Chapter 1

Alessia's POV

The blue sky, the green fields, and the cool breeze that comes from the sea of Celebes.

That's the day that opens up to me every time I wake up, and work all day. until I fall asleep every night. The creation or work of the master is simply beautiful and until now is simply mysterious.

Three years have passed since the day I gave birth to my son Aiden. My life has changed a lot since he sprouted and was born. What I thought would be my sad life has become colorful because of him. He took away my sadness and filled the void in my shattered heart.

Aiden, who is three years old is a very intelligent child. At the age of one year old, he already knows how to speak even though he still stutters. He can understand words too. At the age of two years, he can read and start writing. I know that I became smart because I studied hard, but I was never like my child when I was young. I was not as bright as him. He's gifted to the point that it's almost unbelievable.

At the age of three, he speaks straight and even his behavior is not like his peers. He's too mature, and there is no childishness in him...not unless, when he's facing me. He's soft and smiling when he's with me.

"Scram, Marga." My son coldly ordered Marga who became his nanny. Grandpa took him because the children knew it.

It is not unknown to me that my son's behavior is strange. He's too cold and passive toward one another. But he's warm and kind when it comes to me. I can't help thinking that he inherited this trait from his father. Elijah is cold and passive, it's his trademark.

"Y-young master..." Marga's voice trembled. He doesn't want to leave my son because everywhere he goes it ends up in a fight. She was addressing my son that way because she accidentally found out that Aiden's father is the King of Valeria. She even addressed him as a prince but I did not allow it. And because he's afraid to call Aiden by his name because it's blasphemy to blue blood, he calls him young master even though it's unnecessary.

He has this kind of temper and doesn't want to play with kids his age. He's always saying that his classmates are too childish, loud, and annoying. Once it ended up in a fight because a child insisted on playing with him but he didn't want to. It was a mess because Aiden pushed it out of patience.

The child's mother got angry so the school called me and the headmaster spoke to me. I explained Aiden's situation and that he was not like normal children. He's gifted and was hoping that he will be considered. I was happy because the school agreed. So Aiden's curriculum is different. His lessons are advanced but still joins the regular class. There is one time that I found him reading one of my books which is Quantum Physics. My book was for college level and not for beginners, but he was interested in it. I don't know if he understood that, but I guess he did. He even asked me about the black matter which is still a mystery now and can never be solved.

"I don't know why mommy kept you as my nanny. I don't need a nanny and she is enough for me." Aiden nodded. I can already imagine his cold glare toward Marga.

Yes. I am aware that he doesn't want a nanny and he's being intentionally rude towards Marga every day to make her quit. Marga doesn't want to stop because no one will take care of her, especially since I already have a job in Caracass.

I am now one of the engineers who is developing the town. It all started when Ales Condor asked for my help and they saw my potential and work, so they hired me. I did not join their group because I had no intention of going elsewhere for construction. I cannot leave Caracass, I cannot leave my son.

"Young master, let's say that you don't need me, but you still need me. Who will cook your food when your mommy is not around, especially when she has a job? Your Grandpa Elias is also busy at sea, especially Grandpa Sicario." Marga has a reason for Aiden. Marga is also very used to Aiden's insults to her. I can say that Marga knows how to handle kids with individual differences.

They are always like this every day. They kept debating how important Marga's existence is. I'm used to it and I don't care anymore.

"Whatever..." replied Aiden who gave up. I know he felt defeated again because he failed to make Marga quit.

I smiled because the debate between the two of them was over.

"Mommy... Good Morning, I love you." Aiden greeted me when he got out of our room. He was beaming at me and he ran towards me and hugged my thigh and looked up, staring at my face. His smile is unceasing as long as he's with me.

He's wearing a uniform for his preparatory school. It's an Academy in Caracass and they accept preparatory pupils. But he complains because what is taught in school is too childish. My son was so annoyed when he was asked what is one plus one. He even answered Do you want me to give you the regular math answer or the binary rule? The teacher was dumbfounded by his answer. I was too! How did he learn about binary? That's a Discrete Mathematics! The teacher doesn't even have an idea what's binary means!

He is still arguing with his teacher because what he says is nonsense. He's too advanced, but there is nothing that I can do. Wysteria is not like an ordinary country or city that has schools or arrangements for gifted children. So Aiden can't do anything but endure what they call an advanced lesson. For him, their advanced lesson is still pathetic.

"Good morning, I love you more, Aiden. You have to be good at school. Just answer all the exercises and assignments, okay?" I remind him. I promised him that if he will be a good boy, I will let him read the books that Lolo brought from the mortal realm. They are all advanced books when I was in college.

"I will mommy." He beamed wider as he loves it. He never complains about his concern. He was acting like he loves everything. But when he is dealing with someone else, that's where his complaints come out.

I don't know, but he doesn't seem to want to show me his so-called negative side of him. I find it cute, somehow. But what he doesn't know, is that I also know everything. I am not some stupid mom who is not aware of her scheming son. Thinking he's innocent. I just don't tell him. I let him think that I am clueless about his naughtiness.

Aiden is a scheming boy but in a good way. I'm just thinking now that when he grows up and becomes a young man—I can't help but feel sad, but I've accepted to myself that I won't be a part of his life at those times. But I can't help but think that when he grows up, he won't be a simple person.

