Tabitha:

We spent the rest of the day in Collins' room. I ate the soup, and a few minutes later, a maid came and took the bowl away. Collin handed me a stack of novels, and we sat down there quietly, reading, until lunch was brought to us.

As much as I was scared of him, being in a place with natural light and some semblance to the outside world was a lot better than being cooped up in my stuffy room.

Now and then, I would look up from my book to steal glimpses of him reading. He barely moved,

Tabitha:“We’ll soon be done, dear… there we go. What do you think?”I looked at myself in the mirror, and I wasn’t entirely sure of how to feel. The chains hung down my body, clinking softly any time I moved; my back had been oiled, and it shone like polished ivory and had even been decorated with a bit of body glitter, and my hair was in long, full curls. I looked beautiful, but this wasn’t the person that I wanted to look beautiful for. I hated it. I hated that I was being dressed in such expensive clothes just to feed the hungry eyes of a member of the Mafia. I hated that I wanted to live so much and these were the ridiculous things that I had to put up with just so that I wouldn’t have a gun put to the side of my head. “So, do you like it?” The maid asked again, smiling, even though I knew that it was forced. “I love it. I look beautiful.” I spun around and smiled. The words were honest, but not my face. “Excellent. I will be leaving you then. The Consigliere will be coming so

Enzo:I was more than glad to see that the hospital was just as I had left it: security operatives were swarming every inch of the place. A few of them saw me and nodded politely. I nodded back, managing a stiff smile. I was exhausted, my eyes burned and my head was throbbing. My phone had been in my pocket all day, and I flinched every time it made a sound; my heart skipped a beat and shattered to the floor every time I opened it, and it wasn’t an unknown number. “Miss Sandy and Mr. Bolden,” I said to the lady at the front desk. She smiled and typed at the keyboard as she pulled up their records.“And you are?” she asked. “Mr. Ross. I should be on the approved visitors list for both of them.”“And right you are. They are in…”“I know where they are,” I cut her off, with a sigh. “Thank you.”I dragged myself up the stairs, walking without actually thinking about it. What was that monster doing to Tabitha? Was she hurt? Was she even still alive? My heart raced. She had to be. I did

Now and then, I would look up from my book to steal glimpses of him reading. He barely moved, his eyes moving clearly across each line, smiling at some parts, frowning at some, but whatever the case, he was thoroughly enjoying himself. A few times, he met my gaze and I quickly looked away back into my book but often at times, I'd catch him smiling .The titles were interesting, though half of the ones he gave me were romance or some murder mystery that involved romance and even though I was scared out of my wits being captured by the mafia, I still couldn't help going red whenever I rea

Tabitha:I intentionally stayed longer in the bathroom, scared to come out to see Collin and see whatever he was doing. I still didn't understand why he brought me to his room instead of letting me go to mine.My body shuddered as I remembered all the times he had touched me, whispered in my ear, said I was intriguing or said things that highlighted how much he lusted after me. If anything, this was possibly an opportunity for him to have his way with me, and there was no way in hell that I was going to allow that.I slowly slipped into my new clothes while I watched myself in the bathroom mirror. I looked paler, with dark circles slowly forming under my eyes. My lips had lost their colour from being in such a cold place for so long, and even though I was eating, I looked leaner than before.I threw the shirt over my head and pulled on the shorts and just stood there, looking around the bathroom and up at the skylight. If only there was a hatchet or a door or something, I would escape

Tabitha:I wanted to scream. I held my head and shook violently. It hurt; my lungs stung, my eyes watered. I coughed and sneezed, feeling the room spinning all around me. I had just done drugs, and now I was going to die. I had seen people who had tried cocaine or heroin for the first time, and they barely survived. Tears welled up in my eyes. This was the end.I grabbed my head and shook again, feeling like sparks were going off in my brain. I sneezed some more and coughed even louder, feeling my throat go raw. Suddenly, I heard a scream and then a laugh. Through my tear-blurred vision, I saw Erbie sitting next to me with his head thrown back, his face pale and his eyes wide. He was laughing and screaming, alternating between the two. His face was red and puffy, like he had been stung by a bee. He snapped to face me, catching me off guard. “Why, ‘ello beautiful…”He reached out to grab me, but I moved away and fell off my chair. My world was still spinning, and even then I was tr

Enzo:Why did she pick tonight of all nights to be a brat?! I looked at my cards. My mind was racing, but my face was as stiff as a board. I had played poker to know that I had a shitty hand. I was not going to win, unless by some miracle, but I couldn’t fold. The Consigliere had taken away that op

Enzo:Tabitha came back in the afternoon. She barely looked at me when I said ‘Good afternoon’ and asked how Nora was doing. She simply strode past me and went upstairs.Sunday had never been so quiet and tense. I called Grayson Hospital and asked them to return Dr. Gregory’s license to him, and th

Enzo:“I just let her walk out the door. Why the hell did I just let her walk out the door?”My heart was racing in my chest. Three missed calls and still nothing from her. “Fuck!”The chair creaked loudly as I sat down on it, head in my hands. I wanted to scream. What the hell was wrong with me?

Tabitha:We ate in silence. We sat on chairs facing each other, but the entire time, my head was lowered to my food. Even though we had opened all the windows in the house, there was still the faint smell of burnt broth that would hit my nose from time to time. I couldn’t help but wonder what he w
