Emperor Richard's POV

The headache was back again, after a hard day shuffling between the barracks, warehouses, and the court. Stress was the fastest killer of great men.

Then there was my wife's drama to deal with. I sighed heavily and looked at the gold leaf ceiling in the office I was currently at, the crime and records department, going through the reports.

The door opened at that moment, making me look towards it. Liam walked in, dressed in his characteristic white clothes and cape. His blue eyes made him look even more dashing in his clothes as he walked to me with a file in his hands.

I was a little bit, just a tiny bit surprised that he came right back to work after his punishment, not resting for even a moment. I looked at his face, and guilt immediately made my chest feel tight.

Why did he make me feel bad and in pain? Damn it. When did I become so soft hearted?

  • LUNA'S SECRET   I KNOW YOU'RE LYING

RONA'S POVI never knew that feigning unconsciousness could be so hard till today. The moment I saw Richard burst into the room, I realized that I messed up. Someone set a trap to make Richard catch me, and I fell right in. He picked me up and laid me back on the bed. Even though my eyes were closed, I could still picture him frowning as he thought about what he saw. Annalise came in with a bowl of warm water which he used to wipe down my sweaty forehead. Could someone please tell them that I was sweating due to fear, not fever? They should get the fucking out of my room. Ever since the incident where I tried to leave, Annalise had become more distant to me, almost as if she discovered something. Damn it! Why did Richard stop me from escaping? Every minute, I felt as if the hourglass had been flipped against my favor, and each grain of sand that fell seemed like it was tightening the noose around my neck, making it hard to breathe. I waited for fifteen minutes and opened my eyes.

  • LUNA'S SECRET   EYES IN THE DARK

UNKNOWN POVIn a dark storeroom, near the east gates of the imperial city, a man was standing, his face entirely covered with a black cloak. Another man dressed in all black, with a black mask covering his face knelt on one knee, his head bowed. A third one stood to the side, equally dressed in black assassin garbs, with his face covered. The man in the black cloak seemed to be their boss and the one in the assassin garb kneeling down seemed to be making a report to him. There was only the faint flicker of soft blue light from the light crystal lighting up the room. The boss seemed to be quite rich, he could even afford light crystals and a cloak made of black brocade. He appeared to be saying something to the one kneeling. “Are you certain of this?”“One hundred percent certain, my Lord. The imperial concubine is a blood wolf, an incredibly powerful alpha at that. I can't be mistaken about this. The moment I came in and launched an attack, she leaped off the bed with amazing agil

  • LUNA'S SECRET   WAS SHE A FRAUD?

Emperor Richard's POVThe past few days went by with lightning speed. After the incident where Erica made a scene, claiming she was not my wife after the miscarriage, it has been one hell of a ride. She developed a temper and hatred which seemed to be reserved exclusively towards me. Almost as if she blamed me for the loss of our child. I have tried to explain lots of times that I was equally as hurt as she was, but she was not buying into it, threatening me severally to let her go, lest she would kill me. How cute! Did she really expect me to take her threats seriously? Even if she tried, does she have the ability to succeed? The dragon emperor himself wouldn't dare to claim he would kill me. Yet an eighteen year old was doing so. If she wasn't my wife, I would have shown her the consequences of speaking carelessly. However, knowing all her hateful words came from a place of sorrow I had no other option than to smile at her and plead for forgiveness. The physician claimed she was

  • LUNA'S SECRET   MESSED IT UP

RONA'S POVI opened my eyes to see myself in an unfamiliar environment. The only reason I didn't flip out was that Richard was right beside me. I guess my escape fell through. They were his people after all. Of course they sold me out and tipped him off. It would be even harder to leave here from now on with the increased security. I looked at Richard's face, he seemed more exhausted than I was. And he was holding my hand even while sleeping. Why wasn't I offended because he held me back? Deep down, was I hoping he would find and stop me? Was I truly reluctant to leave this place? And why? Could it be because of the money and luxury this place provided? Or was Richard the reason for my hesitation? His eyes opened at that point. It was too late to look away, he already caught me staring. Richard sat up immediately and touched my forehead, checking my temperature. Memories of what I said yesterday flashed through my mind and my face turned red with embarrassment. Why did I do all th

  • LUNA'S SECRET   NEARLY LOST HER

Emperor Richard's povI literally teleported to the grand hall after receiving a tip off from one of the guards that my wife was leaving. I didn't find her there, making my heart skip multiple beats. I immediately rushed outside my palace, my heart in my hands, eyes red—the color of blood, my hand trembling in fear. Just as I wanted to ask one of the guards about her whereabouts, I saw her. Even though she was dressed in plain black clothes made from velvet, and a black cloak made from Qiviut, I knew that was her at a glance. All I could see was the shape of her back, but I immediately knew it was the woman who had dominated my dreams for so long. She just gave one of the guards a bow, and offered him a hair pin, but he refused to accept it. The carriage before me didn't bear the royal crest, it looked like a less than average carriage from the rental, the last kind of vehicle I would think to look at while searching for her. The coachman from the rental was already sitting in his

  • LUNA'S SECRET   LEAVING

RONA'S POVI opened my eyes after Richard left, my eyes a cold shade of green. My heart felt dead inside, and I was just numb. I couldn't think or hear anything, except for voices that drifted into my mind while I was asleep. In the end, Olivia still pulled a fast one on me. Even though Richard wouldn't let her off, I felt bitter. Worse, Liam was back, stronger than ever. And he was still suspicious of me. Staying here had become impossible. I must leave. Otherwise, I would have no means of survival. I was exhausted down to my bones, but perhaps this was my chance to leave the palace and never look back. Since I was wavering in my decision to end Richard and would probably never get the opportunity, there was no use of sticking around. I should just go before I got discovered. I was already tired of fighting. I might have defeated Olivia this time after losing my precious child, but who knew the next enemy that might show up. My hand went to my belly and tears gathered in my eyes.
