Ten seconds

Ten seconds. There are only ten seconds left. Breathe, try to focus, and don't think about bad things. I put the pencil in my bag and took the sheet. It was an exam that would help me a lot for my final grades, I was at the end of the race and I couldn't afford to go wrong. When the clock made that strange sound that time was up, everyone got up to turn in their exams.

I stood up, hooked my bag over my shoulder, and walked over to the desk. I put the exam on top of the others and left.

"Elizabeth," Grace calls me, my best friend. "Are you going to the show tonight?" Was what she asked me. I sighed deeply and tried to think about whether or not it was worth going out today; I had been submitting a few job applications and was eager to wait for responses. Although to be honest it has already been a few months of that. I think I should find some part time to pay the rest of my apartment rent.
