Elena’s POV

All my life, I thought if I ever wore a wedding dress, it’d be Liam waiting for me at the end of the aisle…..Not someone else…Especially not my mother's killer. But life clearly had other plans. Crazy, twisted ones I never saw coming. This wasn't even the wedding dress I had pictured either….

If hell had a dress code, this gown was it.

A Tight corset and a veil that made me feel like I was suffocating in tulle and bad decisions.

I stared at my reflection in the mirror, half expecting the girl in white to laugh at me.

“Smile,” one of the makeup artists said. “It’s your big day.”

Yeah…..My big day to marry a man who once held me at gunpoint.

The irony could choke me.

Miles stood by the door in a suit, looking like a bodyguard-slash-grim-reaper.

“Ready, Miss Reed?”

“Do I have a choice?” I muttered.

He didn’t answer.

He just offered his arm like this was some royal wedding that would probably make front-page headlines before lunch.

I took a deep breath, slipped my hand int

  • In Bed with My Shitty Ex and his Uncle: His Contractual wife   Chapter 24- Things Men Pretend Not to Want

Adrian’s POVI was late to the meeting because I didn’t want to leave my bed….that alone should’ve scared me.A flash of what had happened last night jocked my memory. I remembered her lavender smell, her beautiful moans and then how she kissed me like she wanted to forget herself.I stared at the ceiling, jaw tight. This was a mistake……Letting her get under my skin.I could still remember her soft fingers on my chest.I reached for my phone..“Shit…” I exclaimedI had missed three calls. All from the same number…..Serena.I looked at my reflection in the mirror for the last time before opening the door to the boardroom The boardroom was already full when I walked in.Which meant they’d been talking…..About me.About what they always talked about when they thought I wasn’t listening. My uncle sat too comfortably in my chair. That was the first thing I noticed. He didn’t stand or pretend to act like it was a mistake.I stopped walking.“Enjoying yourself?” I asked.A few people flinch

  • In Bed with My Shitty Ex and his Uncle: His Contractual wife   Chapter 23- The Thing You Don't Say Out Loud

Elena’s POVI woke up slowly….like my body hadn’t decided if it wanted to be awake yet.The first thing I registered was warmth…then hoarse gentle breathing. Then the fact that someone was very much lying next to me.I opened my eyes.Adrian was there. He wasn't watching me like a predator or already dressed and emotionally unavailable. He hadn't left our bed empty like he did on our wedding night. On his side….. One arm thrown over his pillow. His hair messed up in a way I’d never seen in daylight and his face was so relaxed…almost soft but still had that small growlIt hit me in the chest out of nowhere….he looks normal. That thought scared me more than anything else.I stayed still, afraid that if I moved, the moment would shatter like glass…….he’d snap back into CEO mode and pretend last night didn’t happen. He shifted slightly, groaning under his breath.“Why are you staring at me like that?” he muttered, eyes still closed.I froze.“You’re awake?” I whispered.“One eye,” he said

  • In Bed with My Shitty Ex and his Uncle: His Contractual wife   Chapter 22 - Almost Truths

Elena’s POVI shouldn’t have come back ready to fight. But I did.The word child kept replaying in my head like a broken voice note I couldn’t delete. A child. Adrian had been keeping Secrets about a child. By the time the car pulled into the mansion, my jaw was tight and my chest felt like it was full of static.I was going to confront him.Tonight.No dodging or pretending.I pushed the door open….And stopped. The dining room was lit.Not mansion-lit.Not “staff prepared this because the boss said so” lit.Candles.Actual candles.Soft music playing low. It looked like everything I wished for.A table set for two.And Adrian. No suit or Cold CEO Energy.Just him. In a dark shirt with his sleeves rolled up, hair slightly undone like he’d dragged his hands through it too many times. He looked… nervous. I loved it.I froze. He looked up and saw me.For a second, neither of us spoke. Then he cleared his throat.“You’re back.”“…Yeah,” I said slowly. “I was going to…just leave.”“I kno

  • In Bed with My Shitty Ex and his Uncle: His Contractual wife   Chapter 21- Steam, Secrets and People Who Talk Too Much

Elena’s POVThe spa was ridiculous. Not “nice” ridiculous. Not “oh wow, luxury” ridiculous. This was the kind of ridiculous where you start questioning capitalism.Everything was white and beige and calm in a way that felt aggressive. The air smelled like eucalyptus and money. Soft music played like it was trying to hypnotize you into forgetting your problems which was ironic, because Cate was pacing like she was about to lose her mind.“I swear to God,” she said, stopping suddenly, “if my mother finds out from the press instead of me, she will actually disown me. Like….no drama. Just cut me off emotionally and financially and spiritually….and everything.”I sat on the edge of one of the lounge chairs, still sore, still tired, still lowkey traumatized from Adrian's surprise of earlier.“Okay,” I said slowly. “From the beginning. Pretend I’m five….Or drunk….Or mentally exhausted which I am btw.”She blew out a breath and dropped beside me.“I’m gay,” she said.I blinked.“…Okay.”She

  • In Bed with My Shitty Ex and his Uncle: His Contractual wife   Chapter 20- The Morning After The Almost-Death

Elena’s POVThe first thing I noticed was the smell. Not blood….Not antiseptic. Because I had half expected myself to be in a hospital or dead at least. It smelled like Lavender.Which immediately pissed me off.Because nothing traumatic ever smells like lavender. Lavender is for spas and fake calm and women who have their lives together.I cracked one eye open. I saw a blurry white ceiling with a gold trimYeah. I was definitely not dead.I blinked again and the room tilted like someone had grabbed the world and shaken it.“Okay… nope,” I muttered, closing my eyes again. My head felt like it had been split open and poorly glued back together. There was this deep, dull ache right behind my eyes, like someone was pressing their thumb into my brain.I tried to remember what happened. Everything came like a flash.Dinner.Serena. The Knife and my threat.People shouting…..Rain hitting my face.Running barefoot like an idiot, Hands suddenly grabbing me. The sharp pain all over .Someo

  • In Bed with My Shitty Ex and his Uncle: His Contractual wife   Chapter 19- Don't Touch Me 2

Elena’s POVThe knife trembled in my hand. Not because I was scared….Because I was done. Sick of his family's bullshit. No wonder my father wanted them destroyed….. Just a bunch of problematic assholes.“Say it again,” I told Serena, my voice shaking but loud enough for the whole table. “Say one more thing and I'll cut your fucking throat out.”Serena’s eyes flicked to the knife. Then back to my face. She laughed. A soft, fake little sound.“You’re being dramatic,” she said. “Put that down before you embarrass yourself.”That was it.Something in me snapped so cleanly it scared me.I lifted the knife higher.“ELENA!” Cate shouted, standing up.Someone else yelled my name. I didn’t know who.Adrian moved half a step forward. “Elena.”The way he said my name was evident that he thought I was the problem.I looked straight at Serena.“You don’t get to talk to me,” I said. “Not here. Not ever.”Then…I slammed the knife down into the table.Hard….She flinched just like I knew she would.T
