ALMOST DIED

Ralph ignited the engine and drove away. Halfway through the drive, Lucinda fell asleep, resting her head on the fogged window of the car.

"I told you taking you home was not just a big deal." Ralph said staring at her, and when he realized she was sleeping, he drove the car to the front of the building she lived in and parked there.

He stepped out of the car, adjusting his tie, and opened the door, making her fall toward him. He supported her head and tapped her on the shoulder to wake her up, but she didn’t respond, so he picked her up and carried her out of the car in his arms, shutting the door with his leg, and started walking into the building with her, but he was stopped by the receptionist.

"Sir, where are you going?" She inquired.

"I'm not sure, can you tell me where she lives?" He asked, turning so she could see Lucinda’s face.

"Oh, you don’t need to go upstairs. Let me call her sister to pick her up." The receptionist said she was dialing Lucinda’s home phone, but no one p
