Naomi

The night went by slowly, but in a good way. Micah and I spent the evening curled up on the couch, talking about small things. It felt like a break, a moment where we didn’t have to worry about Dawson, my divorce, or anything else.

Micah had done everything to make sure I was comfortable. He had taken care of me when I needed it most. And for the first time in a long time, I felt like I could breathe again, but the calm didn’t last long.

The next morning, I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I groaned and reached for it, trying not to wake up Micah who was still asleep next to me. I saw the name flashing on the screen, Dawson. My heart dropped to my stomach, and I hesitated before answering.

"Naomi." Dawson's voice came through, cold and sharp, just like I remembered.

I sat up on the couch, trying to keep my voice steady. "What is it, Dawson?"

"I need to see you," he said, his tone making my stomach twist. "We need to talk, face to face."
