Chapter 2

Author: Johnny Fisher
When I came around once more, I was still in the hotel.

The doctor was next to me, dressing my wounds, while Philip was asleep by the side of my bed.

I scanned around to see Rosa entering with a bowl of chicken soup. The frost on her face melted, and she looked at me tenderly. It would have made me forget that she was the one who left me in the wilderness.

"Fred, I was wrong for thinking you were faking your injuries. Can you forgive me? I made you chicken soup."

I furrowed my brows at the bowl of chicken soup. Rosa never once made chicken soup for me.

At that moment, Jack, with his arm in a cast, said, "Rosa, your cooking's still as amazing as always. Can you get me another bowl?"

My hand trembled as I took the spoon, almost spilling it on me.

Rosa beamed at Jack, immediately helping him to his feet. "Jack, you're such a sweet talker as always."

Jack smiled at her dotingly. "It's only for you, silly."

I immediately felt nauseous once I took a sip of the soup. I vomited.

Jack said, "Fred, does it taste that bad? This is Rosa's secret recipe!"

Rosa's expression turned ugly. She went up to me and snatched the bowl of soup away from my hands. She did it so quickly I couldn't even react.

The soup splashed onto me. My wounds burned in excruciating pain. I was in so much pain, I trembled violently as if epileptic.

Rosa smashed the bowl of chicken soup on the floor. "Fred, I was kind enough to make you chicken soup. Are you so disgusted by it? You can stop pretending! It's not like the chicken soup spilled on you!"

Did she not see me covered in soup?

The soup was not meant for me. It was only leftovers, yet she made it seem like she did it for me.

My heart sank in disappointment.

Rosa saw me trembling and my teeth chattering. She went up and grabbed me by my hospital gown. She snapped at me with a glare, "Stop trembling! Are you deaf?"

I did not want to. I just could not control it. I was in too much pain.

Rosa had no choice but to let me go. At that moment, Philip was woken up by the commotion I was causing. When he saw me in such a state, he was so frightened that he immediately went to get the doctor.

The doctor was stunned to see me in such an epileptic state. He reprimanded Rosa, "Is this how you care for your husband? The chicken soup on his wound would only make it worse! He's trembling because he's in pain!"

Rosa looked at the doctor in a daze. "Isn't he just pretending?"

After I left Chicily, I went all over the world. Rosa called me a few hundred times. When I finally picked up, she yelled, "Fred, why did you go? I have moved to the grasslands! We can finally be together! I'm a vet. We can open a center, and you could still be a Wolvesmith."I was silent for a long time before saying, "Rosa, have you forgotten that we have been divorced for three years?"She was silent for a long time, too. After a while, she asked, "Where are you? I'll come to you. I can work wherever you are. We could still be together, Fred! Please tell me where you are. I beg you."I looked around at the mysterious forest that I was in and chuckled, "Forget about it. You won't like it here."After hanging up, Rosa was in a daze for a very long time. What I did not know was that she truly tried to follow me wherever I went. She would travel to the places based on the photos that I posted on social media, hoping to bump into me. However, when I posted a photo of each countr

I had no choice but to let Rosa follow me.The wolves in the grasslands were even more wild and defiant. I brought one of the large wolves with me as I trained with it for a long time, and it obeyed me. If any of the wolves tried to attack me, it would stand in front of me and growl at the others.Rosa was stunned for a long time when we arrived at the familiar-looking grasslands."Does this place seem familiar to you? This was where you abandoned me."We finally returned to where it all started.A hungry wolf came over. It was the same wolf that Rosa and Jack insisted on feeding. I placed a piece of meat in front of it. It devoured the piece of meat before howling. The last time we were there, Rosa praised it for being appreciative, while I worriedly said, "It might just attract even more hungry wolves." Based on experience, a wolf howled only to call his other mates.Rosa and Jack called me a heartless monster. It didn't matter since it happened some time ago, though not

"Mr. Presley, how are you? Has anyone come looking for you?"I thought for a while before answering no.He said, "Mr. Presley, I told Rosa the truth, that you didn't feed Bubbles to the wolves. She cried when she heard and ran off in a panic. I thought she went looking for you, but I think she doesn't know you're still in Chicily, so she bought a flight ticket to head back.'I was stunned. I never expected that Rosa would head back to Innerland for me. It didn't matter. We were divorced anyway.Hunter continued, "She contacted me again recently, wanting to know where you are. She's going crazy looking for you. Shall I tell her?"I sighed and said, "Tell her, then.""You two should talk it out. There's nothing a couple can't work through. Besides, I still think she loves you very much."I could not help but chuckle. Was that love? Perhaps so, but it was in the past. To put it more accurately, we were done from the moment she abandoned me among the pack of wolves. After two weeks

Rosa was exhausted after giving Bubbles a burial. Harsh as her words were, she had no intention of ending the marriage. She only said them out of spite and fury. She wanted to talk to me.She opened the door to find the room empty, and barely anything was left behind. She furrowed her brows and asked tentatively, "Fred, let's talk about what happened today. I was really upset at Bubbles' death. I only asked for a divorce because I was furious."We have, after all, been together for six years. Her feelings for me were still there. No one answered. She started to worry. It was as if she had lost something. She picked up the divorce papers from the floor to see that I had signed them."Fred! How could you do this!" She was resentful that I could be so cruel. A few days ago, we agreed to be lovers forever. She could not believe that I would leave her just like this. However, proof was right in front of her eyes. I did sign the divorce papers. She tried calling me to get an answer,

I was still in a state of shock, never expecting that Bubbles the bunny would be eaten alive.Rosa staggered to her feet. She rushed over and grabbed me by the collar, yelling, "Fred Presley! I was wrong about you! You're a monster! A heartless monster! Bubbles's an innocent creature! How could you feed her to the wolves!"I clutched my forehead. My head was throbbing. "Let me explain. I didn't hurt her. It was Jack—"Slap! Rosa slapped me on the face, glaring at me with reddened eyes as if I were her enemy."Jack? He was the one who gave me Bubbles. Do you think he would feed her to the wolves? I know you don't like him! I know you're jealous, but I can take it! Bubbles is a living being! How could you be so cruel? You're a monster!"She hurled accusations one after the other, completely shutting me up. My numb heart was no longer beating, but the pain was still so excruciating it almost crushed me.I clutched my heart. My injuries tore open again. Blood was seeping through th

Upon reaching the Wolvesmith's Base, the person in charge, Hunter Regan, came to welcome me."Mr. Presley, you're finally here! Our wolves are waiting for you!"Then, he immediately noticed my injuries. He asked hesitantly, "Mr. Presley, are you alright?"I replied with a smile, "I'm fine. I'll be working here from now on. This will be my home."I was orphaned from a young age. My parents abandoned me when I was little. I craved love, but it no longer mattered.Hunter took me to see the wolves. A dozen wolves were kept in a fenced area. He said that a family owned those wolves, but the wolves were too ferocious and would often sneak out to hurt people, so they wanted me to train them.Perhaps, I did look intimidating. When I arrived, the wolves stopped howling. A few even cowered in fear. However, a few bigger ones stared at me with hunger gleaming in their gazes.I scanned around to see that I had all the tools I needed. I picked up a whip. Those bigger wolves were still stand
