Clifford furrowed his brows as he looked at Jason and Keith. Their combined financial loss represented an enormous sum, and Stephen had strictly forbidden him from offering aid. Thus, he was genuinely conflicted at the moment.

He also refused to be treated as their cash cow. He saw no reason why he should cover their deficit simply because their venture had gone bust. Investments had risks, and whoever lost needed to face the consequences.

He scowled as he explained, "I'm drawing the line here—I can't help you in this matter. You should be aware that gains and setbacks are inherent to business.
