Chapter 7

“You\'d better pray that Rachelle is okay,” Xavier said, glaring at me as he walked directly to Rachelle.

My heart ached, but I was still gritting my teeth and defending myself, “Xavier, whether you believe it or not, I didn\'t push her.”

“It hurts, my stomach hurts,” Rachelle cried as she collapsed weakly into Xavier\'s arms, face pale and cold sweat on her forehead, her beautiful big eyes filling with tears. “Oh, no, my baby… Xavier, Yasmin said that if she can’t have a baby, then I can’t either.”

I was startled. I reflexively looked down, only to see the blood flowing out of her.

I was horrified at her cruel lies and so I quickly defended myself, “You are talking nonsense, it’s obvious that you fell and you’re just framing me. I never said such thing…”

“Enough!” the loud slap interrupted my next words. Xavier glared at me intently. If his beloved woman had a miscarriage, he would definitely tear me to pieces, “Yasmin, I swear, if anything happens to Rachelle and the baby, I will bury you myself.”

He carried her up and ran out.

He didn\'t love me and instead regarded me as an enemy. Our three-year relationship as husband and wife seemed to be a dead end.

When I rushed to their ward, Rachelle\'s operation had already been completed.

She was lying on the bed and Xavier was carefully feeding her chicken soup. He scooped up a spoonful and blew it before feeding it to her. The sight of his gentleness hurt my eyes.

I covered my mouth as I try to hold back tears. I was careful not to make any sound but Rachelle still caught me.

Her eyes rolled and started acting like a baby, “I don\'t want to eat this soup anymore, I just want you to hug me.”

She fell into Xavier\'s arms, her frail hands wrapped around his neck, “Xavier, do you really want to get a divorce? Are you sure you won’t regret it?”

“Why would I regret leaving that vicious woman who harmed our child? This marriage must end,” Xavier hugged Rachelle and comforted her softly.

He didn\'t have an ounce of trust in me and kept blaming me for everything. My heart was completely dead.

I kicked the door open, every heavy step I took felt like I was walking on the ridges of a sharp knife, “Divorce it is then, Xavier! It just so happens that I want to leave an ignorant man like you right away.”

Xavier sprang up suddenly, grabbed me by my neck and forced me to the wall, “Bitch, I am tired of you, okay?”

Oh, what does it matter who is bored with whom? Aren’t all divorces like that anyway?

I smirked, and Rachelle also narrowed her eyes with satisfaction. I glared back at her with the same ruthlessness in my eyes, but she didn’t budge.

When Xavier brought her back into our lives, I should’ve understood right there and then that he and I were complete enemies.

I raised my head and straightened my back. I looked at the man in front of me, and said calmly, “Okay, I will wait for you at the Civil Affairs Bureau. Don\'t make me wait too long.”

I took the divorce papers and rushed to the Civil Affairs Bureau.

I sat down in the waiting area and stared at the black lettering on the white paper, looking at each word.

The knuckles of my clenched fist turned white. False pregnancy, a fraudulent marriage, and kicking me out of the house. Every word felt like a sharp knife plunged into the depths of my heart.

Fortunately, everything will be over soon.
