"I want him to marry me tomorrow."
The words slipped smoothly from Caraline's mouth like a hot air balloon reaching freedom by flying into the sky after being gripped by the fingers of a child. On the other hand, the woman was not entirely calm after saying so. She felt indecisive and fearful at the same time. The three men in front of her would probably think she was crazy for saying that.
"Which one of you is Jacob Aberald?" repeated Caraline.
Caraline hated mention of his man’s name. Although she had never met him, she assumed that the man had imprisoned her in an infuriating fate for the past five years, and possibly for years to come.
On the other hand, as the leader of the Aberald family, Jeremy did not intend to behave disrespectfully by letting a wealthy woman like Caraline repeat her question twice. It was just that his focus was more on digesting her words. As he looked at his two younger brothers, Jeremy also felt that Jonathan and James were feeling the same way.
Jacob Aberald? Asking him to marry a Caraline? That's absurd. That name didn't even exist in this world anymore.
Jeremy saw this as an opportunity. If he had his way, he could have his two younger siblings pretend to be Jacob Aberald, or maybe he could claim the name himself. However, considering who he was dealing with, that was the worst possible option. Deceiving Caraline would be like preparing a grave for the Aberald family.
"No one from the Aberald family is named Jacob Aberald, Miss Caraline," Jeremy said with a contrived smile.
"Is it possible that you have the wrong person?" Jonathan spoke up.
Meanwhile, James was busy stealing glances at Caraline. She was much more beautiful than she looked in the media, he thought.
"I don't like lying men. You know, I could have done bad things to your family and company if I wanted to, but be thankful that I'm not that bad. So, don't waste my time seeing your fake smiles and listening lying words."
"Where is Jacob Aberald? Bring him to me now!" Caraline ordered without giving the three men in front of her time to defend themselves.
"Please forgive my bad manners, Miss Caraline." Jeremy bowed. "I did not mean to deceive you. I did so solely to protect you."
"What do you mean?" Caraline gave her a disapproving look.
"Miss Caraline, the man you seek is nothing but a disgusting disgrace to the Aberald family. He has been banished and is no longer part of our family. I'm very afraid that if he were to be near you, he could bring endless misfortune to you. Please understand, Miss." Jeremy pleaded.
"Disgrace or filth, I don't care!" said Caraline firmly, "I came here to see Jacob, not to hear your compassion. So, bring him to me now, and don't waste any more of my time here!" Caraline pounded on the table.
Jeremy Shocked, quickly regained his composure. As the host and leader of the Abareld family, his pride had been stripped away by Caraline's brazen behavior.
"Alright, Miss," Jeremy said. He ordered James to bring the person Caraline was looking for to this room.
James snorted in exasperation. Had it not been for Jeremy's orders, he would not have wanted to share oxygen with the man in such close quarters. Leaving the main family room, James angrily headed towards a small building at the back of the house.
"Hey, rubbish, come out!" shouted James, banging loudly on the door. "Don't make me throw up from having to share the air with you for longer in here."
"Do you hear me?" James kicked the door of the small building several times. He didn't care if it was broken or destroyed. If the occupants died, he would be grateful. "Come out now!"
"I hope you die, rubbish!" James chose to leave the house. Not only did he leave behind a broken door, but he also swore.
"What's wrong?" asked a man who had just come out of the door. His voice was rather loud as James was already some distance away from him.
"Come to the living room now! Run as fast as you can!" replied Jemas while chuckling at his joke.
"Where's Jacob?" asked Caraline as she saw James sitting back down next to Jonathan.
James replied with a big smile, "He's running here, Miss Caraline. You take it easy. He's a good runner, if I'm honest."
Jeremy and Jonathan smiled as they heard James' words.
Caraline did not feel the need to respond to the words just now. In contrast to her nonchalant demeanor, the woman tried to shake off the nervousness when she heard the man was on his way here. Caraline glanced at the clock a few times, then fixed her hair, which did not look at all disheveled. Just as her attention was drawn to her phone, she received another call from Diego. She chose to ignore it.
"Ms. Caraline, about what you said earlier, was it serious?" Jeremy asked.
