless biological family, steeped in drinking and gambling. There would be no luxury watches, expensive cars, or servants waiting on him—only debts that could never be paid off and an endless barrage of abuse.Rosly

I copied the encrypted file onto a tablet, along with a confession video the private investigator had found, in which Gavin admitted to switching the babies. Then I headed downstairs.Down in the living room, Matthew was still throwing a tantrum in his wheelchair."So what if everyone online is trash-talking me? I'm still the son you raised for 18 years! What right do you have to freeze my cards? Kick Aaron out! I don't want to see him!"Benson rubbed his temples in frustration. Roslyn's face was livid with rage, and whatever patience she'd once had for her obedient adopted son was gone.I walked over and slammed the tablet down on the coffee table. On the screen, Gavin sat in a cramped rented room, gloating about how he'd switched the babies 18 years ago."Take a good look before you continue screaming," I said, casting Matthew a cold glance.Roslyn frowned and picked up the tablet. Less than 30 seconds in, the look on her face changed. She shot to her feet, her hands shaking v

"You bastard! You've completely humiliated the Gould family!" Roslyn snapped, clutching her chest as her whole body trembled with rage. "Everyone in our circle is laughing at me now! Mr. Lynch even stopped the Westbrook project!"Benson scrambled up from the floor and instinctively reached out to shield Matthew, but when he saw his hideously twisted face, his hands froze midair."Mom, Dad… you hit me? You actually hit me for that bastard Aaron!" Matthew completely lost it, grabbing an antique vase off the coffee table and hurling it straight at the TV."I'm the son you raised for 18 years! Who the hell is he?!" he shouted. The sharp sound of shattering glass cut through the room.Roslyn and Benson stared at the wreckage and at Matthew raging like a street thug. The final piece of evidence was actual footage from the dean of students' office that day, showing Matthew lunging at me before Sierra pinned him to the desk.I clicked send and pinned the post to the top.I leaned back in my chair, staring silently at the screen.Within three minutes, the quiet class group chat exploded."Holy shit! What a twist! So who's the real snake here?""My eyes must be playing tricks on me. Is that really the polite, gentle Matthew we know? Forcing someone to kneel and admitting he pushed Aaron? That's attempted murder!""Yesterday, he was playing the victim in the chat, claiming Aaron pushed him down the stairs. Turns out he was accusing Aaron of the exact thing he did himself. Aaron was just defending himself!""Hearing him say 'Mom and Dad still side with me' in that recording makes my blood boil. What kind of rich family is this? They're a house of monsters!"Messages flooded in at a dizzying speed. The cronies who had led the charge in insulting

As soon as Matthew was wheeled into the living room, he grabbed a porcelain cup off the coffee table and smashed it right at my feet.Porcelain shards scattered across the floor, a few grazing my shins."Aaron Gould! Look at what you did to me! I'll never let you get away with this!" Matthew shrieked, his face contorted with rage. Not a trace of his usual refined, gentlemanly demeanor remained.Benson held Matthew's shoulders in distress, then turned to glare at me."Why are you just standing there? Look at what you did to Matthew! Get over here, get on your knees, and apologize right now!"Roslyn, exhausted and annoyed, pointed a finger right in my face and roared, "Look at what you've done! You've thrown this house into chaos! If I'd known you were this malicious, I never would have brought you back!"With Roslyn and Benson completely taking his side, Matthew only grew bolder. "Mom, Dad! As long as he's in this house, I won't be able to sleep a wink! I want him out of the mas

Matthew's arms and legs were soon covered in swollen red scrapes. Clutching his lower back, he couldn't even manage a full sentence through the pain. "It hurts… My back…"Roslyn and Benson snapped back to reality and scrambled down the stairs."Matthew! My sweet boy, don't scare me like this!"Benson rushed over, desperate to hold him but terrified to touch him, tears streaming down his face.Roslyn's eyes were bloodshot as she whipped around to glare daggers at me. "Aaron Gould, you bastard! He's your brother! How could you do this to him? Are you trying to kill him?"As she hurled those deafening accusations at me, I stood at the top of the stairs and coldly watched the touching family scene unfold below.I walked down the steps with deliberate slowness, pointing to the blood still seeping through the bandage on my forehead."Kill him? Mom, when he pushed me down these exact stairs this morning, why didn't you ask him if he was trying to kill me?"I stopped three feet away fr
