Not hard to love

Their walk to the cafeteria was silent. Although he was holding her hand and she was by his side, he felt awfully alone. Like she was further away from him. Her mind was preoccupied.

He took her to an empty table in the cafeteria, he could sight his friends from a corner, they waved at him excitedly. He returned the wave.

“Are you okay Ash?”

He interrupted her musings, and she nodded. “Yes of course I am"

“You seem far away”

She shook her head. “There’s a whole lot on my mind" She covered his hand with hers. “I am sorry I haven’t been a great friend”

“Hey, I haven’t been either. It will take time...we haven’t been the same but we will figure it out"

She nodded and smiled at him.

“What would you have?”

“The usual"

He went to get their food. He laid it out on the table.

“Thank you," she told him.

“Why didn’t you say anything?”

“Huh?” she was confused.

“To Henry, when he asked what transpired earlier. You could have told him how Angela reacted...”