Understanding the question, Caraline replied, "If I wasn't serious, I wouldn't have set foot in your little hut."
Time seemed to slow down for Caraline. Every time the hands of the clock ticked, she felt her heart beating faster. This was outrageous, whereas when she met Diego on several occasions, she could still control her heartbeat normally.
As a woman, Caraline couldn't deny that Diego was the perfect man. A good-looking physique, a charming aura and charisma, and assets scattered in various regions, all of which are a great attraction for every woman.
What woman wouldn't fall under his spell?
"Miss Caraline," Jeremy called for the umpteenth time as the woman drifted off into reverie.
Caraline felt like she had jumped through time. Her body and mind returned to their original consciousness.
"The person you're looking for is already here," Jeremy said with a displeased look at the man sitting across from him. "Please prepare yourself."
Caraline had been waiting for this day for several years. Therefore, she did not want to waste the opportunity. The man named Jacob Aberald must marry her immediately, even if he already has a girlfriend or wife.
Let's take a look at the Jacob Aberald that Caraline has been looking for for the past five years.
Is he worth looking for that long?
Is he worthy of making Caraline feel tense and curious?
Is he worth fighting for that Caraline has to travel tens of kilometers just to visit his house?
Caraline looked up slowly. Her light brown eyes kept shifting from Jeremy, Jonathan to James. Then when Caraline stopped at the man sitting at the very end, her body instantly froze.
This can't be. He's disabled man, Caraline thought.
Caraline felt like she was being punished by fate when she found out that the man she's been looking for all this time is a man in a wheelchair. Oh, God, Caraline felt like swapping roles with the vase on the table. Caraline greedily inhaled oxygen. She seemed unwilling to let the man named Jacob take away her air. Her hands unconsciously squeezed the hem of her skirt. Caraline was completely shocked by this fact. God, what are you really up to? Caraline thought. "I know this is very hard for you, Miss," Jeremy said with a smile. He cheered inwardly with satisfaction. This was payback for Caraline's insolent behavior. "We warned you from the start." "We'll be happy to shoo this scum away for you, Miss," Jonathan said, "or if you wish, we can beat him unconscious." "I'll be very supportive if you choose the second option." James chimed in. "I will gladly do so." Caraline was still on the couch. She needed a little extra time to digest this. She wanted to be angry now that all her
"Tell me," Caraline said as she sat back down. Her arms were crossed over her chest, and her lips were curled in a sardonic smile. Oh come on, she was so giddy and depressed that she had forgotten that anyone would do the same."What do you want?" Caraline crossed her legs. She could guess that Deric's requirements were not far from money. After all, this was a good opportunity for the deformed man to reap the benefits. Other than misfortune and humiliation, the man had nothing left, did he?"Miss Caraline, please don't listen to that disabled man," Jeremy said. "I truly apologize for his impudence. You can—""Shut up!" interrupted Caraline, "I don't want to hear anything more from your mouth."Jeremy's jaw suddenly hardened as soon as he heard it. His offer was completely ignored."I have only one condition, Miss," Deric said, "my brother's company is currently on the verge of bankruptcy. It will take at least ten million dollars to stabilize the company."Right after Deric said so,
Caraline had not been well since her return from the Aberald residence. For most of the afternoon, she locked herself away in her office, not wanting to be disturbed by anyone. All she did was sit in front of her computer and drift off into a daydream. Caraline couldn't concentrate on work at all. Therefore, everything related to the company was left to Helen. At over eight in the evening, Caraline was still in her office. She was occasionally massaging her head, which was very dizzy. It wasn't because of her crazy actions today, but because her stomach hadn't been filled since noon. Just as Caraline was about to call Helen, her assistant appeared at the door."Miss Caraline, I brought you dinner." Helen placed a tray with a bowl of hot chicken soup and a glass of water on the table.Caraline, who was standing in front of the window, instantly turned around. Her gaze was immediately drawn to the food on the table. "I didn't know you could read my mind, Helen."Helen took a few steps b
