The rogues would most likely kill me faster than the witches had attempted to. Not just because they had trained me and taught me everything I needed to know, but because I was less prepared. And I had done that on purpose.

The witches had magical powers that could be on par with the ones I had, and they had tricks up their sleeves as I had seen. But the rogues…they relied purely on brutal strength and tactics.

“Everyone, get into battle position. Forget about fighting fair. She might be one person against all of us, but I’m sure she knows that. She wouldn’t just come here all alone without a plan,” Gray told them.

As instructed, they all started to separate and go into different positions.

I turned around where I stood and studied each and every one that my eyes could pick up, calculating and estimating how many more people were hiding and planning sneak attacks.

“I’m done playing nice with you, Zara,” Gray told me. “I’m giving you the last chance to walk out of here with your head.”

“TAKE COVER!” I heard Gray scream as he grabbed Aera and started to run off to wherever he believed was safe.It was too late for a lot of them as the icicles started to pierce through heads and shoulders, falling them to the ground like helpless flies in my house.I felt a single tear fall down my face, but I wiped it off and shook my head. The more screams I heard, the more I felt the urge to stop it and leave since I had already caused enough damage. But another part of me was there. The part that told me that I hadn’t done nearly enough. That this was probably only a little bit of it, compared to what they had done to my parents’ pack.“I didn’t want to kill any of you,” I whispered to no one in particular. From the screams and the scrambling for protection, I knew they barely heard me and didn’t care to know what I was saying. At once, the painful and sharp rain stopped when I willed it to, and I was back on the ground.I’d had enough. I looked around to see fallen bodies left an

The rogues’ hideout stood in front of me, looking like the land of strangers. Like a place I had never stepped into before. It was all so different now, especially since I wasn’t exactly coming for a happy reunion.“Okay, Zara,” I said after taking a deep breath. “It’s time.”Slowly, I stepped toward the array of mud houses that had taken lots of effort and years to build. I stood in front of the most familiar one. The one where I used to stay.“What in the world are you doing here?!” I heard a voice snap at me, but I didn’t flinch or jump at the sound of it because she sounded more afraid to see me than angry.I turned around and was now face to face with Gray’s mate, Aera, and the second-in-command to this pack of rogues.“Funny how I asked almost the same thing when you and the others ambushed me in my pack, killing my mate in the process.” I smiled at her and cocked my head. One by one, the rogues started to make their way out of their huts to see me. Some of them were shocked, ot

“What do you think you’re doing?” I asked as I watched Darius lock the door to the bedroom and take the key with him. I looked at him with narrowed eyes as he kept the key under his pillow and sat down to face me.“I know you, Zara. And I know enough to recognize when you’re hiding something from me. The last thing I want to do is wake up one day and see that you’re not here again,” he said.“I’m not leaving again, Darius,” I said, knowing it was a lie. “Don’t you think you’re doing too much of this?”“How else am I supposed to do it?” He asked, cocking his head. “How would you react if I left you all alone with Aaron in the dead of the night without saying a word? You may have ended things with the witches, but that’s not the only thing you want to do, is it?”I stared back at him and realized that he could probably see through me. Maybe I carried my anger and hunger for vengeance with me, and he was reading it.“What are you talking about?” I asked, still choosing to pretend like I

“Goddess, Zara. What were you thinking?!” Darius yelled at me as soon as he set his eyes on me, but he rushed over to me and comforted me with a tight hug, as if he was scared of letting me go like I would run away again.“Why would you leave without telling me you were leaving like that? Why would you that? Don’t ever do that again. You have no idea how scared I was. Where did you go?” He bombarded me with questions and pulled away as he looked at me.“I went to the witches’ coven,” I admitted honestly, not seeing any reason to lie about it.“You walked into the midst of witches and didn’t care to tell me about it?” He questioned as he grabbed a blanket and placed it around me to keep me warm.“Would you have let me go if I had told you?” I challenged. From the look on his face, I knew I had my answer. He wouldn’t have.“Where is Stone?” I asked as he started to pace around and ask me if I wanted a warm bath or something to eat. I didn’t want anything until I saw that my son was okay

The wind was now getting heavier, but you knew it wasn’t from you. This was solely from Janet. The tip of her wand was glowing with a yellow light that made your heart skip a beat at the sight of.“You have done more than enough in this place,” Janet said, her eyes turning white as she raised her wand up to the sky.“And you have done more than enough in general,” I retorted, glaring at her as my hands started to heat up with power flowing in my veins. “It’s time to end it.”A bright light emerged from her and blanketed the rest of the witches, one by one.“This is a spell I haven’t perfected all that well,” she said. “But I’ve gotten used to it enough to use it to send you back to wherever you came from.”All at once, the witches started to walk over to her and gather around her. Their wands all glowed the same shade of yellow. I looked down at my body to look at the light which was coming off of me. It was still flickering, a sign that I was in trouble and their attack could hit me