Aiden will be a difficult man as grows up. I can already imagine his stoic and cold eyes, uninterested in things he doesn't care about. Mostly, smart people are uninterested in things that don't catch their attention. I wonder if it will be the same.

I want him to be warm, but how can I do that if, at this age, he already knows how to manipulate the people around him? How can I even teach him, if he only shows his warm side in front of me? I can't believe that even though Elijah is not around and will never be part of his childhood, Aiden was still able to grasp his characteristics like Elijah was here all along.

"Miss Condor, we are leaving for the young master's class," Marga says goodbye. It was carrying Aiden's bag full of Academia equipment.

"Alright, be careful." I just promised and bent down to hug Aiden before he left. "Be good." My last will to him and what Aiden responded to me was a kiss on the cheek.

"See you later, mom," Aiden said goodbye to me, and then the two left.

There is no one at home now because Papa Elias is busy in the ocean because of the three days of harvesting fish. Grandfather went on a walk I don't know when he will return.

So we are the only ones living in the house now. I got dressed quickly. I wore a typical Caracass outfit. A pale yellow sleeveless, foot-long deep v-neck greek dress.

I just let my long hair fall to my butt. I prepared my equipment and locked the house. I looked at my feet and saw Sushi patiently standing and looking at the road leading to town.

He wants to join my son. But I did not allow him since kids will try to mess up with him. I don't want an accident to happen just because of my negligence. Sushi is after all, not an ordinary puppy.

"Don't sulk Sushi. You know why I don't want you to go with Aiden." I told Sushi to stop complaining.

Sushi didn't speak, or more like he doesn't talk in his puppy form. I know Sushi understands, he's intelligent and I don't need to explain myself bit by bit.

So after I locked the door I walked to town to work. Sushi will be staying with his pack while I am away for work. He will also come home once I am back.

I inhaled the cool air. It's been three years since then, and Elijah never appeared in front of me. He gave up. At first, I was saddened by that fact, but I thought not to make it an excuse.

I shouldn't be surprised or sad because I've been expecting that for a long time. So little by little, I learned how to stop loving him. Every day, I kept reminding myself that there are things that are more important to me now than him. And with that, I learned to unlove him. Feelings are no longer the way they were before. I can now let him go without regrets...without looking back.

It's true what they say that no matter how much you love someone if you choose and learn to stop loving them, you can do it even if it seems impossible. It took time, but I was able to do it. Maybe it also helped that there is something more important to me now than him.

For me, Aiden is now my everything...and Elijah is a history or a passerby.

I heard a lot of news from him even though I am not willing to listen. The Kingdom was in an uproar for the past years. There are a lot of killings like the king turned into a madman. Right now, he was already labeled as a mad king and his people are already afraid of the king.

They were afraid before, but now they are doubly afraid. There's a lot of noble blood who were killed for unknown reasons. The ever-peaceful Valeria was long gone. The kingdom started its bloodshed three years ago.

That's not the only change I've noticed. I learned that Elijah is now married. I don't know when he got married because I haven't heard any news about the preparation or the woman he married. This rumor circulated like a virus in the air. The king is already married and there are speculations that the queen of Valeria is now the beautiful girl in the palace. It just can't be proven especially since there is no official announcement. But it was a hundred percent sure that Elijah is now a married man.

I remembered the girl he was hugging that night when everything started to get messy and painful. I can't think of anyone else he could marry but that girl.

That was my one final blow and I decided to completely throw away all my feelings for him. We went separate ways with different lives we took. I hope he will be happy.

I walked with a smile and passed some citizens. I went to the office of the builders. When I got in there everyone was busy.

Ales immediately greeted me, looking like he hadn't slept all night because of the deepening and darkening under his eyes.

"Alessia, you need to visit the hospital that is being built now. We don't know anything about medicine so it's better that you go." Ales told me that his soul seemed to separate. He's too stressed out.

A new hospital was built in Caracass. I did not design it, it was someone else.

"But I'm not the engineer of that project," I replied to him. I still need to check the blueprint to study it. I can't just go there and find out everything right away.

"Here." He gave me a rolled-up paper that I think is the blueprint of the hospital. "It's pretty easy, but we're not familiar with these things. We're not sure if there's anything to add or change."

I frowned. "Ales, they just need to follow the blueprint. I don't think I need to go there." I answered him. It doesn't mean that I have medical skills, I'm already fit to check it. Medical skills and construction skills are two different things.

Ales scratched his head. "A doctor complained. We couldn't find out what was wrong when we went because the doctor didn't want to cooperate. So we decided to send you because you might see what's wrong there." He explained to me.

I held my breath. I receive a lot of revisions because of the request to add or subtract from the construction. It was fine since it's only natural for that to happen. There are inevitably changes.

"Alright, I'll go after lunch. I'll study the blueprint first before I go there." I responded to Ales and his face immediately lit up.

"Thank you, I'll leave you and I have some things to finish," Ales said goodbye to me and ran back to his desk.

I sat down and opened the rolled paper and started studying the blueprint. I have to make it quick since there are still other blueprints that I need to check.