Deric's body landed on the ground unpreventably. The man tried to get up by focusing strength on both hands. "Don't worry, I'm fine.""No one wants that from you, Trash," Jonathan said without any guilt.Deric's face stuck to the ground again as his hands failed to lift his body. Even so, he did not give up trying the same thing over and over again. This was no big deal to him. He had already experienced more severe bullying than just being kicked off the terrace and ending up kissing the ground.Jonathan and James once tied him to the big tree behind the house overnight. The two brothers forbade anyone to untie him. Only in the morning, did they let Deric leave with a limp body after a fit of giggles. Not only that, a few months ago, when the Aberald family received an invitation from a business partner, Jeremy suddenly invited him to join. However, while on the way, Deric was suddenly forcibly dropped off in the middle of the highway without phone and money. When he returned home, i
Throughout the night, Caraline couldn't sleep because she was trapped in her thoughts. Watching a movie, taking a walk in the backyard, and finishing a few books all failed to induce drowsiness. It wasn't until the clock struck 4 am that she fell asleep on the sofa and woke up to sunlight.Caraline shook out her hair that was left loose. She was sitting in her study with a cup of tea and a few slices of cake. When there was a knock on the door, Caraline took a deep breath and let it out slowly."Miss Caraline," said Helen, who had just entered the room, "the preparations are almost complete.""Almost?" Caraline set the teacup down on the table. Her eyebrows knitted slightly. "Is there a problem, Helen?"Helen shook her head, then smiled. "The thing that keeps these preparations from being completed is the arrival of the groom and... the bride in her wedding dress." "What about security, Helen?""We have put a super tight cordon around Mililine Tower 2, Ms. Caroline. We have made sure
After passing through multiple guards and checks, the car carrying Deric finally entered the Mililine Tower 2 area. The man then got out of the car. Not long after, his three siblings also set foot in front of the building lobby. The luxury car carrying Deric finally returned to the road. Seeing this, James could only bite his lips hard. He was very upset because he was not allowed to touch the car of his dreams. It's like seeing a pile of diamonds in front of your eyes, but your hands and feet can't touch them."You're just lucky, Rubbish!" cursed James at Deric who was scanning around the building.James felt the need to quell his frustration by teasing Deric. To that end, he kicked the back of the wheelchair until Deric almost fell out of it. Thankfully, the man with the blue bead was still in his chair."James!" screeched Jeremy in a stifled voice. His eyes glared as if he wanted to devour his brother whole. For the first time in his life, he didn't want to see Deric get hurt. "D
Caraline froze instantly when she saw Deric in front of her with one arm outstretched. The man's smile was like magic, turning her body into a statue embedded in the middle of a garden. The deeper Caraline sank into the man's azure bead, the more her heart raced.Oh, come on, Caraline. He's just a useless like you said, Caraline thought. As the wind picked up, Caraline's consciousness returned. Her eyes blinked a few times, and unexpectedly, her feet took a step toward the wedding altar. In another place, Helen was stunned by what she was seeing. Again and again, she turned to Caraline and the three men of the Aberald family. She stood up and took off her glasses to clarify what she was seeing.Helen frowned, squinting as she saw Caraline and the man in the wheelchair facing the man who would marry them. Helen had no idea where the man had come from. She had checked the wedding preparations in great detail several times, but she hadn't seen the man in the black suit since earlier. It
"What do you mean?" asked Caraline in an angry tone. Her appetite for lunch instantly disappeared after hearing Deric's words just now. Her arms reflexively crossed in front of her chest."Miss, I know that this scenario is very interesting, especially since the team that prepared this is very professional. I even thought it was a real wedding and I'm very grateful for all this," Deric replied with a smile.Caraline responded with wide eyes. Her hands immediately dropped from in front of her chest, landing on the table. Just as she was about to interject, Deric spoke first."Miss, can we please end this game?" Deric looked down for a moment, then back up at Caraline. "I think this is enough. I'm sure you've gotten some entertainment out of the scenario you've laid out.""What do you mean?" repeated Caraline. Her hands pounded on the table rather hard. Her eyes sharpened as if she wanted to skin the man in the wheelchair. Is the handicapped man in front of her making a joke? This is no
