Shaun narrowed his eyes and said, "Today is Miss Miller's birthday. The Miller Family personally sent the invitation. Am I not allowed to come?"

"I... I didn't mean that," Williams stammered, his words tripping over each other.

Shaun couldn't be bothered to look at Williams' pathetic expression. He raised his hand, signaling to the person behind him to bring out an exquisite box.

"Today is Miss Miller's birthday, and I specially prepared a gift as a birthday present."

As he spoke, Shaun opened the box.

Inside, a sapphire necklace sparkled brilliantly.

Williams glanced at it and was slightly taken aback. "Uncle, isn't this the treasure of Crown Jewelers? This necklace is worth over a million dollars."

A million dollars!

Rosalie's eyes lit up instantly.

Oh my God. Shaun was giving her such an expensive gift.

Rosalie stared at the necklace, her breathing becoming a bit heavy.

The guests also looked at Rosalie with envy.

Rosalie is really lucky.

Even though she had been missing for three years, the moment she returned, even Shaun personally gave her a gift. What kind of honor is that?

Feeling everyone's eyes on her, Rosalie straightened her back a bit more and flashed a bright smile. She walked up and said, "Mr. Hayes, thank you for the birthday gift."

Williams was also a bit excited. Does this mean Uncle really approves of Rosalie? If that's the case, changing my fiancée shouldn't be a problem.

Shaun glanced at the two of them and said calmly, "I'll personally put this necklace on Miss Miller."

Oh my gosh. Shaun himself was going to put it on her.

Rosalie was so excited she almost fainted.

Her face turned red, her eyes sparkled like water, and her voice became even softer, "Thank you, Mr. Hayes."

Shaun picked up the necklace and stepped forward.

Rosalie stood still, waiting for Shaun to come to her.

Closer.

Closer.

Just as Rosalie was ready to embrace the most glorious moment of her life, Shaun walked right past her, heading towards someone behind her.

Rosalie froze for a moment.

What was happening?

She quickly turned around.

Shaun was already standing in front of Elena.

Looking at the pale-faced girl in front of him, Shaun calmly raised his hands and carefully placed the necklace around her neck.

Then he said,

"Happy Birthday, Elena."

Elena stared at him, dazed.

Shaun was actually standing up for her.

He had said the Hayes Family would give her an explanation, and she thought it was just a casual remark.

Unexpectedly, he had really done it.

Although, for Shaun, such a gift was just a drop in the ocean, but for Elena, it was the only ray of light piercing through the deep darkness of the night.

She suddenly felt an uncontrollable urge to cry.

When she was falsely accused and abandoned, she held her head high, fighting back the urge to cry.

But now, with someone standing by her side, she felt tears welling up.

The entire room fell silent.

Everyone's expressions shifted instantly.

Thinking back carefully, Shaun had only mentioned that the gift was for Miss Miller, but he never specified which Miss Miller.

Rosalie and Elena shared the same birthday.

Today was Rosalie's birthday, but it was also Elena's birthday.

Previously, whether it was the Miller Family or Williams, they all clearly favored Rosalie while belittling Elena. So, everyone instinctively overlooked her.

But now, Shaun himself had placed the million-dollar necklace around Elena's neck!

The crowd's expressions became increasingly complex.

Some discreetly glanced at Rosalie.

The more excited Rosalie had been before, the more embarrassed she was now. She looked pale, as if she might collapse at any moment.

Williams couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy. He raised his voice and said, "Uncle, you must be mistaken. Today's party is for Rosalie, and all the gifts should be for her too."

Shaun cast a cold glance at Williams. "Rosalie? Williams, you're engaged. Who gave you permission to call another girl's name so intimately?"

Williams was taken aback for a moment.

Rosalie's face turned even paler, and she instinctively clutched Williams' sleeve.

Williams looked down at Rosalie.

She seemed so fragile and delicate, as if she had entrusted her entire life to him.

A sudden surge of determination filled his heart.

He declared, "Uncle, I want to break off my engagement!"

"Oh?" Shaun remained impassive.

Having spoken up, Williams had no intention of backing down.

He said firmly, "Uncle, you arrived late and might not have seen what happened. This Elena, she stole the gift that Uncle Richard and Aunt Veronica prepared for Rosalie. She's nothing but a thief! I will never marry someone with such poor character."

Richard's eyes flickered as he spoke, "President Hayes, my adopted daughter indeed has poor conduct. I have just officially announced that she is no longer part of the Miller Family. Without the Miller Family, her background really doesn't match the Hayes Family. I think it's best to end the engagement between the two youngsters."

Shaun chuckled and said, "Oh? And you think the Miller Family's status is a match for the Hayes Family?"

Richard's smile froze at the corners of his mouth.

Although the Miller Family could be considered wealthy, they were still far from being on par with the Hayes Family.

"The status of a mere Miller Family daughter is insignificant," Shaun said calmly. "As for the matter of theft..."

"Uncle, this is a confirmed fact," Williams hurriedly interjected.

"Whether it's confirmed or not isn't up to us," Shaun replied serenely. "Call the police. Once they arrive, everything will be investigated thoroughly."

Call the police!

Richard's face turned pale instantly.

This setup wasn't very clever. If investigated thoroughly, it would surely be full of flaws.

He had dared to target Elena before simply because she had no power or influence and couldn't defend herself.

But now, things were different.

Shaun had stepped in.

With his power, the police investigation would be thorough and uncompromising.

The Miller Family's schemes would be exposed for all to see.

Richard's hands began to tremble slightly.

He wanted to get rid of this troublesome adopted daughter, but he didn't want to tarnish the Miller Family's reputation.

"We can't call the police!" Rosalie couldn't help but shout.

Shaun glanced at her coldly. "Why not?"

Williams also looked puzzled. He said, "Rosalie, Uncle Shaun is right. Let's have the police investigate. For something worth five hundred thousand dollars, she should spend a few years in jail!"

Rosalie's heart tightened suddenly.

She forced a smile. "That's exactly why I think it's not a good idea. After all, my sister has been with Mom and Dad for so many years. Sending her to jail would be too cruel."

"Yes, yes, yes," Richard quickly added. "After all, there's a bond between father and daughter. I don't want her to go to jail either."

"Rosalie, you're so kind," Williams said, looking at Rosalie with a face full of emotion. He had no idea this was a setup. He genuinely believed that Rosalie was being magnanimous.

Elena looked at these people with their fake expressions and suddenly laughed.

She turned to Shaun and said,

"Mr. Hayes, if I really stole something, I'm willing to go to jail. I don't mind sitting there for a few years. But if I didn't steal anything, shouldn't the people who falsely accused me be punished too?”
