25. Arrangements

We did not walk hand in hand, but he gave me a semi-hug, gently pushing me to walk by placing his hand in the middle of my back. When we reached the busy road, he raised his thumb and got us a taxi almost instantly.

I was standing silently next to him like a scared rabbit until we entered the car. He held the door open for me in a  chivalry way, then went around the taxi to sit next to me on the back seat. I gave a fake address, not too far from my real home, and the ride began.

“Thank you for all this. Really,” I turned to look at his ice-cold eyes, and left mine lingering for a little too long.

“It’s nothing. I see that you could use some company and a friendly hand,” Mark pointed, but I ignored his ‘friend’ remark as my plans were pretty different.
