Isabella's POV

"Nobody will throw you out of Ashford Group."

Eleanor said it so calmly that I almost didn't believe her.

I sat straight on the sofa. My fingers were cold. All my thoughts on her are that she doesn't want me in this family. I am really wrong about her.

*I am sorry that I was always thinking wrongly about. I murmured to myself.*

"Nobody?" I asked.

"Nobody." Eleanor put her teacup down. "Not the board. Not the shareholders. Not even my son."

My stomach tightened. "What if Adrian ch

Adrian whispered my name. "Yes?" I said."Stay with me." He murmured."I'm here.""No." He pressed his forehead to mine.My throat tightened. As his breath keeps on brushing my neck.Adrian held me until his breathing slowed and he fell asleep like a child, with his arm around my waist.I lay awake in the dark, staring at the ceiling. It was the happiest I had been in this house. That scared me more than anything. At 2:47 a.m., Adrian's phone buzzed on the nightstand.I froze. It buzzed again. Then again.Carefully, I slid out from under his arm and picked it up. The screen glowed in my hand. My sister, Scarlett's name on the screen.I picked up the call. “Adrian.” She called, and I was quiet at the moment. One part of me was telling me to answer her, but the other one refused. So I taped the small cut on Adrian's hand, gently, the way you handle something that might break. Then I gave him the phone. He pressed the loudspeaker."Listen to me, Adrian." Scarlett's voice was soft, alm

"You stood in front of me and begged. You promised you would handle everything. And now your mother is telling me to survive in a company that is trying to throw me out.""I did not know about those officials.""Then who did?"He stepped closer. "Trust me, I will find out.""Before lunch?" I said bitterly.A muscle jumped in his jaw. "Do not mock me.""I am not mocking you. I am scared."The word hung between us. I had not planned to say it.Adrian's face changed. His shoulders dropped, just a little. He reached out, then stopped, his hand hanging in the air between us."You do not need to be scared," he said quietly."Then prove it.""I will.""How?"He didn't answer. His phone buzzed in his pocket. He took it out. I watched his face as he read the screen. The color left it."Adrian?"He turned the

What if he decides I should stop working?"Eleanor laughed softly. It was not a warm laugh. It was the laugh of a woman who had ruled a family for thirty years."Adrian is my son, Isabella. He decides nothing against my wish."I wanted to smile. I wanted to feel safe. But I was thinking about the night Adrian stood in front of me with red eyes and shaking hands. *Don't worry, Isabella. IsabellaAdrian turned me onto my back and lowered his chest against mine, his mouth steady on my breast. He kept at it until heat pooled low in my belly and I melted into the sheets, boneless and breathless. He didn't let up. He rolled me from one side to the other, slow and unhurried, and the bed tilted beneath us.Then he lifted me, turned me away from him, and eased me down, angling my body to give himself better access. Before I could catch my breath, I felt him against me, moving in slow, deliberate strokes. A louder moan escaped me."Honey, you're too sweet," he whispered against my ear. "How do you want it?""Harder," I breathed. "Please, harder."For long minutes, nothing existed but the rhythm between us. Heat spread through my body, languid and consuming. That was when his phone lit up on the bed close to me.I didn't mean to look. I swear I didn't.But the screen was bright, and the message preview was right there, and my eyes moved before my conscience could stop them.Sc

Isabella I didn't answer; I let go of his wrist. His eyes darkened. The rest of my clothes followed, and each time his hands paused, waiting for me. Each time I gave him my silence, my silence said yes.I should have been embarrassed. Instead, I felt something dangerous rising inside me, something bold and reckless that I didn't recognize."You are staring," I said, trying to hide behind a joke."I am looking," he corrected. His voice was thick. "There is a difference.""What difference?""Staring is when you can't believe something is real." His gaze traveled up slowly to meet mine. "I know you are real, Isabella. I just want to remember every second."My heart cracked open a little.*Don't fall for him. Don't you dare.*Then his lips found my neck, and every sensible thought drifted out of my head.He kissed a slow path along my collarbone, lower and lower, and my breath broke. My fingers dug into his hair. The room tilted, then spun, as if the whole world had twisted off its axis

IsabellaI picked up my coat from the chair and walked to the door. This time, he didn't stop me. I think he finally understood that holding on would only make me run faster. My hand was on the doorknob when his voice came, rough and broken behind me."Before you go, you should know something."I didn't turn around. "What?" I asked immediately."Remember, we're at peace in this marriage and you want to destroy it again.” He said and continued. “I had already accepted you as my wife and gave you a job in my company. What do you really want from me, Isabella?”“You know exactly what I want, Adrian.” I said without looking at him.But the truth was that Adrian loves me now, and his words made me unsettled. Could it look like I am ungrateful to him for pushing him that he must tell his mother about how he forced me into this marriage?I stared at Adrian, who sat on the bed looking at me. One part of me was telling me to ignore him, but the other one said no. I am his wife and he is consid
