“How did I get here? Who brought me here?” I asked Irene looking her straight in the eye “ I need you to answer me honestly please Irene” I added when I saw her hesitate. She looked at me “I really wish I could answer that question” “I also don't know who brought you here three days ago. I just heard someone knock on the door and when I went outside to check, I found you with a note and a stack of money attached to your body” She said and handed me a note. I looked at the note which reads “You must keep her alive, she is safest here". I tilted my head to one side and examined the note again as if by doing so I can identify the person who wrote it. The handwriting on the note is sharp and elegant, each word like a command. I read and re-read the note then I looked up at Irene searching her face to see any traces of lie but I found none. " Alright but I cannot accept this, I need to leave this city” “You can't Miss Smith…..” Irene said but I cut her off. “Don't call me that, to the entire city and to my family Lianne Smith is dead” I said my eyes cold and emotionless “and I plan to remind dead to them” Irene came closer to me, and placed her warm hand on my hand which is holding the note, a gentle and compassionate expression on her face. " But you are not fully healed child, you can't move around” “ I may not know much about you and your family, and I honestly don't care to know. One thing I do know is that anything that happens today, happens for a reason" she said while nodding. “I can also see that you are a good and kind person,” Irene added. Then she moved her eyes from my face to the note in my hands. I cleared my throat which feels blocked because of his emotional I am “I need a mirror, I need to look at my face” I said changing the topic. In all my twenty two years of life no one has shown me this amount of kindness Irene is showing me except my father. And I do not like the feeling of being a burden to her. I need to get out of here, out of this city fast only then will I be at peace. She nodded and left but soon returned with the mirror I requested for. “Thank you,” I said, collecting the mirror from her. I looked at my face in the mirror, it is bruised but still preserved. I took a deep breath and looked out through the window, then I turned to face Irene. “I have made up my mind, I'll leave by dawn tomorrow morning, you can't stop me from going” She sighed and opened her mouth as if to persuade me more but she gave up and said “It's okay Lianne everything will be fine. You should do what your heart wants” I nodded, looked out through the window and whispered softly “Adrian, Celeste enjoy your new position and marriage while it last because I'll be back soon and when I am back I'll make sure to repay you back two- fold what you did and also take back everything that belongs to me”. Lianne POV Three months later The aeroplane landed on the tarmac, runned for a while before it finally stopped. The door opened and different people were wearing different outfits. Then I stepped out dressed in my black overalls. A short black bodyhug dress that clings to my body in all the appropriate places highlighting my curves, black sunshades, and black trench coat, paired with black toe covered heels. I stepped out of the aeroplane dragging a black travelling bag alongside me. My dark brown wavy hair let loose and bounced softly as I walked. I could feel all eyes on me as soon as I stepped out of the aeroplane. I stopped for a moment and took in a deep breath and smiled. I looked around me relishing the air and environment around me then I continued to walk. My black heels made clicking sounds on the tarmac floor as I walked out of the airport and stood by the roadside. A black sedan came to a stop in front of me and I entered the car then as if registering what's going to happen soon rain suddenly started and it poured heavily on the hard earth making it soft. I smiled in satisfaction and whispered “the game is about to begin …”Ethan's POVI am seated behind my desk, with my shirt rolled up to my elbow as I worked on a file, a project that I am currently trying to get, appending my signature where necessary and cross-checking for any errors when the VoIP desk phone rang beside me. I picked the call.“Sir, a Miss Elara Vale is here to see you” my receptionist said.“Let her in” I replied, hung up the call and continued working on the file in front of me.A knock came from the door, distracting me slightly from my rail of thoughts. That must be the Elara vale that I was informed about.“Come in” I replied without raising my head. The office door opened and someone walked in then stopped probably looking at me.I looked up and I saw her, Elara vale. She has warm honey brown eyes, naturally curved eyebrows, pointed nose, heart shaped full lips, and an oval face framed with strands of brown hair. She has a defined slim and curvy figure.I recognized her instantly, Lianne. The woman I have been trailing. She had d
Lianne's POV The black sedan came to a halt in front of my apartment building which I had secured in advance with a separate identity before flying down to this city. It is a two room apartment located in the heart of the city on the third floor of the building where I would be able to mobilize myself easily.I looked around at the familiar city, nothing has changed.I have come to execute my revenge plans and although I don't know how or where to start from I know I'll be able to carry it out with a proper plan and the right resources.I paid off the driver and took the elevator that will take me to the third floor. The elevator door opened with a ding and I got out, my apartment in front of me. I walked into my apartment, dragging my suitcase along with me.From where I am standing I can see the sitting room, kitchen with a countertop, and a corridor that lead to the two rooms. The sitting room is slightly big with plush white sofas arranged neatly and aesthetically, flower vase

Lianne's POV In an abandoned house on the outskirts of the city.“Dad, please don't leave me alone,” I said while holding my father's warm hand. He looked at me and smiled sadly.“I'm so sorry Anne, that you have to experience all this” dad said, his eyes red with unshed tears.“It's okay dad, I'm okay, I'll recover, I'll be strong just don't leave me okay” I replied frantically shaking my head “Some situations can't be helped, I'm really sorry I do hope you can forgive me for causing you all this pain”“No dad, no” I replied him crying “ Whatever you do Lianne, always remember who you are” he said to me with his firm voice then he turned his back and I felt his hand slowly slip away from my grip.“Wait dad… no.. don't leave me” I stretched out my hands at him in vain. He's gone.I opened my eyes slowly, tears slipping out of the corners of my eyes. It is a dream. The strong smell of disinfectant attacked my nose. I looked at the unfamiliar ceiling above me, I turned my head to the
Celeste POV“She is starting to suspect us and will probably detect the secret today” I said, swirling the wine in the glass I'm holding.“I need you to lure her out to 26th street with a text that you have information about her father's death, that it was planned by someone else and from there let her join her father at the great beyond”“When she takes the bait, you finish her smooth and clean, no mistakes” I poured out the wine slowly into the drain.“I'll send the part payment first when you finish the job you'll have the rest”“Yes ma'am” he replied meAdrian and the company and all the inheritance can only belong to me Lianne, you have no place here. You are better off with your dad. I thought with a smirk while looking into the mirror of the ladies room.*********Lianne's POV I rushed to my room, I need to check the accounts. Lianne's POV “I can't imagine a future without you Lianne, will you do me the honour of spending the rest of your life with me? Adrian my fiance said to me. Today is my engagement day. And it is taking place in the ballroom in my father's mansion. I and Adrian have dated for months now and he has been with me throughout the period of my father's death. He is everything I could ever ask for in a man. He is sweet, considerate, loving and trustworthy. But tonight as he knelt before me offering me a ring, under the glowing chandeliers and brightly decorated room, in the presence of all invited guests, hearing the lines I have so much wanted to hear I can't help the growing feeling of unease in me alongside with happy, sweet and mushy feeling. His behaviour has changed slightly or I had thought it had. Maybe it's just the stress of my father's death catching up to me.“Come on sister, don't keep him waiting, say yes” Celeste, my half-sister came closer to me, held my arm and urged me. C
