Chapter 4

ALLEN

"What do you say, Allen?" Pedro asked me.

We both sat in my room at the hospital, thinking of what to do with Juleka's case.

"The doctor said if we try to make her remember, she might end up having a brain damage. But if we leave her, she'd remember on her own, but we don't know how long, " Pedro repeated the doctors words to me.

My mind was perambulating on the matter, wondering what would happen when I try to make Juleka remember the past.

"It's worth a try if we get her to remember me, " I said, finding that idea more preferable than waiting for heaven knows how long.

But when I thought of the past and my harsh treatment on her, worries took over.

"What if she leaves me when she remembers? What if she tries to kill herself again?" I panicked, scared of losing Juleka all over.

I can't go through that phase anymore.

Pedro suggested we try and see if it'd work.

I thought about it and planned to make peace with Juleka if the plan works.

"I won't let her out of my sight ever again, " I promised.

"But how are you going to do it without that grumpy inspector watching?" Pedro asked.

He was right. I needed a better plan to keep Ben from interfering.

But what?

Finally discharged from the hospital, I got Ben's contact from the doctors, calling him.

When he answered, " What do you want, Cadell?" He questioned, recognizing me before I could even speak.

"Impressive. I don't need an introduction then."

"Mr Allen Cadell, don't make me repeat myself again. You can not have my wife, understand?" He raised his voice at the other end.

"I know, Ben. I'm not calling for that, I called for something else," I revealed to him.

He came all calm, giving me the chance to talk to him.

I invited Ben over to my mansion for dinner, under the pretext of just wanting to talk to him about my past.

"You can bring your son and... Wife along. It's just a friendly discussion we're having," I said, extending my invitation to Juleka and his son.

Ben was silent for some seconds before giving me his response.

"Fine then. We'll be there this evening."

"Thank you. I'll be expecting you, " I said, showing my appreciation.

Ben ended the call while I called the attention of my maids, ordering them to make dinner fast.

"I'm having guests tonight. Make it snappy."

"Yes sir," They obeyed getting down to work.

I made sure I monitored my servant's arrangements and other things I planned out for tonight, just to make sure things where in order.

When the evening came, Ben arrived with Juleka and their son.

I stood at the entrance of my home, welcoming them in.

Ben didn't greet me that much but stood aside.

I lowered myself to greet the little man, asking for his name. But he frowned at me, hiding behind Juleka.

"Ethan is not used to new faces," She said.

"Ethan? That's a nice name, " I commented.

Juleka looked straight at me.

When my eyes locked with hers, I felt my heart racing for her touch.

"Um... Thank you for inviting us, " Juleka appreciated, breaking the lock.

I smiled, composing myself while escorting them to the dinning room.

We all sat down and began to eat, talking about things that happens around the city and in the business world.

"Sorry, excuse me. I need to take this call," I said when my phone came ringing out.

I left the dinning room, heading through a different path in my home, hiding in a corner.

I answered the call which was from Pedro, thanking him for calling at the right time.

"Be careful," He warned me, cutting the line.

Before Ben's arrival with Juleka and their son, I had spiked a drink specially for Juleka, and told one of the maids to serve it to her.

I saw the drink being given to Juleka, which she drank while we were discussing.

In no time, I heard Juleka's voice, asking a maid for the restroom.

The medicine has finally taken its effect.

"I feel like throwing up," She had said.

The maid directed her through the path I was hiding in, so she'd make use of the bathroom ahead.

"Thank you," I heard her say, before racing through the path.

I followed Juleka from behind, until she came to a stop, wondering what had happened to her.

"That's funny. For a second I thought I was going to puke. Maybe it was a false alarm," She assumed.

The medicine was a temporary pill that'd make one feel nauseous for a few minutes then back to themselves.

The moment she turned around, I grabbed and pinned Juleka against the wall, leaving her shocked.

It took my mind to the time I had Juleka like this for disobeying me.

I felt my heart beating with worry on seeing the fear in her eyes.

"Mr Cadell, what are you doing?"

"Be quiet!" I ordered, leaving her shivering.

"Didn't I ask you to stay in your room?" I questioned, reliving old memories.

"Room? What are you..."

I shunned her by grabbing her jaw. Juleka tried to push me off, but I had her hands pinned above her head quickly.

She stared into my eyes, getting scared of me.

I still went on, repeating the same action from the past.

"Do you remember when I punished you for attending my party? You had to show yourself to the people, and I made you regret it."

I drew closer to her, as she shut her eyes, panting out in fear.

Her beauty slowly attracting me, sending my hand losing its grip on her jaw, and caressing her lips.

"You begged for mercy and I didn't listen."

I kept this on for a few minutes, hoping to make her remember everything.

And just then...

"No, no, Allen forgive me," She muttered, swaying her head.

My heart skipped on hearing my name from her lips.

She's remembering.

"Allen, I'm sorry," She begged, still swaying her head with her eyes shut.

Her body sway drawing my attention closer. I had my hand cupping her face with gladness rising in my heart.

I kept reminding her of the past while closing the gap between us for a kiss.

But before my lips could take hers, Juleka screamed out leaving me shocked.

"Juleka?"

I drifted back, seeing how she grabbed her head, screaming crazily.

"Juleka!" I called, getting worried about her, as I pulled her closer to get her to stop.

"Damn! Is this what the doctor was talking about?" Fear took over my heart, watching Juleka go insane.

"Mommy!" I heard Ethan's voice from the side.

When I looked, Juleka was pulled out of my hold by Ben, who immediately carried her in his arms.

"Juleka!" He called her, but she fainted.

Ben faced me, lashing out in anger.

"You bastard! If anything happens to my wife, I won't spare you!" He threatened me.

Ben hurried out of my mansion with Juleka in his hold and a crying Ethan following.

I was more worried about Juleka than Ben.

I tried the trick on her and I'm scared I've damaged her brain.

"But she was remembering. Could she have remembered her past? "
