Chapter 7

Without warning, she raised her hand and gave me a heavy slap which forced me to retreat about three steps. The most annoying issue was that she slapped me with her dirty hand.

I tried to smile but to my surprise, the smile was mixed with tears. I was stunned why she had to slap me. Nice BMW seven series stopped in front of the shop.

The man who was interviewed yesterday alighted with a beautiful young girl of my age size. The glass window of the car was tinted so I couldn’t identify the one behind the steer.

Unfortunately, I was caught with tears on my face. I tried to smile but the smile couldn’t cover the water, the leftover food, and tears on my face. The man greeted me and I nodded. I left them and headed towards the entrance. I heard the man asking why I was in tears.

The woman said she slapped me because I was laughing at her. The daughter shouted, oh mom and the man said, that is his nature. He always smiles and does not frown even that was the reason why I employed him. The man dispassionately made the statement.

I saw that the young girl had started packing. I joined her to pack the stock. Mr. Derrick called me at the far end of the store. He apologized to me for what happened and handed over white envelopes to me. He asked me to come early tomorrow morning. I thanked him and left.

My new job kept me busy. So my poster appraisal interest naturally died off by itself. Past weeks the young girl had joined us in the shop. She was really beautiful but she was not giving me a face. 4 by 4 Toyota land cruiser new model parked in front of the store. I rushed to find out if I could help.

A beautiful young girl of my age size alighted from the car. She greeted me politely and entered the shop. Rosaline rushed to hug her as she mentioned her name as May. I could not take my eyes off her when I saw her body figure completely.

She was so attractive to the extent that every man would wish to be by her side. Indeed I was so delighted that I had the chance to get closer to beautiful and highly educated ladies like them.

They sat down inside the store to converse. I didn’t know what exactly May found about me anytime I turned to serve a customer I saw that she was looking at me. I could sense that they were talking about me. I brushed it off and concentrated on my work.

After I had worked with Derrick and Lisa for 3 months my salary was increased from three hundred dollars to 700 dollars. I thought I was not going to work with them for more than four months but after six months my salary was increased to 1000 dollars per month. I could not hide my excitement because I could plan for my life.

I got admission at Central University to offer a BSc degree in Business administration at their Sunday par time classes. Though I was happy I thought about the problem associated with Sunday lectures. The location of Central University was closer to me at the Zongo lane.

But the problem I had was their long hour’s lectures. It was not easy at the beginning but with time I was ok. I thought I was not able to cope with working and learning at the same time but as the saying goes that determination is the flag of success. I managed to handle the two at the same time.
