Chapter 4: Jack's Jazz...Wrong Reason; Right One

Jack Warren, self-made billionaire was not a man to be trifled with. He allows no one into his inner circle. There was only one man he trusted, he saved him from the streets and earned his respect and absolute loyalty. He looked at the sleeping boy across from him in the car. Since he found Jason in that duffle bag, not once did he leave him alone. He trusts no one around the boy. His mother has entrusted him with another one of her most valued persons. He was curious about his brother but any questions he has to wait for the answers.

“Sir, we are here?”

He looked up and away from the boy. The rundown building was the place he had grown up in. He patiently waited until the current owner died before buying the place. He plans on creating a park here. He wants to wipe away his past. He looked back at the sleeping boy wandering what his life was like before. The boy only admitted once that their mother told him he was his big brother and that he should live with him now. He tried to question the boy but he handed him a letter wherein his mother asked for protection for him.

His ‘man’ William opened the backdoor. He stepped outside but keep looking at the sleeping boy. He stood his full length now.

“Let him sleep. Don’t let him out of your sight.”

“Yes sir,”

“I won’t be long.”

“Are you sure sir?”

Jack looked at the other man his face clouded.

“Yes, you just watch him.”

“Sir, be careful, you don’t know who might be lurking inside.”

“I am fine,”

He squared his shoulders taking the keys from the other man. He stepped towards the door that he unlocked. The moment he stepped over the threshold bad memories comes flooding back. He closed the front door behind him. No one in his employ will learn about his dangerous childhood.

“Eva, where is Jazz?”

Mistress Duncan looked at her granddaughter. Her face wore a looked disapproval.

“I don’t know.” She lied looking at her phone. She was still puzzled that the footage of her cousin had just vanished from the internet.

“How many times must I ask that you not use any electronic devices at the table, Eva?”

“I am sorry grandmother; truth is I am trying to find Jazz on the ‘find your friend App’ Eva lied looking up for sudden approval.

“You better find her, as this isn’t her normal behavior. If you don’t have any results once I finished my tea, I am going to call in the boys.”

“Just give me a moment, please.”

Eva carefully searched for the lost footage really not understanding what had happened. At least she can guarantee her cousin will be in a compromised position once their grandmother discovered her.

“What is taking so long Eva?”

“I am..” she paused.

“What?” Tina Duncan was growing annoyed looking at the girl she also raised as best she could but she had a wild irresponsible streak that she truly doesn’t like.

“I am not sure how to tell you,”

“Just tell me Eva,” she said growing angry while getting up from the table.

Jack felt the shudders from the past shattered his remembered childhood again. He was taught to be fire and ice. He closed his eyes allowing his memories to free fall. He looked into the past seeing the darkest night, the bloodred moon peeking sometimes around the clouds. A moment he watched almost hypnotize as the moon plays hide and seek, while the lashes was burning on his skin, turning his blood icy in his veins.

“Mom, “he whispered like that night as his battered body was burning with rage, everything black as night. Slowly once he heard the door shut, only then did he allowed his body to fall onto the ground. He felt the blood seeping from his skin. He had fallen asleep; it was when he felt the luke warm water touch his shattered skin that he was aware of his mother cleaning up his back.

“I hope you are safe, Mom?” he whispered in the empty building.

He rolled his shoulders dropping the past for now, stepping forward. He absently noticed footsteps in the dust covered floor but didn’t pay much attention too it. Now purposefully he walked towards a very specific room in this rundown motel. Once he reached the door, he took a deep breath before inserting the key into the door. He slowly pushed it opened with a sudden sense of déjà vu stepping into his past, knowing his immediate present and very hopeful for the coming future. All was lost within the blinked of a thought when he saw the jumping figure, legs wrapping around his waist while nails were cutting into his skin.

“Bloody hell, that hurts,” he roars with instant anger. Without even realizing he swiped with his tongue across the erect nipples right in his face. He felt an unexpected bolt of electrify desire coursing through his body. With a heart nearly jumping out of his chest he wanted to grabbed and squashed the figure tightly into his skin making her part of him. He grabbed hold of her body trying to dislodge her from him but she holds on nails still cutting.

“Let go,” he orders.

Jazz bite him on the side of his neck.

Jack hurting forcefully removed her from his body dropping her onto the floor. Very surprised he noticed he landing soft footed staying in the crouching position.

“Who are you?” he looked down at the naked figure at his feet. The face was concealed a moment.

Jazz hears the fury in his voice but somehow, she doesn’t sense a thread from him. She slowly and very deliberate starts to rise uncoiling her body. She suddenly stood fully naked in front of him with laughing brown eyes.

Jack instantly recognized her as the girl from the club. He kept his face aloof and hard watching her. He starts to removed his jacket wrapping her into it.

“Are you okay?” he questions with a serious frown between his eyes.

“Who are you?” she stood her full length but still come up short against his length. The warm very pleasant-smelling jacket dwarfs her within. She had the strangest sense of safety with him.

“I think this is the room, grandmother.”

Eva frown secretly when she found the door slightly ajar. Angry for a moment thinking Allan might have decided to help her she pushed the door wide opened. She comes face to face with a cold-eyed dangerous man facing her. She briefly noticed Jazz covered with his jacket.

“Eva, what is going on inside?”

Tina Duncan stepped into the room. Just within the entrance she stood motionless while she surveys the people all looking at her.

“Explain now!” she ordered.

“Where are your clothes, Jazz?” Eva asked scandalous.

“Jack Warren,” he holds his hand towards the older woman. “I am not sure what was going on here…I want to marry the naked girl behind me. This will be a contract marriage for one year. Allow me to contain this damage right now.”

“What do you get out of this?”

“Don’t question me ma’am.” He said seriously.

Tina Duncan looked into the strange man’s eyes. She saw the hardness. She saw the coldness. She saw something else that quietly broke her heart.

“Just one request,”

“Yes, ma’am?”

“Protect her.”

“Yes ma’am.”

“Grandmother…” Eva yelled, “You are not serious?”

“Be quiet,” she ordered.

“If you had found me in such a state of undress there would have been hell to pay.”

“Jazz Duncan is going to pay a very high price. She is in love with some one else. If this so-called love is true, they will survive this contract marriage.”

Jack reached for Jazz but he only found his jacket in his hand. The three people stood watching in shocked as Jazz simply waltz completely naked down the hallway. He quickly bends and grabbed hold of the dolphin necklace and hurried behind her afraid his little brother would be confronted by the naked girl.

“You have nerve Jazz,” he quietly whispered to himself.
