Chapter 24:

Nina sat on one of the expensive cushions in the Hidalgo empire as she waited for Lady Constanza to come downstairs.

She had been told by the servants to wait patiently as she would soon join her in the waiting room.

In her hand was a glass of water which had been offered to her by one of the servants. Her hands trembled around the glassware, her mind preoccupied with thoughts about her pregnancy and how Santiago would react to the news about it.

She had been expecting a call or a message from him about it, but he had been silent. She couldn’t reach out to him and that was because he was with Renata.

She was going to have a child for him.

For her best friend's husband.

Nina had it all. The money. The fame. The connections.

But Lady Constanza has made her a pawn in her dubious games, just to make sure Renata doesn’t get a dime from the shares of the Hidalgo empire when she eventually gives them an heir.
