LUNA EMBER'S FATE

Sounds of gunshots rang out in the atmosphere, filling the surroundings with noise.

Alexander looked up in the sky, "what's happening", he muttered to himself as he searched for the position of the moon, in a bid to calculate his future and his family's fate.

The moon was getting darker than blood, ominous feelings filled Alexander as he started running towards the hallway of the mansion.

"Whenever you see the moon getting darker than blood, run, it means the werewolves are coming for you" I shouted as I remembered my father's warning.

"Amanda! Amanda! We have to move now, get the children and meet me in the car" I literally screamed as I made my way through the backdoor of my study, in a bid to escape whatever was to come.

I have to get my family to safety, watching Amanda struggling with my two little sons, I quickly rushed to take them from her.

"Keep up dear, if we don't make it to the safe house, it will be very bad for us all" I whispered to my wife, as I quickly stuffed my kids into the car, and got into the driver's seat.

Howl's of werewolves filled the air, and sounds of heavy footsteps got my attention.

" I think we have been discovered," I said to my wife as I tried to hide the panic and sweats that were threatening to run down my face and obstruct my eyesight.

" Can you remember the route to the safe house, I told you it was for emergencies like this", I asked Amanda, with my eyes still fully focused on the road, as I quickly navigated the car, to keep running.

"Answer me!"I nearly shouted, she was still in shock and hadn't actually processed what was happening, my shout woke her up.

"I….I think I remember", she answered in a very weak and shaky voice.

"You will take over the wheels, if they catch up to us", I said to her, watching her nod her head, I just hope they don't and that the moon was only playing one of his tricks on us, I thought to myself , as I whispered a short prayer to the moon goddess for strength.

Gunshot was aimed at the wheel of the car, which was a narrow escape for us, as I swerved the car to the right.

Werewolves with red eyes appeared and blocked the pathway, giving a cackling laughter that filled my lungs with fear.

"It's time to fight, Amanda take the wheels now!!!!" I shouted as the red eyed wolves started running towards us with tremendous speed.

I rubbed my palms together and created a barrier between us and them. "Keep moving Amanda", I whispered as I felt my energy depleting with a rapid speed.

Watching them, being stopped from getting closer, got me to grin with pleasure, "no one will hurt my family" I said with glee.

Sounds of bone cracks were heard as the wolf standing in front of the pack, transformed into a human.

"You think you can keep us out forever" He shouted, half hissing, with his eyes filled with loathsomeness.

"The Deviant clan must and will fall tonight" the figure said, as he howled into the air and others howled with him.

"Keep moving, they can't get near", I whispered as I felt Amanda shivering with fear.

"Move faster, they're calling for others, I won't be able to hold on, if they attempt to break the barrier with force," I said to Amanda, who increased the speed, the current speed, she was moving at, wasn't something, she could handle but there's nothing I can do, i have to keep the barrier up.

Hearing the clads of footsteps coming towards us from all directions, I knew we were already in trouble.

I turned to Amanda, " Listen to me very carefully, you're going to ditch this car and run towards the safe house with the children, I will stay here to distract and contain them, do you understand me", she gave a slight nod.

Listening to the ground, the clads of footsteps are more closer than I thought.

I raised my hands up in the sky, peering at the moon, which was still radiating around us, it was still darker than blood, I felt tears stream down my face.

"Is this how the Knights are going to end, I from the generation of warriors and royals, has been reduced to a trash, they can chase and kill anyhow " I whispered to myself as I felt my silver hair, floating up and rotating in the air.

I have heard from my father the story of how his grandfather been a werewolf was caused to take the family into hiding, to avoid his fellow pack members,who sort to keep them in torture for their benefits.

" Give me thy strength, o ye ancestors" I shouted as I brought my hands down and started spinning the car with a very great speed, propelling it forward, using the night and trees as a means of covering.

I can feel them chasing after us, " switch off the lights", I said to my wife.

"Get off the steering and enter the backseat with the children,"

"When I say go, take them and run towards the opposite side, if I survive I will meet y'all at the safe house"

I can feel the sadness that filled the atmosphere, "I love y'all " I said as I turned to look at my children who were whimpering and crying softly at the back.

"Now", I screamed,as Amanda opened the door and started running with the children. I heaved a sigh of relief, as I started the car and switched it back on, to call for their attention.

"If I perish, I perish ", I whispered to myself as I mustered up courage and drove through the trees.

I was immediately surrounded from all sides, peering at the front, I saw them holding my kids and raising them, with their cries surging into my heart, and a tearing pain passed through my body, as I felt myself almost collapsing.

" What the heck happened, I roared" " Amanda where are you", the man holding my kids laughed as he turned to look at the person beside him.

"Is that not Amanda", I questioned myself, she was just standing beside him, without any signs of being a captive or struggling.

" Come and get your children, Knight", the man said, as he placed one of my child's heads under his feet. As I removed the covering around the car and made my way out, the man laughed and squashed my child's head.

"Noooo", I screamed, as I rushed towards them, raising my hands to summon my power and kill them once and for all, but nothing was forthcoming, my hands were just getting weaker and weaker, with each passing moment.

" Have I been poisoned", but from where, I questioned myself.

Cracks of laughter filled the air as they watched me, I have been turned to a clown huh!

" Did she poison me? Was she poisoning me all this while?" I know she wouldn't do that, what does she even stand to gain from it, I thought to myself as I removed the thoughts from my head.

" None of this kids inherited your silver hair, where is the one with the silver hair", they questioned

I didn't answer, as I kept on watching Amanda, who was still silently standing there, " take the child and run" I mouthed to her, tears streamed down her face but she still wasn't moving.

The red eyed man turned around and laughed, while holding Amanda's head and kissing her deeply, which she reciprocated and even rubbed the man's hand.

I can't believe I have been betrayed by someone who I trusted more after myself. I laid down on the floor, as I watched them squash my remaining child's head.

"I'm sorry papa couldn't keep you safe", I muttered to them, the pains of betrayal coursing through my veins and rendering me useless, as I watched the man get closer to me, while raising his legs.

"I hope you're safe Ember, you're our only hope" I whispered into the air as my eyes closed in on the darkness.
