Jasmine's POV
"I didn't know you knew Bradley Pittsburg," a voice quipped from behind me and startled me, briefly, before I turned around in my chair and saw Mr. Hollen leaning on the closed door, hands inside his pants pockets, looking at me with raised eyebrows.
"Umm, yeah... I've known him since college," I answered.
His grey eyes locked on me, burning me to my soul. He twitched his bottom lip as if he had a distasteful substance in his mouth. He straightened his posture, and his suit, and I couldn't help but to see how damn sexy and even more handsome he was; but he was upset about something. I knew he was having a hectic day but he was looking at me like he wanted to send me to my grave.
What did I do wrong this time?
"So you two were close?" he asked, coming over to my desk.
Mr. Hollen had never been interested in my personal life, or even asked about it, but now here he was asking about Bradley.
What's up
Jasmine's POVThe burning sensation in my chest wasn't from any happiness or lust; it was from the anger getting stored there; and I kept my sanity because I couldn't be completely bothered by Mr. Hollen and Jessica Hills. I had a younger sister to look after and a dying mother to worry about.Although it did come as a shock at first because he was described as a 'playboy bachelor'; in a funny kind of way, I was happy he was finally settling down with someone.I just hated it was her.________________________At the end of the day I gathered my things and stuffed my belongings into my bag. I refreshed myself with a glass of water and headed for the elevator. As I got in he got in with me."Hi," he greeted with a smile I'd never seen."Good afternoon, sir.""Can we talk?""About what, Mr. Hollen?""About us."My eyes popped out of their sockets as my ears collected his words. Us?
Evan's POVShe just rode away with that asshole Bradley and left me standing in the parking lot. What was it exactly that he wanted from her?She had been working for my father's company for over a year and never once had I seen her with someone of the opposite sex. Now, all of a sudden, Bradley was back in town and he was so interested in having her back in his life.Didn't he have a chance to keep her in it when she was in college?I raked my fingers through my hair and got into my car. I drove home slowly, thoughts floating through my dreamy head. When I got to my house -- a mansion, of course -- Jessica was standing by the gate with an angry expression on her face. She walked up to my car immediately."Baby I'm so happy you're here. THESE MORONS WOULDN'T LET ME IN UNLESS YOU CAME!" she screamed and stomped her feet as if she was a child.I rolled down the car's window and my guards opened the gates.
Jasmine's POVI felt bad.I felt terrible.A sickening feeling at the pit of my stomach made the ride to the hospital very, very uncomfortable, and my sister wasn't helping my current feelings. Instead, she kept on asking Bradley exasperating questions about me and him.He was blushing like a clown and seemed to enjoy talking about his intentions on fixing what was broken between me and him and becoming a better man.I was the only one who wasn't interested in the conversation because I could not shake the image of Mr. Hollen's eyes murdering me when I got into the car with Bradley.Things happen and sometimes you don't know how you've gotten to a point in life, but, yet for all, you're still there."This is great Jassy. Maybe reconnecting with Bradley wasn't such a bad thing," Zenia said."Oh, we both know why I'm now tolerating him, Zenia," I said back, shaking my head from the thoughts of even hav
Jasmine's POVI felt like my brain was doing somersaults off the walls in my head and I couldn't comprehend as to why Bradley disappeared right after I asked him for the money to help save my mom, whose condition was critical. He said he would give me the money. He looked sincere enough when I told him about my mother's health. But he was gone. No phone calls, no texts, no emails. He just upped and left._________It was the beginning of yet another week. I was at my desk arranging the files Mr. Hollen had asked for three hours ago. Putting my emotions aside, I focused on the task at hand."Here are the files you asked for," I said as I entered my boss' office and walked up to his desk. His eyes were locked onto the computer screen in front of him, avoiding eye contact with me."Mr. Hollen--""Then leave it on the desk and get out!" he said, cutting me off and catching me by surprise.I took two steps back.
Evan's POV"HELLO BIG BROTHER!" two voices said in sync as they entered into my office and flopped down on the leather couch in the corner.I couldn't help but smile at the cheerful pair."What are you doing here?" I asked them, still looking into my computer."We're only stopping by to see you. And we're kidnapping you after work today. Dad's taking the family to dinner.""Arrghh!" I groaned."Come on man," EJ protested.A knock came on my door."Come in," I said firmly.Jasmine walked into my office, eyes red from tears."Good afternoon," she said, looking over at Emily and EJ."Hi," EJ answered."Hello there," Emily said with a small wave of her hand."Mr. Hollen, the hospital called me in regards to my mother. I have to sign some papers, giving them the permission to pull..." She couldn't finish her sentence as tears welled up in her eyes.&nbs
Jasmine's POVI signed the permission papers with shivering hands. I couldn't even hold the pen steady enough to sign my name properly. I handed the documents back to Dr. Shannon after reading them carefully and signing my name on the dotted line. I raked my fingers through my hair and covered my face with the palm of my hands as I sobbed quietly into them."You don't want to spend time with your mother?" Dr. Shannon asked me when I was about to leave the room."No. How could I? I'm on the verge of losing her. I'm on the verge of losing the one person who's been there for my sister and I through everything-- through every phase of our miserable lives. Through all the first time experiences, through everything. I'm losing all of that. It's just unfair. It just seems so unfair," I cried and the tears came once again.Dr. Shannon remained silent._________________flashback"Cindy Kingman threw fruit punch all over my dre
Evan's POVThe next day at my office I couldn't wait to see the look on Jasmine's face. I had already transferred the money for her mother's lung transplant and cleared all the outstanding medical expenses so she wouldn't have a burden on her hands.I didn't do this for Jasmine to fall in love with me or for her to think that she owed me. I wanted to do something good, from the heart, for someone I'd been having uncontrollable feelings for. She didn't even know I was the one who paid off everything, and it would stay that way until I was ready to tell her myself.I was at my desk, reading through emails and proposals towards the company.A knock came on the door."Come in," I said.My father walked in dressed in a sharp grey suit, briefcase in hand and adjusting his neck tie.I threw myself back in my chair as a smirk came on my face. It was a pleasant surprise indeed."Aw, old man, you're looking li
Jasmine's POVI tidied up my mother's room for her arrival. She would be home in two days. The surgery was successful but they needed to keep her for further observation. I couldn't wait for her to be back into the house. We missed her so much."So, have you gotten in touch with Bradley yet to thank him?" my sister asked. She was assisting me with the cleaning."No. I've even tried his Facebook page but I can't contact him. And it appears he changed his number.""Hmm, I just don't understand it. He paid for Mom's transplant while he vanished into thin air? That just doesn't sound like Bradley to me. He's too boastful to do something so private.""You have a point, but if Bradley didn't do it, then who? He was the only one I told about mom's condition. He was the only one who knows the amount of money to pay for it," I recalled, mopping the floor in the bedroom."Yeah, you're right. I am just surprise by his behavior. He was
