Leaving After She Mocked My Love Letters

When Sean first noticed that the Harrisons were going bankrupt, he had abandoned Maddie without a word and fled abroad without hesitation.Meanwhile, I was the one who stayed by her side, ignoring all my shareholders' advice and pouring all my resources into her family's company to help revive it.When Maddie's parents, Charlie Harrison and Esther Rowland, saw that their company was beginning to recover, they proposed a marriage alliance under the guise of strengthening ties. However, I knew that they just wanted me to continue pumping money and resources into their company without expecting anything in return. Also, my grandmother, Rose Hebert, had always been particularly fond of Maddie. She'd even declared that she would only ever allow me to marry Maddie because she didn't want anybody else to be her granddaughter-in-law.I didn't really care about materialistic things like these, even if I was just doing it for the sake of fulfilling Grandma's dying wish.At first, I though

Yet, I had told myself that I would end things with Maddie after the wedding. I just never thought that the end would happen so quickly. The next day, I appeared at the wedding venue in my groom's suit, only to be stopped at the entrance by a group of bodyguards. They pointed at a large poster by the door, and I turned to read it as instructed."Benjamin Caldwell and other mongrels are not allowed in."I was stunned for a short moment. Then, I caught sight of Maddie's and Sean's photos in the wedding photo album.I was so mad that I just laughed, pulling out my phone to call Maddie. As soon as she picked up, I didn't wait for her to say a word and demanded straight away, "So, this is what you meant by giving me an explanation for everything?"Her voice came through slowly."This wedding was supposed to be a show for your grandmother anyway. Don't worry. I've already had someone take her away."So, just let me fulfill one last wish to marry the man I love. I promise that I'll c

I hung up on her right after that.I didn't even care about what Maddie's expression was after I said those words to her. I was determined to cripple Harrison Group by hook or by crook.Afterward, I immediately had Tom send out the intimate photos of Maddie and Sean that I'd prepared beforehand.I also simultaneously announced the cancellation of the engagement and marriage alliance using my official company account. I severed all ties between the Harrisons and the Caldwells with immediate effect.Soon, the whole industry was in an uproar, and major outlets reported the news."The Harrisons' Fallen Heiress Abandons Fiance for Unknown Punk. Family Business Now Headed Toward Ruin."All the other companies that previously coveted Harrison Group didn't sit still any longer either and also began their takeover plans.Maddie called me several times after that. I didn't answer any of them, so she began texting me instead."What the hell do you want from me, Benjamin Caldwell? Didn't I

Esther continued yelling in my face, "I'm telling you that you're going to get your karma very soon! Let's see how much longer you can stay as ruthless and arrogant as you are now!"Then, she turned to leave.Maddie didn't leave with her. She looked at me worriedly and finally spoke up after a long time."Benjamin, from the very beginning, did you ever love me at all?"I stared into her dark eyes, unable to tell what was on her mind. However, the few sweet moments I shared with her in the past suddenly resurfaced in my mind. When I was working overtime through the night, she would be cradling a comic book waiting next to me. When I nearly forgot about my birthday, she had someone custom-make a cake for me and delivered it to my office. When Grandma had to be rushed to the emergency room and the doctor warned us several times that she might not make it, Maddie stayed by my side, her eyes as bright as the stars as she told me, "I will always be by your side no matter what happens."

However, Sean grossly miscalculated. If it hadn't been for me, Harrison Group would have already gone under years ago.So, if Sean wasn't able to get a large amount of money as soon as he got back, he wouldn't even have to wait for his creditors to come after him—he would just flee as soon as possible.Last night, while everyone in the Harrison family was focused entirely on the stock market, Sean looted everything of value in the house. And now, he had vanished without a trace.Even though Maddie reported it to the police, they told her that there wasn't much they could do. After all, nobody knew whether Sean was still in the country or not.Maddie probably just realized that there was no way she could turn the tide against me anymore, so she could no longer be as smug and arrogant as she used to be. Her eyes were still red as she fell to her knees just as I was about to turn and leave."Benjamin, I'm begging you. What do I have to do for you to help me? I admit that I was in the
