All a lie

"Let's go home" Mateo's deep voice brought April back to reality.

She looked up at him, confused. "Are we not going to greet the guests?"

"You can do it yourself. As for me, I'm leaving." Mateo said, already walking towards his car, leaving April with no choice than to run after him.

They rode home in silence and April hated it because it made her feel nervous, giving her time to think about what was waiting for her in her new home.

The wedding consummation!

When she agreed to get married to him, she didn't think about what would happen after. Now she would-- . She shook her head to get the silly thought out of her mind.

'I'm just overreacting' she tried to convince herself.

The car drove further into the suburbs and to the hill side till there were only a few cars on the road. April began to wonder where they were heading to. Had Mateo kidnapped her?

Before she had the chance to voice out her trepidation, the car came to a halt in front of a huge, gold gate.

On identifying the car, the gate automatically opened, revealing a beautiful mansion. The mansion was grand and screamed of luxury but what caught April's eyes was the beautiful garden that had green bushes and colourful flowers.

The car stopped and when the alighted the vehicle, they were welcomed by the helpers.

"Welcome young master and young miss" They greeted in unision.

Mateo nodded in acknowledgement before turning to his bride. "Make yourself at home, they'll show you to your room." After which, he turned to leave but April's hold on his suit prevented him from taking another step forward.

"What is it?" He turned to her, somewhat annoyed.

"Where are you going to?" She asked, only to realize that she sounded like a clingy wife.

"Are you missing me already, wife?" Mateo smirked. He didn't know how but he found himself teasing her.

April's face flushed in embarrassment. "You know that's not what I meant. Don't flatter yourself." She tried to defend herself.

"If you care to know," Mateo began, now back to his usual impassiveness. "I'm going to the office. I have work to do." He said and without waiting for her response, he got into his car and drove off.

An older woman amongst the maid walked up to her. "I'm Madeline, the head maid. I'll be in charge of your wellness. This way, please."

April sighed and followed Madeline who led her into the mansion, through the luxurious hallway and into the room. April was once again in awe at the size and beauty of the room.

"Let's get you ready." Madeline said.

"Ready for what exactly?" Oblivious April asked. They were supposed to help her take off her wedding dress and not get ready. Or was she going somewhere?

Madeline chuckled at April's naiveness. "It is your wedding night. We need to get you ready before the young master returns. He doesn't like tardiness"

April sighed deeply but didn't argue with them, she just let them do whatever they wanted.

They helped her get out of her wedding dress then made her soak in a hot bubble bath and afterwards, she slipped into a beautiful night gown and it's matching robe, both made of silk. They combed her hair and let it cascade down her back and finally, they applied perfume on her.

"What will you like to eat, young miss?" Madeline asked after they had dolled April up.

"Nothing, I'm not hungry." April said. The truth was that she was a nervous wreck and she doubted the possibility of her stomach being able to digest whatever passed through her mouth.

"We'll leave you alone. Young master will be back any moment from now." Madeline said, the turned around and left the room with the other maids closely behind her.

April was now left alone, giving her time to think.

'I can tell him I'm not ready. He won't force me right?' she questioned herself. Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard the sound of a car outside.

April was now anxious so she jumped off from the bed and attached herself to the window inorder to see who it was, whilst praying that it wasn't Mateo.

Her worst fears came true when she saw the man she had just gotten married to, step down from the vehicle and strolled into the mansion.

April was in a frenzy and panicked as she thought of what to do. The only idea that came to her mind was to feign sleep and that was exactly what she did. She quickly mounted her bed and closed her eyes tightly.

April waited and waited till she got bored and eventually gave up. Perhaps Mateo was exhausted from work and had probably forgotten he had a bride at home.

But suddenly, the door swung open and Mateo walked in, taking April by surprise. He was now wearing a casual fit.

"You!" April gasped. "What are you doing here?"

"The last time I checked, this is my house and you are my wife." He made sure to enunciate the last words causing April to gulp.

"I-- I'm not ready." She stuttered.

"Ready for what?"

"The wedding consummation. I-- I'm not ready." She looked down quickly, afraid to meet his gaze. Her heart pounded in her ears as she waited for an answer. A laugh, an angry exclamation, anything!

"Are you that eager to sleep with me?" Mateo snorted and almost immediately, his face became serious. "Get those sick thoughts out of your mind cause it'll never happen." He reprimanded her.

"Sign this." He tossed a piece of document into her hand.

"What is this?" She asked and began looking through it..

No intimacy and meddling in each other's business. She was okay with it.

"The contract." Mateo answered. "You know what happens if you fault any clause." He said menacingly.

April was satisfied with the contract, so she asked. "What if you fault it. What happens then?"

Mateo suddenly wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him. He then lowered his eyes and whispered in her ears. "Every touch.." His hot breath caressed her skin. "Every kiss..." He tucked few strands of her behind her ear and abruptly, he drew back. "...Is nothing but a lie."
