Chapter 1

**Kira’s POV**

“How could you? How could both of you do this to me?” I questioned, looking at the person I called my fiancé in bed with my best friend, Sophia who smiled smugly at me.

Words weren’t quantifiable enough to explain the amount of hurt I felt as the two people I cherished most in my life betrayed me and still didn’t show any form of remorse from being caught in the act.

“What are you talking about ,Kira?” Chad asked nonchalantly, whilst glaring daggers at me while Sophia on the other hand began rubbing slow circles around his chest, whilst ignoring my presence in the room.

Tears rolled down my cheeks as Chad’s eyes which once looked at me with love and admiration suddenly turned into that of contempt.

I shook my head, willing it to be a bad dream and hoping that everything would be better when I woke up in the morning. I desperately wanted to think that it was mind making this up and that nothing of such was indeed happening.

I slowly pinched myself on the cheeks and all but sobbed when I felt the harsh stings against my face. It wasn’t a dream!

I felt like my world had come crashing down as they both turned away from me like I didn’t mean a thing and went back to making out right in front of me, without an iota of remorse.

Sophia’s loud moans filled the air, bouncing off the walls as Chad pounded into her wetness so quickly that the sound of his dick slapping against her walls resonated around the room.

Their love making, the smell of sex in the air and even the gibberish she was uttering, all for moans, made my knees weak and my heart squeeze in anger.

I couldn’t believe this!

Chad and I have been in a relationship for the past year, a relationship proudly instigated by Sophia, and only a few weeks ago he had proposed to me.

I had gladly accepted and even informed Sophia who was so overwhelmed at the moment, since the two of them were the only people I had in my life after the death of the Alpha and Luna, my parents.

We got married a few days later and are not even up to a week into our marriage; and he’s already cheating on me with someone else! My best friend for that matter!

My heart ached as he continued fucking her in front of me.

“Stop it, already!” I seethe in anger. I felt angry tears spring into my eyes but in anger, I wiped them off.

“Why would I even want to, when I’m finally with the one I’ve always wanted?” Chad smirked as he continued making love to her right in front of me, without remorse.

My heart lurched at his utterance, what exactly did he mean by that?

Sophia kept moaning, irritating and infuriating me the more. In anger, I rushed to them and pushed him off her.

My anger flared when he landed on the floor and I noticed that his dick was still erect.

Not minding that, I flung my bag to the side of the room, and pulled him up by the collar before landing two heavy slaps on his face. I heard Sophia gasp from behind me, but I didn't give a shit.

“How dare you?” He snarled, but I stood unmoved.

“Are you this shameless? How could you do this to me, you fool?” I yelled. “I trusted both of you. You were like the only family I have, and you still are; but you have the guts to betray me like this?”

“Shut up, Kira. Just shut the hell up!” Chad yelled angrily. “So you actually thought I loved you all this while?” He snickered as if incredulously.

“I never loved you. I was only using you because you were the next in line to the Alpha. I proposed to you because I knew you were going to become Luna. Stop thinking highly of yourself, Kira. You mean nothing to me!”

“Y… Y… You did all these because of my title?” I asked. The pain in my heart was indescribable. Jeez! I thought he loved me.

Chad was like a mate to me, since I haven't been able to sense my mate. He was the reason I didn't really think too much about it. I was ready to live my life with him and tell this mating stuff to go to hell, but now, fate had played a big one on me.

I clutched to my chest, breathing heavily as more tears rolled down my cheeks. “You're a monster,” I wailed.

“To think that you’d go to these lengths just to become Alpha makes me sick! Well I have good news for you! I’m filing for a divorce!” I yelled at the top of my voice.

To my bewilderment, he only scoffed as if unbothered by the fact that I was about to tell our marriage off.

“Stop throwing a tantrum, bitch. I've had enough of your nonsense.” Sophia said, and I turned to look at her with rage coursing through my body, and seeping into my eyes.

“You were my best friend, and like my sister, Sophia. Why did you do this?” I asked.

I heard Chad scoff before he simply strode out of the room, but I wanted to avoid dealing with him now. I wanted to know why my best friend would betray me this way.

“Isn't it obvious? I want to be Luna.” She smirked. “I’ve always wanted power ever since we were kids…how come you never noticed that?”

“I am Luna here. How can cheating on me with Chad make you a Luna when I’m going to file a divorce against him?” I asked with furrowed eyebrows.

“Damn! You see what I’m talking about? You’re way too naive and gullible to see the real world.” She snickered. “Not to worry anyways darling, you’ll get to see what I mean very soon..”

Confusion laced my brain, making it quite difficult for me to think. Her words sounded like a threat but at the same time I didn’t know what to think of it.

“Now get the fucking hell out of here and stop painting this room with your bad luck!” She snarled, glaring at me.

“Get out, Kira, you hear her.” Chad said from behind me; after returning from wherever he must’ve gone to.

I couldn't control the tears that fell from my eyes. This was a mad dream… a very scary bad dream! "C… Chad—” I whimpered.

“Get out, bitch!” He snapped, making me flinch back in shock.

“Out.” Sophia chimed in.

I slowly walked to where I had dropped my bag and picked it up. “The two of you will pay for this.” I started walking out.

“You have to live to achieve that.” Sophia chuckled.

I halted for a second but shook my head and stormed out in tears. I got into my car and turned it on, driving out of there and into the road. My tears fell in torrents as I struggled to fix my eyes on the road.

Betrayal hurts more when it's coming from someone unexpected and someone you love.

“They won't get away with—” My words were cut off when the car started misbehaving. Nothing I touched worked, and it was speeding at a high rate. I marched the brakes, but it was fruitless. “No, the car was just fine this evening,” I panicked when I lost control.

That was when Sophia’s words rang continuously in my head. Damn! They must’ve tampered with the brakes of my car. Their plan was to kill me!

I screamed when the car left the road, heading for a cliff, this couldn’t be happening!

This shouldn’t be happening! They would get my throne if I am dead and I can’t afford to allow something like that to happen!

Tears leaked out of my eyes as the car kept moving in its own accord regardless of the several attempts I made to stop it.

The last thing I saw before the car’s shattering sounds filled my ear was Sophia’s mocking smile dancing in my subconscious.

I felt my breath ceasing as the world suddenly became silent.
