It seemed as if sand slipped from one domain to another with greater acceleration since past two days. The atmosphere around was playing a sad symphony and information of war worked as perfect melancholy voice of a singer. Sadness in the eyes of family members of soldiers was added instrumental music.
Finally, the day of departure was here in sunny, crisp dried form but still, everyone felt humidity in their spine bone. Standing outside the fence surrounding Place of Florence, loved ones of soldiers had bid their farewell and many of them were trying to muffle their gut wrenching sob. Few were struggling to put a brave smile but sorrow's humidity was making it as difficult as if squaring the circle.
Doughty soldiers, cavaliers who were standing with a deadpan face were putting a brave show to strengthen their families but whom were they kidding? The feeling of not being able to watch their faces was being hefty but no matter
The hubbub pacified like grains of sand do before creating havoc in water, making quietness resurface but was it comforting ? Sadly, no! Plush sombreness covered city of Florence after witnessing ephemeral chaos. Wailings subsided as family of soldiers had already left the palace but Rithambara and Justus were still standing on protruding porch.Little boy had taken this news to heart and it was an endeavour consoling him. She kept whispering incoherent words to timid down Justus's cry. His painful sobs were agonizing. Since she was injured, she couldn't sit down and patch him to her chest which she desperatly wanted therefore, she kept flaring her hands through his hair. A dissapointed sigh escaped through her lips seeing her boy crying with such intensity but it was incurable and her heart was vibrating due to same pain's chord. On the other hand, Justus's heart was plunging with pain at his father's departure while his face was smothere
In a reflex, Aquila covered her wrist with alternative palm and stood unblinking. Her heart was thumping and she was sure that even Ritha could hear the rhythm. She started chewing her bottom lip in anxiety seasoned with anticipation while beads of perspiration adored her forehead like pearls. She wanted her demeanor to be composed but times like these, where one is questioned, opposes calmness. " No need to hide it Aquila, I know about your wounds. Remember, I was just metres away when intruder pierced your wrist? Poor lady tried to mess up with my defender and I pray to Almighty that she gets hefty punishment. " ( incident happened in Chapter 21 ) Aquila's body seethed with anger at her carelessness. From camouflaging as Aquila, struggling to maintain relationship with Luca, juggling between two identities, listening to Stephano's and Master's crude words, she did it all but o
This was a tough chapter to write but nonetheless, I did it and kept myself motivated by this song. Tapping sound created by hoof of horses ceased indicating that they have reached their war destination, Frosinone, a serene and cold place which was about to witness a brutal massacre. It was the time past half a year (autumn season) and the chilly winds welcomed Florence's army. Though this time of year didn't get heavy snow, still, good amount of probability favoured it. Climbing off his white horse, Augustus caressed his mane and in return, the horse neighed. Smiling at him, he tied him to the nearby temporary wooden peg and removed his hipposandal ( used for protecting hoof of the horse) allowing his hoofs to breath naturally. He asked one of the soldiers to bring a thin woolen blanket to cover back of the horse to protect him from the chilly weather.
The yellow lights from the lamp bombarding on big paintings all across was terrifying. Big size portraits of her mother in law hung on walls and they were so realistic as if staring at her. She looked back to have a peep at Marcus who had down casted his eyes. She was too stunned to speak looking at all the portraits. Apart from one or two paintings of nature sceneries and animals, all belonged to Queen Athena. She dared to go very near to the portrait on the wall in from of her. Ah! The strokes! So meticulously painted which made the art come out alive. The red gown had perfect dark strokes making it look like real folds of fabric while blue iris had some magical silver strokes like real ones. Lips were so perfectly shaped with slight gap which could only be picturised by a real artist and observer and posture was delicately framed like that of a queen. " The painting is so majestic bu
Rithambara ran out of the room followed by Marcus. Three guards were laying on the ground clutching their stomach. They had fatal injuries and she looked around to see remaining soldiers fighting with Balbina and few other men. Two out of them looked very familiar to her. She pressed her temples to stress her mind and then it popped up! One of them played chess with her saying that he was Mario, third general in chief of Florence army. Her jaws clenched when she realised that he was part of Eagles. Besides him, stood the young lad who tricked her on mask procession day. When he saw Marcus who was standing behind her, he gestured him to run away from there. When Marcus was about to run pass through her body, she held his collar and within a flip, snatched his sharp dagger. She pressed it against his throat in a manner that a bit of more pressure would have pierced his skin. She threatened all of them, " throw your swords down or else, Marcu
' Eagles are from Sicily ? 'And that's when it struck him! He should have known it because it was impossible for neighboruring kingdom to trespass in palace without anyone noticing them. When Valentina came to palace of Florence, there were few noblemen and maids who accompanied her.He was in his thoughts when Aurelius spoke in shocked, " Oh my Good Lord! Now I know how the map got stolen! "Augustus turned towards him with a raised brow and asked, " how? "Aurelius bit his lips and hesitated before speaking as he didn't know whether Augustus would believe him or not but he was damn sure about his theory. He stared deeply in Augustus's eyes before speaking in one go, " It was only Valentina with whom I shared about the place where we had hidden the map. She was sad and worn out with all the happenings in palace. One day, she visited me and I tried to distract her by talking about our strat
" She never did that. It was Valentina who mixed the poison but she kept the bottle in Mother's room and everyone thought that it she who did this. Father was the only one who believed on her. Augustus threw her in dungeon when she got into heated argument with Valentina and that vicious lady knew how to play her cards. When Flavia or Tatiana threw bitter comments at her, she never retaliated which she could have easily done. She only fought with Mother to pull her down and it pained her. Augustus hated her and it hurt her. One day, Valentina visited her but their fight broke ugly and Mother ended up holding her neck. Valentina took it as an opportunity to frame her bad infront of Augustus. Mother was crying, begging but Augustus wasn't having of it. Finally, she succumbed to all the humiliation and killed herself. " he broke down and cried bitterly. The light lamp had fallen down from his hands and it rolled away just like his tears. Now that he was
I thought it'll be the last chapter but Bruh! It's longer than I thought ! Here's the chapter! Next one will be soon if I get votes. When King Cassius arrived in Frosinone after defeating Naples, he was pleasantly shocked. It was army of Florence, his dear son in law. He smirked thinking about poor Augustus as soldiers were laying dead smudged in red liquid.' Did any one of the small neighborhouring state killed half of his army?
